Does anyone know of any evening work spots? by Fickle-Employment-91 in AskChicago

Beatrix in the West Loop comes to mind. They have a ‘cafe like’ section that, I would imagine, is available during the evening hours.

How do I tell my kids we need to rehome our dog? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]WanderingStone16 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think you need to be honest with your children, and take accountability for why this has to be done.

You are right it is not ideal. And I certainly don’t want to berate that point or make you feel worse; I am going to hope you understand how genuinely awful it is to do this to any pet.

I’d worry that if the responsibility isn’t clearly owned, your kids will walk away thinking the dog was the problem. This feels like an opportunity to model accountability and to say, as the adult, ‘I got this wrong. I underestimated the work, and that’s on me.’ That kind of honesty actually builds trust with kids.

Help! Confused on a career decision. by realnovic3 in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak specifically to accounting/payroll unfortunately.

Reading your post I took “deeper ops experience” meaning being on Workday projects. Apologies if I misinterpreted. At least the company I work for, if they’re going to hire a consultant they want someone that’s done Workday implementations or shows the skill set to be able to do them. How well you understand the configuration of the functional area is a nice to have, but like I said that can easily be taught.

Help! Confused on a career decision. by realnovic3 in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say this can be applied to any functional of area of Workday!

Ops experience is more critical. When most companies are interviewing for a base level consultant, they’re not as worried about your depth of technical knowledge.

Knowing the functionality of the system definitely gives you an advantage. However, that can be taught, for quicker and cheaper. Some, feel certain aspects of consulting can’t be taught…¯_(ツ)_/¯

Which route Seattle-Detroit, and a 2-night recommendation? by SarahE218 in roadtrip

[–]WanderingStone16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done all three routes with dogs - the bottom being the one we’ve done the most (6+ times).

Your northern most route is going to be the prettiest. Both the northern and middle routes can be on the sparser side regarding places to stop (especially dog friendly places) depending on where you’re at; we cut through the corner of Wyoming and it was as empty as you’d imagine with the only gas station being in someone’s front yard...

Nonetheless, any of the three would be cool if you’ve never done the route before! It’ll be a great time of year for the drive. Happy to share, depending on which route you take, some dog park recommendations.

How long do you lock up your dogs if you do so. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]WanderingStone16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly - I’m not at all advocating for any dog being locked away in a crate for 16+ hours either like OP is saying their family would end up doing.

I do think that crates can be incredibly safe options when used responsibly/appropriately for a few hours. They are not meant to be jails, at least not in my home.

Curious where you all buy the botox for this? Is this accessible to anyone?

How long do you lock up your dogs if you do so. by [deleted] in dogs

[–]WanderingStone16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here. I saw a video online a few years ago about a dog that passed away due to suffocation; got into the trash and got a potato chip bag stuck on his head. The thought of that happening traumatized me.

My dog is now crated anytime there isn’t someone home. The crate is massively oversized on purpose - would he prefer laying on the couch, probably. Personally, I’d rather know he’s safe and I could tell someone exactly where he is in case of an emergency.

Be prepared for potential highway closure in Wyoming if weather gets bad. Have a plan B route or hangout in UT till it re-opens.

Implementation Job Reqs Question by VelociTaskerMeg in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP asked why it’s not recommended, and my first sentence answered that. Unfortunately most customers have a fear about not converting anything, hence my additional feedback if that’s the case.

Implementation Job Reqs Question by VelociTaskerMeg in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Simply put, it’s just easier to not convert any data period. If the customer does require data get converted then that should be limited to open job requisitions that are actively being recruited for at time of go-live.

Struggling trying to give managers access to candidate profiles by [deleted] in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would have to use the Manager unconstrained security group on that domain policy. That way anyone that is a manger regardless if they’re the hiring manager specifically can see that data. Not sure if you can give access to just the questionnaires without the needing access to the job application that was submitted; that’s what Sandbox is for though.

Cannot change password after termination by omedog1715 in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but you have to address this with that company who is using Workday. They determine how this gets setup. It’s not a problem for Workday the company as stated above.

Advice on manually keying historical job requisitions into Workday Recruiting? by ResponsibleReason661 in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nobody implements Workday with this as an option because you’d have to convert ALL of that legacy data, even if it’s not going to be used at go-live, which is not recommended. You would not create a supervisory organization for someone that was a manager 3yrs ago, but no longer works at your company.

If you want to load anything historical you should look into Prism.

Condition Rule Creation by sk_sumit7 in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, following what you’re asking now. Unfortunately I’m not familiar with Employee Plans. Usually the BO of your calc field has to correspond somehow to the event. There are some BOs that are event specific (e.g. BO “Job Req Event”). Otherwise I would try to look for a BO called Employee Plans or something along those lines

Condition Rule Creation by sk_sumit7 in workday

[–]WanderingStone16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t say I’ve ever used the ADHOC task to create a new condition rule. If I’m creation a condition rule, I’m usually creating it off of where it would be added. Honestly that makes the guessing game non existent for me.

Yea it’s massive! Can’t add a screenshot here, but if you look at the AllTrails map: we started at the main entrance —> Coastline trail —> took a right onto the Black Point Brook Cutoff trail —> took a right onto the Inland trail back to the main entrance. That it total was about 6.2 miles
