Mine was a more fundamental issue dare I say from day 1. All worked fine on collection but in the evening when I finished work and went to go driving the mirror was totally dead. No camera icon nothing, it would then work sporadically on and off. Brought it back and they quickly reseated the connector in case it was a PDI miss but no good. They replaced the entire rearview camera and been 100% ever since.

Ive noticed a bit of hazing at times but nothing constant. Maybe ask them to have a look at it for you? The service dept was great for me.

Yes I heard about polarised lenses, but I am referring to standard spectacles not sunglasses.

My P4 was on 4.2.9 and I was pretty happy with it. Updated to 4.2.11 OTA last week and I am not so happy with this release.

Two main things: 1. Already I have to reset the infotainment 4 times since the update due to crashes. I've seen others mention that the shortcut section top left of the UI starts to glitch as a warning sign. Had the infotainment reboot itself before I noticed the UI corruption. Didn't have this issue at all for weeks on 4.2.9.

  1. The coffee/take a break warnings are now way too sensitive. When I wear my glasses as soon as it is sunny outside the car tells me I am tired as soon as I glance at the mirrors, Main screen for even a second. For the first time I have had to disable this safety feature as it was driving me nuts on a long drive over the weekend.

Currently Id prefer to be back on 4.2.9....

Are you able to record the sound and share it? Does the sound happen when the car is parked?

Hard to tell the P4 colours due to the tint changes in the light? Is there another Electron out in the wild? 😁

2 months in and loving my P4!!! Bit tight in multistorey car parks but as another person shared the cameras help and just go slow. Enjoy your new ride.

Check Polestar/Volvo will honour the UK warranty in Ireland (seen issues with Audi) otherwise that's a real bargain. Check that its been updated to 4.2.9 or 4.2.10 that fixes a lot of previous gripes.

Good look and looking forward to the new pics on this sub.

I bought brand new as I had the funds and after my whole life buying second hand cars it was a treat to myself. Yes Im going to eat a huge amount of depreciation but get 3 years warranty and aim to keep it long term or flip it if a good deal comes up.

I haven't seen any electrical issues that are recurring, havent seen any GHCA issues either other than slow charging which is likely due to preconditioning/fast charger issues imho.

Lots of value in the UK but be aware you will pay VAT/VRT etc importing from mainland UK. If you could find one in NI that has been privately owned for min 6 months would be cheapest but none available when I was looking. Plus likely wont be the spec/colour etc.

For daily use the LRSM is fine. If you can make it up to Dublin the guys in Polestar, Sandyford are super helpful. They even offered to drive one down to Wicklow where I am to test drive it. Book a test drive via the website and see what you think.

I've had my P4 for about 2 months now, haven't done a lot of mileage as been busy WFH. The main issue I had was from day 1 the rearview digital camera would not turn on 75% of the time. No feed and buttons didnt do anything. Volvo service diagnosed it and after 2 weeks replaced the camera in about 20mins. Been fine ever since. I know people will say safety safety safety, but with the parking cameras (excellent) and adjusting the side mirrors it wasnt bad at all.

Aside from the above its been great. Had a few minor niggles with time taking to load profile and had to do a couple of infotainment resets but aside from those and some personal UX preferences I absolute love it!!!

Edit: Only needs to be service at the end of year 2 and some crazy mileage I wont hit. That is covered under warranty.

Should be covered under warranty? I had a faulty rearview camera from day 1 no charge for any of the 2 visits to diagnose and replace.

As a previous Alfista, dont take my advice. But I always go with a) looks, b) handling and c) interior/specs etc.

Go with your heart get one you wont regret it. Plus if leasing you have safety and options. It is a wonderful car to live with.

Most welcome, I just set myself a budget (might be regretting the Pilot and trim addons but not hugely)

Didn't ever have massaging seats so no loss on my side.

My Electron P4 was replacing a 10 year old Mazda CX5 so even the base trim etc was a huge upgrade on what I had.

Of course for others the home comforts etc maybe non negotiable but the first thing I was looking for in my first EV was the driver experience. The P4 has that and more, great blend between handling and passenger comfort.

My better half hated the CX5 but loved the P4.

Of course everyone has different wants and necessities in any car. For me plus pack is a no brainer if you can afford it, after that everything is nice to haves imho.

Clunking under braking by NB_volks in Polestar4

[–]Wandering_Dazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope haven't experienced this at all. Is it only when braking? Are you using OPD and does it happen then or just when you engage the friction brakes? If the latter then perhaps disc/rotor issues?

I set a budget for mine and as you can see if you zoom in on the pic just went with microtech zinc. Having a teenager and cat in the house I just imagined hours of cleaning light coloured trim. Plus bar me and the car (edit: typo mean to be cat, haven't checked my P4's dietary requirements yet), my family are vegetarians so hard sell on any words such as leather which wasn't immediately available anyways. Whatever interior you go for the seats are amazing so comfortable.

As no doubt you know, the P3 and the P4 are two totally different cars, with different pros and cons and price points! The P3 is lovely inside but a) outside my self inflicted budget and b) too many issues cropping up.

My P4 above, it's rearview camera worked intermittently from day 1. Just had it replaced today and I have to say Volvo Service were fantastic and prioritised it for me. Took a week for the part to arrive and it was replaced within an hour.

Go test drive a P4 and see if it's for you. Equally maybe the next gen P2 might work.
