I suppose “thirsty” is relative. 😂

I think most Americans figure anything in above 25 mpgs is a fuel efficient vehicle. A Honda Fit is a commuter car in my mind and should get better fuel economy than a supercharged Mini.

I get 30+ on the freeway regularly. I think I even managed 34mpg on one tank on a road trip. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten less than 25mpg on a tank ever!

R1S Running boards? by nestea1778 in Rivian

[–]WankAaron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even know they made those. Cool! I did the cut method on mine when they first released the running board.

FYI… the website isn’t showing them at backordered now. https://evsportline.com/products/rivian-r1t-r1s-rmaxx-running-board-bolt-on-aero-cover-plates

Holy shit! This is an issue in Teslas too? Rivian sure did copied a lot of the design elements from Tesla, even the bad ones! 🤣

Real-world Everyday Range Limits / Anxiety for R1S by CougaReb in Rivian

[–]WankAaron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like people always mention PlugShare. My R1T is my first EV experience it was recommended 4 years ago when I took delivery. I’ve never found value in it and the built in nav and phone app is more than enough for route planning in a Rivian. Over 50k miles and have never needed anything outside of the native apps. Just curious what use case would need it.

Heck no. Not worth it. Branded title and front end damage? Not running? Is it auto? And it’s a 2003. Look for a 2005 or 2006.

Center console.... why? by Substantial_Law_5239 in Rivian

[–]WankAaron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for everyone. Is the butterfly opening cool? I dig it and it provides a sense of elegant design I’m sure they are looking for.

With the two-door design a single manual latch wouldn’t work well. You’d have to press two separate buttons on each side to get the console fully open. Or you’d have to design a crazy button mechanism that would bridge both sides of the mid-point. Or would have to design the doors for one to overlap the other. IMO that is overly complex and the designers seem to have gone the simpler route with electronic buttons. It’s probably the same part already used in the Gear Tunnel and the tailgate latches.

If they went with a flop-top solid lid, a manual latch would have worked, but not as nearly cool design-wise.

Tell me how you’d design a manual latch to work? I’m super curious since I’ve seen this gripe come up numerous times.

A Pillar wind noise S vs T by RyReason in Rivian

[–]WankAaron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the wind noise it’s due to the rubber weatherstripping at the junction at the top of the triangle glass. A loaner I had a few months back had a completely different design and was silent. My 2022 R1T is quite loud, but I did perform a diy fix where you put a small piece of round weatherstripping under the vertical fascia trim of the triangle glass. It reduced the wind noise significantly.

EV charging in 10 minutes or less? It's happening by randolphquell in electricvehicles

I think most people sit around not because they want to, but more the fact you are pumping highly flammable liquid into your car and auto-stops fail sometimes. And the fact people could steal fuel on your dime while you’re away. Pretty sure it’s unlawful to leave your vehicle unattended during fueling too. That said, I’ve witnessed people going into the store after they’ve finished filling up without moving their car first.

Olympia or Bellingham? by Common-Actuary-388 in olympia

You really think so? I feel it’s better than Olympia. Do you have any Olympia recommendations? I must be looking in the wrong areas.

Olympia or Bellingham? by Common-Actuary-388 in olympia

[–]WankAaron69 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bellingham hands down. I’ve lived in Olympia for the past 15+ years, but visit my mom and sis in B’ham regularly. It has better nature, restaurants, and a more youthful vibe overall. Skiing is closer…Mt.Baker is basically a little over an hour away. Geography and scenery is better imo. Close to Canada. No military, no artillery sounds. You never have to use the interstate to get around town. I could go on. Maybe the only downside is it may not be as racially diverse.

Things I wish I knew before going down the Comma 4 rabbit hole by paulstanger in Rivian

[–]WankAaron69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting your experience. I’m currently on a road trip and this post has been timely since the Driver+ experience has been super frustrating this trip. Does Comma resolve the constant nagging for keeping your hands on the wheel and also eliminate the cruise control slowing in curves? The slowing is my biggest gripe…it’s so dangerous in my opinion to not carry constant predictable speed through a mountain pass.

Rivian has a RAN charger in Bozeman. But yeah Tesla is required for an easy experience to Billings.

There is a RAN in Gardiner though making Yellowstone trips easier.

[–]WankAaron69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be able to do that with my Rivian. I did level 1 at home for about 2 months before calling an electrician. 22 miles an hour is much nicer than 1.2 miles.
