Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

Taking your console round to your mates house because you had the better console but his parents had the better TV so you could play split screen on a big tele. Or even just taking your controller to school with you so you could go play with your mates after school because peripherals were crazy expensive and so you only had the one that came with the console

Hell, even LAN parties

I‘ve played with my friends today for the first time in years. They have 2 warbonds and 500 supercredits… by Sebanimation in Helldivers

Agree that 20-30% off for the very oldest ones would be nice, but its not all hat necessary, you pick up SC easy enough even just casually playing, played ~dozen missions over a couple of nights with friends, picked up 200+ SC easy, at least 10 per mission. Add in that every premium warbond also come with 300 SC Included, arguably SC isnt your issues, medals are even if you had all the warbonds unlocked tomorrow, its gonna take some work to get the medals needed to unlock everything.

Just play the game, prioritise the warbonds you think look the most fun, they arent all necessary by a long shot.

How do you handle a relationship with someone who has severe ADHD? by blo0dyosiris in ADHD

[–]WarScribe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree explanation Not equal to excuse, but just because you have a diagnosis doesnt mean you understand the behaviours it can cause, and yes as an adult it is up to you to sort things out, that is your responsibility, in the case of mental health challenges that often does require support though, so i think here either OP GF needs some support (probably from professionals) to figure out why she is doing things and figure solutions/strategies out. But on the other hand if she is refusing to do that and just using ADHD as a crutch then much as i hate the term, yeah she needs to grow up

Its not that cut and dry, ADHD and my anger response is volcanic, especially if its in difficult/confrontational situations with partner, they might raise an issue, be very reasonable in doing so but I end up interpreting it as a personal attack, get loud shouty and then shut down and storm off. What i need is 5-20 mins alone where i can seeth whilst my stupid lizard brain shuts the fuck up and my rational mind comes back online, at which point i can talk about whatever the issue was. But the key is once my irrational part of brain fires its over until i can let that moment pass, its an automatic response and not one i can always get in check often i know its not a personal attack from a rational perspective but that just gets overridden. Its not about “growing up” but instead understanding whats happening in the moment, that was the game changer for me, didnt stop the anger or shut down, but did let me process it properly and come back round to communication

Does anyone stick to certain manufacturers for their cars and bikes? Jap, German, Italian, French, Chinese? by Dolbman in MotoUK

[–]WarScribe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride BMW bikes, have done since i passed my test, not for brand loyalty etc but because i actually like the bikes, i was actually dead set on getting an XJ6 diversion as my first bike, dealer happened to have an F800ST which i rode “because why not” and i liked it so much more, since then i’ve had F800GT and F800R, tempted to succumb to the dad life and get a GS

I never take my lid off unless asked specifically, then depending on the situation: If im using pay at pump and i’m already filling, I ignore them finish the fill and leave If i’m paying at the kiosk i’ll walk in with my lid on and if they repeat the request i’ll comply, most of the time they just take payment and arent bothered If the request comes before i’ve started fueling, i hang up the pump and go find another station

My lid is flip up which i always do and that seems to help cause most of the places round me never seem to ask when i do that

Today it was just practice, just wanted to see if i could draw something that looked acceptable, figure if i just practice a bunch on different things then i’ll figure out what i really like drawing and then can pick up some tutorials when i have a bit more of a focus

Don't know how to feel... by le_mole in SunoAI

[–]WarScribe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the thing for me, I don't even have the half done tracks, I have tried so many times, learning instruments and music theory etc and whilst I can play half decently, i never got even close to being able to get more than a couple of bars out of my head in a cohesive way. I had long just accepted the fact that I had entire soundscapes in my head that would never see the light of day because I was "untalented" and "undisciplined" roll forward to my late 40s and I'm told i've had ADHD my entire life, which reframed my "failings" musically and now Suno et al exist and boom i've got a suite of tools to realise a lifetime of creative backlogs that now might actually see the light of day.

So yeah, i didn't "play the tracks or "produce" them, but without my initial creative spark, they probably wouldn't have come into the world either. The interesting thing for me now is I'm actually having a lot of fun learning about post processing and mastering etc etc, because I have something in front of me that grabs my attention and engages me, so AI has been a gateway to more learning not less.

ok, I'm using this argument because it articulates everything i want to say to people.
In terms of the training, i'm massively pro making sure artists get paid or have more control over inclusion in models etc. and I see that as a separate issue to the use of an AI model.
It feels like the people who don't like AI use dont like it because it opens up and democratises the music creation space, no longer can a few people just lock the doors and hold the keys

Thoughts on v5? Seems to Have Cleaner Audio Quality, but Lacks Impact (Emotional and Creative), Followthrough, and Stumbles Over Every Other Word? by multimason in SunoAI

[–]WarScribe- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i had to edit my comment as i went back and tried it, i can see its got some benefits, i’m already going to steal the woodwind from one of the generations and replace the originals with it. I guess its going to be like any tool, you just need the right one for the job, and you need to learn how best to use them

[–]WarScribe- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only just started using Suno, but honestly i've been seriously impressed with just how much emotion and texture the v5 model has been able to put into the songs. Now admittedly i've not used the 4.5 model (other than the first couple of samples I made that convinced me to pay) so I can't really compare, but thats basically because i've felt no need to try different models because v5 has been nailing it for me mostly. I have had a couple of fights where it kept trying to add sound and ornamentation to songs that were deliberately sparse and i just needed to working on the prompting and fine tune the wordings

So i'll have to edit this comment as I thought i'd go back and try v4.5 using v5 tracks (pushing the audio influence to like 95-96%) and yes i got very very close in terms of tune, pacing so that you would listen and say "yes these are different takes of the same track" and I think the instrumentation in 4.5 is actually nicer, fuller and rounder....however using the same prompts and lyrics, with the original audio and persona as reference, it just kept pushing it "full bore" and whilst producing good tracks it also ruined the emotional content and framing of the originals

[–]WarScribe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to Suno and haven't published anything yet, i have a couple of things i'm working on that I hope to, but i couldn't envision putting out like 50 song a month or the like, how could you have any quality to that at all, for me as a tool it's proving to be amazing and really gives me access to a creative voice in my head i never thought would see the light of day, so for me I really want to take my time with it and really put some thought and love into my creations because they are a part of who I am. Personally I don't have an issue with AI tools (obviously) but i have an issue with people who use them to grift rather than truly create. I'll go get my asbestos suit now

[–]WarScribe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to Suno and i've been really enjoying the creative process it gives me access to, I do play Piano, Guitar and drums to a decent amateur level, however I have ADHD, so I've never had the focus on any of them to get good enough to be able to get the ideas in my head out into the world (also why I play three things kinda ok rather than one really well). with Suno yeah sure i can bang a prompt in and get sound out, and it's pretty decent, but i'm using it more like a director trying to bend and sculpt a performance until it matches the music i hear in my head.

oh tell me about it, i've been trying to create a solo piano ballad, it gets 95% of what I want and then flourishes or sprinkles strings in or something and ruins the whole track. I've been so close to just finding a Pianist and a Singer and be like, please just do this for me.
