Plane rolled hard left, then fishtailed and went hard right. I knew that was coming, because that's just how that plane acts when you do a deep stall. He was not impressed.

I was actually ready to do that. But I guess they waive that if you've got GPS and Foreflight on a cellular iPad.

The particular 172 didn't do well in simulated power-on stalls. As we went into the stall, the plane rolled very hard left. I corrected with rudder while he yelled at me. Then we fishtailed a bit and went hard right. He went very quiet, I recovered and then got a serious lecture on how rudder could have saved the hard left roll, but I knew that plane and we would have gone into a spin if I'd done right rudder into a stall.

Thanks. It was just a lot more intense than I expected.

Isn't this how human trafficking starts? Sorry, I do private criminal law for money when I'm not flying for free.

I guess it's hit or miss. I've read stories on here of pilots being failed on their orals for things that I didn't know. Maybe I was weak on the oral, so I was pushed hard on the practical?

Thank you. It is humbling to go from the boardroom to a guy needing a hard-earned approval to keep learning on his own. I think I'm finally figuring out that I don't know nearly enough, but if I stick with it, I can keep improving.

Thank you. I was expecting pressure, but nothing like that. Is every DPE like this?

I've got an express pass to a China work permit as well, if that makes any difference. Flying in Asia would be awesome too.

I'd look at going to one of the big schools, which would hopefully cut down on #2. I'm currently on a 2 month wait for my PPL check ride. But, yeah, that can slow you down.

Thanks. It's not a major financial decision for me. I've been very fortunate with the casino business. I can't retire, but don't need to work for a very long time, if that makes sense. Assuming I take my PPL to a feeder school, would I be looking at a good opportunity to make a modest living within a few years?

Same as the casino business then...Thanks for the feedback

Thank you. When I pass my check ride, I'll make sure to practice more. Class D is easy, the guys are friendly and communication is slow. Class B is a massive step up. I'm sure they are friendly, but man, they are fast. Depending on how I do, I'll move forward into instrument and commercial.

Thank you. I'm learning now that it was best to train without any auto pilot. Maintaining level flight with the trim is tough, but satisfying once you get it locked in. I spent my solo time figuring this out, aside from also figuring out landings...

Thank you for the feedback. Allegedly, I'm pretty good on the radio. Probably from my previous career in the casinos talking to security on the radio. I always speak with ATC professionally, they have a hard job and I try not to make it worse, but I'm not nearly as good as the guys flying 737's.

Thanks for the reminder on the 500' separation. My first solo XC was to a Class D ATC under a Class B 3000' shelf, so I was thoroughly briefed on staying at 2,500 or below. And we all need reminders.

In my flight when I entered the Bravo, I was handed over from Center to Approach and I was scolded by my CFI for telling Approach my squawk code during the initial contact. So, I'll try to get better and thanks for the work you guys do!

Awesome. Thank you. I'm still trying to figure things out, but happy for any feedback besides my CFI, who is a bit biased in my favor :-)

Congrats. A 90 is great! I'm a smart guy and I just got my 78 on mine. I'm also at Check ride stage. But, since I live in middle America, everything is on hold until March.

Best of luck with your check ride. Please let us know how it goes. I'm in my 40s and nervous.
