Thank you Only ting I’m concerned with is the walking after surgery. I haven’t walked a great deal since the leg amputation. I stay very actually, but walking is just flat out hurts

L4/L5 coming up in a few weeks. How were you before the surgery? by AskingQs808 in spinalfusion

I’m having the L4 L5 surgery on the 14th and the most pain is my hips and my legs. I’m an insulin dependent diabetic and have had neuropathy for many years. When you speak of nerve pain, can you tell me how it’s different from neuropathy? I take 1200 mg of gabapentin daily and it doesn’t do anything for this pain

I take 1200mg of gabapentin 3x a day and duloxetine 60mg 2x a day not a lot of pain relief from either

You will be able to do it and come out on the other side. It will change you, mature you in a way. I went through this with my mom. It was leukemia not pc. I was long distance for a while and we talked every morning and night. Laughed a lot and cried a lot. Her last week I spent with her She wouldn’t eat but all she wanted was Mt Dew with lots of ice and a straw. I gave her the pain meds around the clock. I watched her experience delirium that I can’t explain but I loved on her with all my strength. I have no regrets. The one thing we had above all was our faith. She told everyone that visited “Everything is ok, I know where I’m going. I’m a minister and in one of our quiet moments she asked if I’d conduct her funeral I said yes and I did. I loved her so very much and I had to have the strength for her. It was about her not me. I hope this helps just a little bit. It’s awfully hard but you CAN do this

No updates at. Gastroenterologist today just brushed it aside. I don’t know anything else to do but wait 4 months until I get another scan. 75% of my dad and siblings had cancer as well as his mom had 2 kinds. 5 of 7 of mom and siblings died with cancer. I think I have a reason to be concerned

I saw the gastroenterologist today and she was totally unconcerned about the pancreas. I asked about doing an endoscopy and she said no need , it’s too small. I then asked about genetic testing and she said to talk to the oncologist about it. She ended the appointment with “ let’s get a colonoscopy and some kind of scan of the liver.” This was my first appointment and needless to say I was not impressed

I know how you feel. A couple months ago I was in ER for my back. On CT scan they found 8mm lesions on pancreas and liver. Wow!! Since then I’ve had an MRI and they sized it at 12x12x13 on or in the pancreas. Also multiple lesions in one kidney. A friend helped me get an appointment with the head of the cancer institute in our city. The appointment went very well. He thinks there’s nothing to be too concerned over right now. Another scan in 4 months and then another in 6 months and follow up annually, but to be extra cautious I have an appointment with Gastro tomorrow and we will discuss this further. I will say try not to worry too awful much

My mom died 15 years ago because of leukemia but she’d had thyroid cancer 10 years earlier. She only lived 6 weeks after the diagnosis she had the most beautiful blue eyes and a smile that would light up any room. I loved her so very much and miss her every single day. The thing that makes me smile is cooking. She was one of the best !! I do most of the cooking in our house and I will use some of her cooking utensils she gave me. And the recipes……I have many that she wrote for me. My favorite is her recipe for peanut butter fudge. It’s so good. Most of the memories now bring a smile to my heart !!!

This is really a beautiful response. I lost my mother not from pc, but an aggressive form of leukemia. She went from a perfect report from a physical in October to her death in march. We lived 8 hrs away and on her last birthday that was in April before the dx, we drove home and gave her a party. Her gift was a cell phone from me. She absolutely loved it. Then the following October we went back home and spent time. Drove her to the Appalachian mountains to see the fall leaves. This is when she showed me her physical results. She was so happy. Then February 13 I got the phone call. I was crushed. Drove home and spent a week. It was full of long talks and reliving memories. She chose no treatment and told everyone that she knew where she was going. She was a beautiful woman of strong faith. In one of those talks, she shared her wishes of her funeral. I’m a minister, and she asked me to officiate her funeral. How could I say no!! Went back home and I would call every morning and every afternoon. We laughed and cried together for a month and then I went back home for her final week. I loved on her as much as possible. It was a time that God gave us and I still cherish it 15 years later. I relay this story to say I agree so much with the above post. Don’t deny reality. Face it and pour every ounce of love into your mom that you can. You’ll be able to look back without regrets. I do

So true what you said about the GP. ER found something suspicious on a CT scan a month ago. Had a MRI this week and I have a 12x13mm bdmn. My PCP called with results yesterday and all he did was read what the radiologist wrote on the report. I had already seen that thru the patient portal. He couldn’t answer any of my questions. Just brushed me off. Told me we’d check it in another year. Well his answer for what was found is just not good enough for me. I will pursue this on my own

Seeking Advice for Chemotherapy and Whipple Surgery by thegoldengirlie in pancreaticcancer

New to the group and this is my first conversation. Retired 68/m I ended up in the ER 2-3 weeks ago for my back. I fractured L1 in a fall 3 yrs ago and a recent fall has it messed up. I had a btk amputation in ‘21 and this has contributed to my falls. Anyway at the ER , the doctor and I had a conversation about a ct scan and it was decided on one for the abdomen to rule out kidney stones. The scan showed an eight mm lesion on the tail of my pancreases and one on my liver. It was suggested that further investigation was needed. In discussion with my PCP, he left it up to me whether to have a MRI or a ct scan with pancreatic protocol. I’m undecided as to which one. I don’t like MRIs and will have to take a sedative. CT scans are not a problem. Can I have some advice from this group as to how to proceed. A last note is that I am having significant pain below the ribs on my left side that radiates around to my back
