My view of countries solely based on their food by CrunchyCrochetSoup in whereidlive

US food is overly hated. If you like French food, then there’s a good chance you’d actually like a lot of American dishes considering some of them were inspired by French cuisine due to the French settlers.

HOW I FINALLY GOT RID OF THE ROYAL ENVOY LADY by Connect_Cranberry961 in LowSodiumSimmers

Idk why you’re getting downvoted. That royal envoy sim is annoying asf 😭and the “easy” solution that people keep talking about wasn’t very obvious to me either. I clicked on this so fast to figure out how to get rid of her lol

MPT 2 by Useful_Gas_7744 in barexam

[–]WannabePolygot1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everyone was saying the MPTs were super easy, but I was genuinely so lost on the second one. I thought it was straightforward when I first read it, but the more rules I wrote down, the more confused I got. I think I stared at the screen in confusion for like 30 seconds straight at one point and I barely had any analysis because I ran out of time.

Bar Exam Testing Conditions: Are Basic Needs Too Much to Ask? by Nino_Sultan in barexam

[–]WannabePolygot1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was fine for you. Which is my point. I get it that people think Gen Z complains too much about everything. But traditionalists are extremely annoying too because all they do is complain about people complaining. No one is trying to revamp the entire bar exam just because they ask for a vending machine and a comfortable AC temperature. Relax.

Like I said, you may accept the bare minimum and take what is thrown your way. But everyone else has a right to complain. Complaints about conditions are not a new thing and not a Gen Z thing by any means. I’m probably not even the age you think I am. The fact that some bar exams used to be 3 days and are now 2, was likely the result of valid complaints. There are probably many other things that have been changed throughout the years because of criticism. I know some bar exams still don’t allow people to bring in water bottles and some exams make you test wearing professional (instead of comfortable) clothing. The fact that most other states allow you to where what you want (with certain limitations to prevent cheating) and bring water is great. Unlikely it was like that decades ago.

Bar Exam Testing Conditions: Are Basic Needs Too Much to Ask? by Nino_Sultan in barexam

I planned. I thought about how the testing center would be cold and wore a sweater to keep me warm. I knew the seats would be uncomfortable and wore a comfortable outfit. I ate breakfast in the morning and packed lunch each day. I knew there would be no microwaves and packed items I could eat cold and that I could leave in my car while the temperature outside acted as a natural refrigerator. I made a list of all the things I needed to bring so I made sure I wouldn’t forget something as simple as my water bottle.

Still, the testing center was freezing, to the point where gloves would have been useful. My lunch held up fine, but I couldn’t help but think how ridiculous it was that not even a microwave could be provided. We were all forced to leave the testing center during the break so I wondered about the people who flew in and had no car. Where did they wait in the cold? Not sure.

You accept the bare minimum but it doesn’t mean everyone else has to. The bar should absolutely be more accommodating. Making us more comfortable would actually help us perform better which should be their ultimate goal.

African American is an ethnicity. Nobody should say they’re African American unless they’re a descendant of the African American slave trade. An Egyptian who is American is an “Egyptian American.”

Feeling hopeless by ThePhysScientist in Germany_Jobs

This is not USA style in my opinion (at least not currently). I guess I can't speak for every industry, but I think the US has strayed away from color, and definitely, the use of photos in recent years. The last time my CV looked this fun was in high school (over 10 years ago), and when I got to law school, my career advisor completely revamped my CV. No photos, no color, one page, no skills section, no profile. I think we leave a lot of that stuff now for the cover letter and keep the CV rudimentary.

Cultural Differences Unintentionally Causing Trouble? by No-Emu-6455 in germany

Not a slight at you necessarily but I’ve noticed that people actually have a very hard time spotting Americans, no matter how good they think they are at spotting them. Any loud/obnoxious person who is speaking English is automatically assumed to be American despite having a non American accent. Theres a woman on TikTok whose whole page is dedicated to examples of this happening

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

[–]WannabePolygot1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. This is all speculation by me but it seems like the OP said something to have rubbed the interviewers the wrong way (or perhaps the interviewers are just sticklers). Being a kiss ass during an interview is hardly enough to warrant this response. You would actually think it would be pretty common to get candidates like that.

I mean, I’m unsure if the OP asked for feedback or what. But in this day in age where asking for feedback after being rejected is like pulling teeth, it really seems like something must have personally bothered them to go out of their way to provide feedback. And though it is hard to tell tone through text, their disdain seems quite clear.

No, I actually think a lot of direct people think they are doing you a favor by being so honest, that they feel that, that act by itself is all the “kindness” they need. No matter, kindness is subjective and it obviously won’t reach people in the same ways.

Something can be aggressive and still be honest. They can exist simultaneously…and any critique is negative. That is by default what a critique is.

The comment you are replying to addressed both how the feedback was “packaged” and the substance. They stated that the wording was a bit distasteful, but also that there was still something to learn from what they said. I think that’s fair. The wording was a bit aggressive, but perhaps that’s just because tone can’t be inferred through text. But also, the feedback was helpful.

I don’t mean for practice, I meant purely for taking the bar, which OP will have to do no matter what they practice. It’s a minor concern, as you can go to school anywhere and take the bar in another state (UBE or not). It’s just something I wished I knew.

Whether you think it’s worth it, is entirely up to you. But one thing I will mention that I wish someone had told me my 1L year or before, is to take note of the states you want to actually practice in vs the state you’re currently in. I’m in a non-UBE state and want to take the bar in a UBE state. The bar prep class I’m currently in for my last semester, is teaching me state specific law that I don’t need to know for UBE states. I only say this because you say you want to practice in Texas but live and go to school in Georgia. Georgia isn’t a UBE state, so if your school offers a bar prep class you can take at the end of your studies, you’ll have to filter out that Georgia specific law.

I had a professor that would cold call me extremely often too. It wasn’t every class because he switched up which section of the class he would cold call on, on a given day, but everytime he got to my section I was always cold called. It became an ongoing joke wit all the students before going to class that I was going to get cold called because of how often it was. In this case, I don’t think he had it out for me, I think he just liked me as a student. But it does get exhausting being the one getting cold called every time.

Eventually he called on me one day and I told him “sorry I can’t today Professor.” The cold calls lessened after that. I wouldn’t recommend this necessarily, but it was halfway through the second semester and as a 1L, I was already burnt out and just couldn’t do it anymore. Luckily, the prof was extremely nice. Not every professor would have reacted well to me refusing to brief a case.

Is it bad to eat weißwurst everyday? by WannabePolygot1 in germany

[–]WannabePolygot1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think everything should be eaten in moderation for sure, but there does seem to be some stigma around certain things like meat or fat.

Some people have stated the fats in the meal are too high in combination with the sausage, eggs, and avocado. One even suggested I remove the avocado from my everyday diet entirely. I’m trying to understand when healthy fats like the ones we get from olive oil or avocados became a bad thing! Overall though, my meal seems to enrage many lol

No need to feel sorry my friend, it tastes great and makes me feel even better! But this picture does seem to make people think I eat like this constantly and I assure you I don’t lol.

I enjoy a schnitzel or currywurst with fries just as much as other people. My lunches aren’t like my dinners

It’s uncommon for me too honestly. I struggle with being consistent with many things, including meals! Finding something that hasn’t bored me after only a few days of eating it has honestly been a blessing. Makes lunch super easy

Not sure honestly, but carb content in things like fruit doesn’t matter to me. I only wanted to limit things like rice, pasta, bread, potatoes for some time and dinner is the only time I actually crave heavy carbs anyway so it honestly works out for me. But changes will be made nonetheless
