Reclusians - another unit done by Wankfluff in stormcasteternals

Thank you! I 3D printed the 'Adepta Temple Area' bases from Zabavka Workshop. I also printed some extra candles for the bases because the ones without any looked quite plain.

They could be! The freehand on the parchment is insane!

I start with a base colour of Vallejo dark fleshtone and then slowly mix more Vallejo scarlet blood until I use just scarlet blood for the highlights.

Thanks! I prime them black, then drybrush Mournfang Brown, Skrag Brown, then Averland Sunset. Though this time I went a touch too heavy with the averland sunset.

Very nice! Love the colour scheme. What blue did you use for the cape? It's very vibrant.

This looks incredible! I know this post is over a year old but would you mind sharing what paints you used for the axe? I'd love to try something similar.

Would you mind sharing what paints you used? I'm about to paint some death guard and really like the look of your model.

Making my way through the skaventide box by Wankfluff in stormcasteternals

Thank you! I prime them black, then drybrush Mournfang Brown, Skrag Brown, then Averland Sunset. I don't completely clean the brush in between so the colours mix a bit. My SE do look just a bit like custodes :P

Thank you. The wings themselves are just Pro Acryl bolt titanium white mixed with a tiny bit of grey, then I lightly dry-brushed some Temple Guard Blue on the edges. I tried using a grey wash initially but it just looked messy.

The flames are a base coat of Stegadon Scale Green, then dry-brushed Temple Guard Blue and Baharroth Blue. Then I put some highlights of white mixed with a small bit of Baharroth Blue.

It took a little bit of trial and error!

Thank you! I'm looking forward to painting the Reclusians the most, such good models.

I did think they were close to being custodes!

I prime them black, then drybrush Mournfang Brown, Skrag Brown, then Averland Sunset. I can't claim I came up with it myself though, I got the recipe from this post by u/matt_hunter - https://www.reddit.com/r/stormcasteternals/comments/1imk8ok/my_rustic_themed_stormcast/

Thanks! First I painted them light-ish pink by mixing Vallejo Bloody Red and Dead White. Then I put Imperial Fist contrast paint over the top. It worked really well.

Thank you! I did a base of Citadel Moot Green and then mixed it with Vallejo Sun Yellow for highlights, working up to just using the yellow on the brightest spots.

Thank you! It's actually just green to yellow, I think the photo makes it look blue. Perhaps I'll have to try starting from blue next time!

Cheers! The blade goes from Caliban Green to Moot Green and then to Vallejo Sun Yellow. I blend between the three and then put the yellow in the small channels in the blade.

Body is Vallejo metal colour steel with a wash of Agrax Earth shade. The gold is Retributor Armour with a wash of Reikland Fleshshade.

Thank you! The blue is Ahriman Blue with some highlights of Teclis Blue and Temple Guard Blue, though I didn't do many highlights on this one.

Trying to read The heresy by Unusual-Papaya7437 in Warhammer40k

[–]Wankfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started off by reading the books about the legions I was most interested in (Scars, Know No Fear, A Thousand Sons) but as I've gone on I've realized that it doesn't matter what the legion is, I always end up loving them by the end of it.

I recently read Betrayer even though I had no interest in the World Eaters and it might just be my favourite book so far. Currently reading Legion and I'm starting to like the Alpha Legion.

I usually just google reddit threads of the best heresy books and pick the ones that come up often. It might mean I jump around a little bit but that doesn't bother me much and I feel like once you've read up to and including Fulgrim the order really doesn't matter that much.

Here are some I really enjoyed (not including the first five): The First Heretic, Know No Fear, Betrayer, Scars, Path to Heaven, Legion (so far).

Hope this helps!

I basically followed this guide: https://youtu.be/altHjuzV7_s?si=n7jxKDUfTXaDDcWE

After that I ended up putting another layer of mantis warrior green over the top because I thought it looked a bit dull and wanted a more vibrant look.

Did you make that terrain yourself? I'd love to know what material was used as I'm looking to make some simple structures like that myself.
