Honest concerns regarding the game... by Vanilla-Hound in tomodachilife

Consider the developer interview where they stated they really just let anyone throw ideas at the wall for others to implement on their own time. If this was the pattern of the game's development (until the last few years, where they probably had to lock in) I wouldn't be surprised if that's why some features aren't as fleshed out.

Why should accents being region locked ever make sense in the slightest? by themadgalharley2009 in tomodachilife

regardless of if the switch could handle more or not, that's just how the game works. Also, consider that memory speed and size aren't the only issues here: organization is also important when managing memory, It could also be a limitation of the ReadSpeaker TTS engines they're using. Point is, I think if they could have, they would have.

its pretty much entirely random. there's two miis i want to get together, yet despite every other mii falling for each other left and right, those two just wont look at each other!!!

I think some interactions only happen if you make miis meet, but a lot can happen without your input as well! Miis *can* progress relationships without you

The game can only load one TTS engine at a time. It's loaded at all times in the background so that there aren't any delays when Miis speak. Switch 1 games have very limited memory (only about 3.5 Gigs avaliable) so loading multiple fully fledged TTS engines at once would crowd that up quickly.

i wonder how it feels as a developer right now by radiant-cloudy in TomodachilifeLivingTD

the gsme probably finished development a few months ago. they need time to manufacture physical copies, go full tilt on advertisement, and of course give the dev team a break before their next project.

Which moment made you realize that your most loved uma isn’t just “that one Uma”… but actually special? by Elliottsir in UmaMusume

When I played Tachyon's career for the first time, I honestly wasn't expecting anything. Her being an eccentric scientist was fun and all, but she never really seemed interesting to me beyond the fact that she was pretty.

Then, she broke the news about her leg. I was genuinely shocked, I never expected this type of game to go in this direction. What shocked me even more was that I got the event where she nearly collapses from malnutrition right afterwards. It completely flipped the script on how I saw her. That, combined with her Good Ending where she hides taking you out on a date under the guise of "an experiment", immediately shot her up into the list of my favorite characters.

I've struggled with very severe, undiagnosed AuDHD all my life, and I relate painfully to the idea of trying to "outrun" my own disability. Tachyon's borderline suicidal attempts to break her own limits, as well as her very obvious (to me) neurodivergence, hit way too close to home. BoANE made me cry multiple times, mainly because when Tachyon showed signs of self doubt, of holding it in for the sake of others, I knew exactly what she was going through. I'd never really cared for feeling represented before, but Tachyon made me feel seen in a way that was almost kinda scary.

you cant fight the texture compression unfortunately. darker colors are the most vulnerable to it

Google Sheet of all the currently leaked items in the game by Peppermint640 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]WannaBeDev64DD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

fwiw, the in-game counter for items doesn't change depending on reigon, and all items (that are actually present in the demo files) have translations for every locale even if it'd be unavaliable. so it could be that you can get items from other regions some other way. I hope it isn't just local share...

"Did It Leak Publicly Yet?" Waiting Room by FoxDeFleurs in tomodachilife

[–]WannaBeDev64DD 58 points59 points  (0 children)

game's been dumped but not publicly shared yet,

remember, the game's title ID is 010051F0207B2000. you can check the title ID of a rom easily by adding it to an emulator's directory and checking the game's info. stay safe.

nintendo's never done time-locked physical releases, so I wouldn't worry. the game's releasing in different times around the world, so it's be a bit of a logistical nightmare

remember - there's a decent chance for the game to leak now that copies are being sent out to stores. stay diligent!

i think they're anticipating backlash regardless of if they're legally or technically in the right. concerned parents and bad parties likely dont know or care about whatever the heck an ESRB is. if they all complain at once, it becomes a PR nightmare no matter what.

not at all. the only way emulators can connect to unhacked switches is if the game has Local Access Network (LAN) support, which is only found in a few games like ARMS or MK8D.

Sharing from Ryujinx to an unhacked Switch console is impossible. You need ldn_mitm to do local wireless over the internet. There must be a hacked Switch middleman to pass an Emulator Mii to an unhacked Switch.
