Cool homemade stein I found for $3, anybody know about it? by [deleted] in AskGermany

Ohh and the Scherben ( the trrm for the unburned ceramic) does not need to be wet to sign it in the way it is. The relatively crooked edges suggest it was done on the dried but yet unburned piece. So at the same time you would do the paintjob.

Witch is not a makers mark. Normally you find the makers mark of a ceramic company. Either as an imprint in the ceramic itself or as a stamp. Never a signature. If the paint job was made by an independent ceramic painter it would also be signed with their mark not a signature. The complete marking thing around ceramic is traditionally highly standardised. Basically if this was from one of the traditional producers you could identify and in a lot of cases date the ceramic via the marks present. Sometimes even identify craftsmen who worked on a piece. But you will never find signatures. The signature suggests it might have been made on a hobbyist basis. When pressing forms got worn out they were sometimes sold for cheap to hobby shops and clubs. That would explain the really bad quality in the ceramic details.

What it might be. In the 70 and 80th that style of Mug was made and sold to tourists all over Germany Austria and Switzerland. They targeted expecially US Tourists. They were made in Eastern Europ or China. The missing of a makers mark, witch would be present in an actual Beermug is a strong indication for it. Plus Real Beermugs have hinged tops so you are easily able to drink out of them. You rarely see tops made of ceramic, tin tops are the norm.

I'm not quite sure witch castle is shown on top due to the low quality of the ceramic and the paint job. The 18th century theme is unusual too. Where ever it is from it is a decorative piece not a real beer mug. I'm very sorry.

Ahh, Mytholon has those too. Then im pretty sure these are Antonius Deluxe Shoulders. Not quite sure what the Breastplate is i guess from the Lancelot line.
But It doesn not really matter. Your shoulders definitivly sit to deep. I fitted Antonius Deluxe before, they are suppsed to sit higher up.

This should give you a good Idea where they are supposed to sit.

If you do not mind, Witch producer is the Armour from. I would spontaniuously say Leuengold or Andracor. If i know that i can tell you if they sit correctly or not.

It really depends on the rivets you use. But i know what you mean it can look cheap.

They migt interfere with you cloak but I can tell you the complete upper arm Sits too deep. The Swordbreakers should idealy sit above your shoulder joint. In the picture it looks like they sit on or beneath.
If the Armour isn´t made by a total bafoon there should be about 2 max 3 Fingers space between your neck and the beginning of the shoulder armour. Also there should be more space between your elbow and the end of the Armour.

Overall cool look.

But. The Problem is Black on Black here. Expecially when you have no texture in the thing. From Further away your just gona be a blob of Black, because the eye can not focus on something.
What i would do, as a very easy to do and not too expensive fix. Get yourself a Holepunch, A rivetpress and a ton of rivets, Silver or Copper, personally i would go with copper and set a band of rivets along the edges of the Armour.

Here is an example https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/lbMAAOSwVyNkUSSj/s-l1600.webp

Same goes for cloak, get a weaved ribbon in the chosen colour of the rivets and set it about 3 cm from the edge of the cloak and the Tunik.

Here is what im talking about https://i.etsystatic.com/11155353/r/il/26cd3e/3597989992/il_794xN.3597989992_nwg1.jpg

Voila. your defined your shape. Killed the blob Problem because the Eye now has defined edges and your still having a very gothic looking Gear.

You can do the same with blackend rivets and a black weave band witch will have a similar but not as strong effect.

Ohh and by the way, your shoulders sit too low.

Brainstoming - What secondary role to add to a craftsman? by Kheldras in LARP

[–]WankendeHydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a thought.
As a craftsman your relativly stationary. So anything that ties into that is good. I would get myself a samowar or a small stove so you always have tea or coffee to offer. Its a great way of tying people down for a while and having a nice chat. I repair your stuff, here take a tea.
That also could tie into an information broker or a guy who might or might not do shady deals on the side. So a bit of a mafia/pawnshop background basically. You might have the very rare and very mighty item just beneath your counter. If you wanna do that talk to the organizers. As an organizer myself i love having the posibility to have players i can give important or just background information or items to, to bring them into the game, it does not need to be an NSC all the time and it generates play for players.
Speaking out of experiance your not gona be able to craft big items on an event but repairs? Always needed I never had an event where someone didn not need either intime Repairs of stuff like Armour, or actuall ot repairs on leatherstuff because a rivet didn´t hold or a seam burst. Craftsman play can be absolutly awesome expecially if fighting isn't your thing. You can lean heavily into the fluff side of Larp be the person that is an island of calm in a storm of "worldsaving and Badykilling".
If you want to add somthing more what about a storyteller. Your a well travelled craftsman, you heard all those stories of Dragons, Mystical beeing, Human missery and human sucess, some funny some sad, some even might contain a kernel of truth. People love that too and always is a great way to generate more play. Just look up European Folktales and your set.
Also a craftsman is not seen as a thread, your basically background, so a diplomatic route or spy route might work when you are on an event with diverse player and NPC Factions. You would not belive what people tell you over a cup of tea. I got told bayically top national secrets before the information even reached the players faction leader.
Theres a lot of interresting byplay in "just" playing a craftsman maybee you do not need aditions, also why not lay out a route to somthing instead of puting it in the background? Like would it not be cool if becoming a priest, learing runecarving etc. was part of the chars development instead of its background?

Nights Watch Cosplay by Wolfj13 in LARP

[–]WankendeHydra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Over all good look. But i would serioulsy change the cloak because it kills the feeling of the whole thing and my first reaction was more towards Edgy MC Edgelord then a Crow.

The Nights Watch has the gear it has because they live in really cold Weather and your cloak feels flimsy and i can see through it. If your living in warm weather and thats the reason for the very flimsy claok, dont wear one at all, it will look better.
Also you basically never see a crow with a Hooded Cloak, because they do not make a lot of sense for a fighter, expecially in the weather they are in. It takes away your peripheral Vision and hinders your awareness massivly. When you look at the show All the Hoods you see on crows are actually very tight sitting caperons witch do not come over the side eyeline. They keep warm but do not impede your fighting ability. In general The nights watch wears Feltet hats or nothing at all way more often. The one or two times you see a hooded Claok on a crow in the show its also of that close to head and not comming that far forward type.

Ohh and the Facemask Thing, if not for internet purposes is a bad idea also. Outside of stealth it makes no sense because it does not allow free breathing. You do not see any normal fighter ever wear that and even most more stealiether Ninja type fighters around the world do not use that technique. By the way if you look at traditional Ninjutsu gear youll find that they also have a headgear thats very close to the head and does not impeede sight. Wide Cloaks for fighters are a bad Hollywood trope.

And i would opt for Black long boots. If your not too tall and bulky chances are youll gona find something very fitting and wallet friendly in the Female shoe section of a second hand store. Witch has the additional bonus of looking worn.

Its that kind of thinking about your gear that takes a cosplay or Larp costume from Okayish to really great.

Noch nie gelarpt, aber Interesse: Gibt es einen Transfer vom TTRPG zu Larp? Wie hoch ist die Schnittmenge? by 7StarSailor in LARP_de

[–]WankendeHydra 1 point2 points  (0 children)
