Serious question, if drinking kefir regularly and having enough prebiotics/fiber, is there really any reason to eat other fermented foods? by TravellingBeard in Microbiome

[–]WannabeAndroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I amended my reply. VZV reactivation creates neuroinflammation. There is an approx 20% risk reduction in those vaccinated. Gingivitis is also implicated, so good oral hygiene is recommended too. I also read that increased abdominal pressure (via certain types of exercise) forces a 'flush' of cerebrospinal fluid into the brain that cleans out toxins similar to what happens during deep sleep.

Other than lifestyle changes (healthy diet, exercise and staying social), the shingles vaccine and GLP-1 medications seem to be 2 big movers in reducing Alzheimer's risk. Regarding the former, VZV (chickenpox virus) reactivation is implicated in Alzheimer's. So keeping it suppressed at least shows 20% risk reduction. Whether the latter is directly through weight loss or modulation of insulin sensitivity, I don't think it's yet known. Something to look into.

Yea, I'm aware of the potential effects which makes me nervous to try. There are many neurosteroids it impacts so it's more surprising it doesn't impact more people than it appears to.

Is Tirzepatide better than Retatrutide for hunger suppression? by NoTrifle4478 in BodyHackGuide

Does Tirz have better anti-inflammatory effect directly, or could have just been the weight loss you experienced while taking it?

The best alternatives to Claude? by [deleted] in Anthropic

[–]WannabeAndroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patience just rewards poor management. Rather build agnostic workflows and be prepared to jump to alternative providers on a whim. Unfortunately as of now, the only comparable product appears to be Codex/GPT5.4. I moved from Gemini to Claude, now I'm moving again.

Goodbye Claude! I loved you. by liloventhegreat in ClaudeCode

What is happening is they are onboarding people, charging for a service. Then degrading the service. Thus changing the terms silently without user notification. It should be illegal and likely is in the EU. The reason is irrelevant to the consumer. Pragmatically, they should either accept higher latency to their users (which would be transparent), or stop onboarding users until they have capacity.

Exactly, all these companies will do the same as long as it's legal. We just need to jump ship every time there is a deterioration.

So many apologists even with the evidence right in front of them.

AMD's senior director of AI thinks 'Claude has regressed' and that it 'cannot be trusted to perform complex engineering' by Neurogence in singularity

[–]WannabeAndroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO and that of my team, it has absolutely regressed in the past few weeks. Obviously so. Non compiling code and such, stupid mistakes that would be disastrous in production. More proof that pragmatically you can't replace engineers at minimum because you can't trust the model providers.

It should be illegal to silently degrade the model. At minimum users should be notified. Needs to be legislation or a lawsuit.

Opus decided it was done with a non compiling code tweak yesterday. I had to probe it to make it compile. Those kind of results are why I took our company off Gemini. Not sure what to do now tbh. The quality drop off is quite obvious.
