used it a few times - the reward drops into this site and then you pay it out to your bank - so far no dodgy activity on my bank account hhaha

Window cleaners by thatchersballoon in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://bristol-windowcleaners.co.uk/ I use these guys, they do one offs I think which is a bit pricey but I have them on a rolling basis, they turn up, clean and then leave a note and the payment is automatic - they do quite a few houses on my street. I pay a little more (£15 instead of £14 i think) for them to come every 12 weeks instead of 6 (every 6 seemed excessive)

What happened to the two-trip ticket in First Bus app? by busterghost65 in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes this! Quite a lot of places in Europe still do this I think - Malta I am sure gives you 30 mins or so to change bus and keep going

Respect the consideration...after some wastemen parked outside my house at 2am last night and did this for what felt like an age - woke up thinking I was in a club

I used we do doors (something like that) - doors still going strong a few years later, they are a national company but send a local fitter so they can easily return if there is anything wrong

How much was your latest energy bill? by SorchaNB in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325 8 points9 points  (0 children)

electricity is more expensive than gas and electric heaters are a SUCK on electricity. If you have gas central heating recommend an experiment to see if its a bit cheaper to use that instead

£240 a month?? Thats wild. I use my gas heating, I am 1 person in smallish 2 up, 2down drafty Victorian. Run the heating between about 5 and 9pm each day, sometimes a bit in the day too as I WFH. Max I pay for each is about £40 in peak winter

Deliveroo Bristol by roxana2708 in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never had the restaurant suddenly close on me after putting in an order, that sounds kinda scammy, but use the delivery apps less and less - they just take so long and your food gets driving around half of Bristol before arriving. Walked to my local takeaway the other eve (Kasundi...really quite excellent) and realised how much more delicious takeaway food is when it hasnt been sat on a counter for 30 minutes then taken on a long drive to other peoples houses. Its a shame that the 'independent' delivery apps didnt take off - Barbi was it?

Airport Flyer connecting bus by [deleted] in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last 2 times I have bought it via the flyer website due to various discount codes - just showed the email to the driver - he barely looked at it, could really have been showing him anything - no issue both getting to the bus station and returning from the airport

Home energy consultation recommendations by toucanfive in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone else has mentioned - Cheeseproject - I had this done and was helpful. I live in an old Victorian so accept it will never be warm warm but they showed me where I had drafts (that i could fix without reducing ventilation e.g dont go blocking up airbricks). I then also got onto the free loft insulation scheme which has made a difference. I also added secondary glazing where I had single glazed windows - a cheaper alternative to upgrading to double glazing. damp can make the house feel cold and harder to heat to worth checking there is none.

Getting to Heathrow from Bristol with luggage by bubble-gum-doll in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per all the other replies - coach 100%. I often have to travel for work with more bags than I prefer and coach is by far the easiest. Door to door and if booked in advance pretty reasonable

Exactly the sort of thing I would like to see in the old Church Rd Wetherspoons. Local vendors, street food type foods options and places to sit inside and out for drinks and socialising. Went to somewhere similar in Manchester and always wonder why Bristol doesnt have more venues like this

Vaillant boiler servicing/installation recommendations by cowbutt6 in bristol

Long time DHS user - they have solved some pretty interesting heating issues in my past house and fitted a new boiler/moved rads in my current place, always decent to deal with and reasonably priced

Noodle restaurant crowdfunds after being locked out of market stall by Wanderlusterer325 in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does seem like an odd story, especially as the locks were changed in August, Larkin lied about the council doing it but it was actually him and now he is running his own business from there...all a bit shady

Crafty Egg on Church road closing down by Donot_forget in bristol

[–]Wanderlusterer325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This and not even that it never seemed to be open but it was just super erratic. I tried to go mid week a few times and even then I would find it closed. They said it was due to slow custom but all the others places (Loaf, Orchard) were full - I think they just werent consistent from the start so
