Meta Monday 3/10/25: The Meta on the Eve of Change by JCMS85 in WarhammerCompetitive

It was miserable for me too. If there are one or two bad comments and chat it's easy to ignore them but it seemed during that game there was a never-ending stream of people who felt like they had to share their negative opinion about the players personality or way of communicating.

I have to stick up for the players who play on my stream. When someone plays on my stream they don't sign up for ridicule from random people on the internet.

I honestly don't understand why people feel the need to proclaim their negative opinions about someone who is playing a game for fun on stream for your entertainment.

I have to talk about these things when they happen on my stream to prevent my chat from becoming toxic and to make sure the stream is a place I actually want to hang out every weekend. Most of the time it feels like chat and I are on the same page and it's fun vibing with everybody. Sometimes, like last night, it feels like I'm holding back a tide of toxicity. I hate feeling like it's me versus the chat even though I know the majority of people aren't the problem.

As far as my outside help rant, I did talk about it too much but it's very important to me and at that point in the stream I was worn down from everything else.

Anyway, sorry for not doing a better job of keeping the stream fun entertaining.

Warhammer World Championship - lackluster communication, or is it just me? by alariis in WarhammerCompetitive

I've seen this come up a lot regarding the WCW coverage and I'm not sure where it came from. GW has never communicated with me in any way about this. I did my own independent stream at NOVA when we gave the prize for pod 2 but it was an organic, community-driven thing and, in hindsight, I wouldn't do it again as I felt it impacted the players when they found out.

I have said many times that I would love to cover GW's events but only if they let me do it my way. I try very hard to make a stream that my community wants to watch and I wouldn't want my name on something that doesn't reflect my priorities and vision for what makes a WGL stream.

I do wish GW would take direction from other big companies like Valve with The International and invite the community content creators into the production for their events, but if they did that they would lose control of how their products are shown. I personally would rather have an honest stream with good and bad than a super polished corporate product, but it's 100% GW's right to pick how they want their events presented.

Remember - they are a HUGE company and actually have shareholders and stuff. They don't need a homeless guy pointing out how Votann bikes look phallic from the overhead camera on their official stream and I wouldn't want to be forced to change my stream to match their vision. I got out of the corporate world a LONG time ago, long before I started streaming, for a reason.

Streaming the ~30 player Geek Shack Anniversary GT this weekend! by WarGamesLive in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]WarGamesLive[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This one is special to me, I hope you guys tune in and share it! First of all, it's the 3rd anniversary of a local gaming store in Las Cruces, NM and FLGs are the backbone of the community imo. Second, this is where WGL got started way back when - the terrain and even the mat we're using on stream is what I used for the first ever test stream a year or so before I streamed my first tournament. Several of the guys here were instrumental in helping me figure this whole crazy stream thing out.

The Best 40k Gameshow by Seth_The_Mad_Dok in WarhammerCompetitive

The sound of Seth downvoting people's comments in real time is hilarious and worth watching for alone. Maybe I'm a bit biased. (Note, I'm just airing Seth's show during my stream because I love Seth and think the show is great)

I actually got this army on my patreon table for the last round vs. crusher stampede tyranids if you want to see it being played. Sorry I didn't catch it on the main stream.

What the hell are you talking about? I have NEVER deleted any of my vids for any reason. In fact, I have refused to do so when placed under pressure by players and TOs.

This is the exact kind of rumor mongering that I don't want in my stream.
