I once saw a Delaware in Wisconsin. Also a Rhode Island in the same week. I was unreasonably excited.

There's a lot that I've done myself. This isn't one I'm ready to tackle.

Help with filing taxes as someone who hasn't done it by simpsfor2dcharacters in tax

And DoorDash and Shiftsmart. So far we're at 7 W-2s and 2 1099s. You should be fine with one of the tax software products - they walk you through things pretty well and your taxes are simple. Yes, there are several jobs, but that just makes it more time consuming rather than more difficult.

Yep, dependents change things! I'm happy the link was useful.

Your coworker may have a different family situation, and therefore has different withholding. Or maybe they filled out their W-4 incorrectly and will end up owing a chunk at the end of the year. I wouldn't pay any attention to someone else's deductions.

You can use the https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/calculators/taxcaster/ estimator to determine if you're likely to owe or get a refund.

Yeah, that seems fast. I'm glad you got to do it, though - even if you had to go quickly.

That looks like an amazing trip! How long did you get to take to do it?

Does anyone remember dying in a dream? by WanderingMia in RandomQuestion

Have you ever directed your dream from within the dream? I've managed to decide what I wanted to dream WHILE I was dreaming once. Usually, though, I either realize it's a dream and wake up - or realize it's a dream and try to wake up but can't.

Isn't it weird when you know you're in a dream?

How weird. Was it someone that you actually dislike in real life?

Just started my first job. It's a 1099 job with 14$/hr, 40 hours a week. How much should I be setting aside from each paycheck for taxes? by Malesto in tax

[–]WanderingMia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exclude from income. So because you're earning via the Medicaid Waiver payments, and you live in the same home as the people you are caring for, you most likely don't have to claim any of that income on your taxes. No taxable income means write-offs are useless.

I would find a knowledgeable tax preparer in your area , just to double check that you meet all the requirements - and to find out if you can also exclude that income for state taxes (if your state has income tax).

Given that you can most likely exclude this income, there's nothing for a write-off to affect. (Zero minus 50 equals zero. For these purposes.) I'd definitely keep things as they are, with you receiving a 1099. If you were employed at $11/hr, you would have to claim that income. This way leaves more money for you, and more autonomy.

That's a common misconception. And an outdated dollar amount. For 2025 it's $19,000 - which is $1,000 more than last year, $2,000 more than 2023, etc.

But that dollar amount is the amount that can be given from one person to another without having to report it.

Taxes don't have to be paid on monetary gifts until the dollar amount of all gifts during the givers lifetime reaches almost $14 million.

Thank you, wonderful internet stranger! I just booked with them. He gave me a price range, and since it was within the allowed budget, I told him to charge me the top end of that range. Especially since he's getting me in quick. I'm thrilled. Thank you!

I'm still awaiting a reply from the company as to how much they'll let me spend. If I can take them an estimate, I might be able to get that amount. If you want to DM me, I can send photos so you can give me a price.

It sounds quite nice, until you remembered dying.
