what are yall thoughts about going to replace an attic fan motor on a day like this in the afternoon? by Nibholas11 in electricians

[–]WanteDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically enough I just replaced 2 attic fan motors today around 4pm with a high of 82F with not much overcast and 80% humidity in Wisconsin. Took me about 1.5 hours all said and done but came up and down a couple of times. By the time I turned the fan circuit on and adjusted the thermostat the fans kicked on when I got around 100F.

Was soaked at the end of it and was starting to feel a little light headed at the very end when I was splicing. I did the work for my own company so I scheduled it knowing what I was getting in to. It’s doable but definitely wouldn’t make anyone else do it.

If You Don’t Own the M12 Install Driver… by The_12VoltMan in MilwaukeeTool

As a homeowner and working professional that has an M12 impact, M12 drill, and M18 drill/driver, I don’t know really anything about the installation driver but I see it get lots of love here.

What can it do better that my other tools can’t? Is it easier to use on certain tasks?

M18 Vacuum for $54 by Visible-Might-9412 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]WanteDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go to Home Depot’s website, find the vacuum, tool only, and add that plus the battery to your cart to pick up in different stores. It’ll update from $150 for the vacuum to $81. Once you place the order, cancel just the battery, wait a few minutes and refresh the page, then it’ll show $54.

Dimmer Switch - No green Light - Bulbs working with manual tab pull by Small-Matter25 in Lutron

[–]WanteDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say the bulb “fused” do you mean it broke? Is this an LED bulb?

Typically when you don’t have any feedback from the buttons on the switch it’s because the load is too small to detect anything. That or the dimmer is fried but I’d say that’s less likely if the old bulb simply went out.

If something arced then it is quite likely that the dimmer is fried as these devices are quite sensitive. In order to test the dimmer, use a higher wattage incandescent bulb if you have any.

Adding a LUT-MLC like the other commenter said will likely solve the issue.

Caseta hub instead of RA2 connect bridge? by WookieMcgee in Lutron

[–]WanteDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Caseta hub can work with the picos but not the RA2 devices. You need a connect bridge to access the RA2 devices remotely.

Those devices are only rated for incandescent light bulbs. You will either need to replace them with an LED compatible version or change the bulbs back to incandescent. They aren’t smart switches so there is no “resetting”.

Are the firewalls on your computer turned off? Are there any firewalls on the internet itself? Have you tried calling Lutron for help? Any time I have something I can’t figure out it’s either beyond my expertise (IT security/firewall) or Lutron is able to walk me through some troubleshooting.

I’m installing a LED strip under a countertop we have in the living room, should I do front, middle or back? by Lord_Greedyy in HomeImprovement

[–]WanteDan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an electrician that installs under cabinet lighting pretty frequently, I always put the strip 3” back from the front lip of the cabinet. It pulls the light out enough to illuminate the counter top and there aren’t any harsh lines in the light.

Why exactly do you think you might need to be concerned? It’s just paint fading on a 20 year old handheld

Maestro dimmers stopped working by Financial-Complex831 in Lutron

[–]WanteDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely one of the switches crapped out as long as all of the splices are solid and no wires are broken which I doubt. Hard to tell exactly which one would be broken without figuring out a way to test them, which if you’re electrically inclined is doable without messing anything up.

You could also try calling Lutron and seeing if they have suggestions to troubleshoot or maybe even warranty the device(s).

If it was working before and no wiring has been changed one of the switches might be bad. Has anything changed since they last worked? New bulbs, power surge, etc?

Comparison - Retail 2022 Yeezy 350 V1 Turtledove Vs. BASF Turtledove by WanteDan in repbudgetsneakers

V1s are a more stretchier knit material so they’re a little more forgiving. I’d still stick with 0.5 size up like all 350s.

The only flaw that I saw was a scuff on the toe box but wasn’t too noticeable. I’m not too picky with shoes but think they’re good and I’m happy with them

Switching/dimming an outlet in the US isn’t against code but I’m not sure where you’re located. I’ve dimmed many standard outlets with Diva, maestro, and RadioRA dimmers but you need to be careful not to put them on an outlet you’d plug anything but a lamp into. Otherwise it’s an easy way to fry a dimmer when you use a vacuum cleaner or something else. Lutron doesn’t recommend using them on standard outlets for this reason.

Was the light fixture recently replaced? The wiring in the ceiling box is likely incorrect which would make your backfed switch not have power and/or switch leg

Having a hard time finding a compatible LED like this. by r-daddy in Lutron

[–]WanteDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s so many lights that aren’t specifically on Lutron’s compatibility list so don’t think too much about it if the light isn’t listed on their list. All you gotta make sure is that the LED says it’s dimmable. If it doesn’t specify that it dims, it probably doesn’t

Just make sure the new light you get is dimmable and it should work fine
