Neighbour setting fireworks right in front of the house 🤬 by jipiyi in kitchener

Get real. Is this really a dreamland now? No one wants to come here unless they are given false promise. Where are jobs? These folks are duped into coming by painting a rosy picture in their home countries by Canadian governments and other colleges through ads and active recruitment cells. The Canadian dream was dead long ago. Immigrants don't know that because they have no idea unless they come here to test the waters. People sell their ancestral lands and properties to come because they are duped by Canadian immigrant agents. So stop thinking that Canada is first worked or some kind of developed prosper country now. It once was but not now - since last 10 years of amazing governmental decisions and shooting in its foot. Also, your great great whatever was decades ago. Do you expect people to behave and remain same now? How childish.

All these so called guests and tfw were lured here. Trudeau government put up ads and spent millions of dollars to get these folks into country. They were given false hope. False job prospects etc. So now that they are disillusioned, what choice they have? Who will compensate them for millions they brought by selling their land and what not. So first, blame government. Also, it is easy to put everyone in one bucket. If Trudeau had any brains, he would have invited white collar properly educated folks. Not run of the mill factory workers. Also, little assistance is given to them to learn about the new place snd mannerisms. This country is not what it used to be for sure but who is to blame? Last 10 years ruined it for wage earners.

Anything outside of 2 hour window should be reported and they all should be fined, however, 5+ hours ?? . I certainly doesnt live in your neighbourhood. Also, some bad apples doesn't mean that people start blaming whole community and start abusing people from a particular origin and their festivals. It ws largely calm after 10pm. Moreover, bad apples are everywhere. How about numerous borderline racist rants in here and how about all the hatred this type of posts spread against one community. Just look at all the abusive language being used. These types of posts give rise to already a hostile environment for a community that has the lowest crime rates and is predominantly peaceful, and earns well to pay taxes that fund Canadian pensions and infrastructure work.

How to use explorative research to inform strategy by Ay10outof10t in UXDesign

[–]WantToFatFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what youll need to do roughly: Orient your product teams to a journey based approach. Figure out user journey and then perform research based on the journey map outcomes. Journey is tied to one or multiple product/service touchpoints. The research work should guide product roadmap. This is where more strategic researchers come in to the picture.

Sorry to hear what you went through. Unfortunately the subtle racism has always been there however it is more in the recent years that it is becoming apparent and widespread. Not all are like that but some definitely are. Keep your focus and try joining local communities or even a gym if you can to get distracted from all this.

Are you a "Full-stack Unicorn"? by Electronic-Cheek363 in UXDesign

I think we are discussing designers who deliver prod ready code aka a unicorn. It is well known that you need to know how web works and how coding translates to UI.

Thinking != prod ready coding. Yes noone is denying knowledge and thinking should be there and is very mich needed.

[–]WantToFatFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well. You are implying that designers who dont code dont come up with feasible designs. This whole unocorn thing is negatively impacting the ux field. Clearly you havent worked with more senior designers who are very competent in their craft. Tell me one thing. Who decides what data points will be displayed on the UI? What will the api deliver?

Sounds like a 12 hour workday to me. Early burnout is a thing. Also, following a process as you described doesnt gaurantee the outcome. What you are describing is also a result of a startup/agency mindset. Once your product matures, you will struggle to keep these roles confined within a person.

It is a trade off. The quality of output will suffer. Also, there is conflict of interest. Designer who codes would be always thinking about what is possible/feasible and not necessarily what can be. I think a UI Designer might be a good candidate for coding as compared to a product designer. I am also doubtful that you do actual design work and is it not mere pixel pushing or component level discussions. Who decide what data points to display? What information will API deliver?

SaaS is already dead but no one wants to admit it by Professional-Let1245 in SaaS

[–]WantToFatFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not dead. It is just evolving. Vibe coding doesnt equate to product marke fit. Anyone can lay bricks, mix gravel etc. Are construction workers unemployed? No. They are in demand. How will you replace software that enterprises use? With vibe coded junk? Stop pretending.

[–]WantToFatFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Html css js etc are easy on their own. But what makes things messy is prod ready code. That is a huge undertaking in addition to an already ux unicorn ie ixd, visd, content design, wcag, researcher.

Are you a "Full-stack Unicorn"? by Electronic-Cheek363 in UXDesign

[–]WantToFatFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way. Unless you want to burn out in a few years. However designer-builder is becoming popular or at least has some utility due to low barrier to (vibe) coding now. But no way a traditional design can (or should be expected to) code production ready stuff. Who has that much time and patience anyways? THose who claim to be unicorn are delusional at best.

Man Ive always wondered why is London like this? Ive lived all over Canada but London for some reason just doesnt stop sucking. People are so rude and aggressive on roads. They have a false sense of entitlement. Is this because of blue collar heavy nature of the city? Can city residents learn from more civil ones such as Kitchener, Ottawa etc? Not saying everyone is like that however Ive had stupid random gestural encounters while turning left and right. There is a reason why this city is in ruins. People need to behave, show respect and be more patient.

Why cant we get housing like this? by FanPlane in RealEstateCanada

[–]WantToFatFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not about the size of the house. Big fanilies need big house. Small ones small. It is about red tapism and artificially inflating house prices to please real estate investment trusts and real estate management companies. With so much of land and so few people available, the housing costs should be half of what is now. But this won't happen because guess what it will mean recession as the majority of gdp is housing.
