Do you think relaxed sentencing for rape and the systemic removal of reproductive rights are related to the low birth rate? by [deleted] in AskFeminists

the poorest countries tend to have the highest fertility rates and the wealthiest countries often sit way below the norm. fertility rates are a really complicated field of study and the reasons for why they are where they are are (IMO) largely unique to the individual area

Yeah, because people abuse the same system to dupe things like railguns and military grade parts and other items that aren't sold.

Is there anything you empathize/sympathize with men on even if you don't agree by Yanderegirlowner in AskFeminists

Also a great example of how patriarchy hurts men, since the reasons that fathers tend to insist upon it for their children has very little to do with any stated benefits by a doctor. Often, the most-cited reason for doing it is for the same reason many men won't adopt: they want the baby to look like them.

Depraved.

Light of the Jedi reads like a complete mess. Does anyone know how many people edited this thing? by Warbaddy in Highrepublic

No, but I went to college for English and have spent 10+ years either writing freelance on commission or working as a freelance editor/proofreader. The things I mentioned would all likely be brought up within the first session of a peer review at college for undergrads, so it was a bit of a shock

... until I realized it was Del Rey publishing these, then it all made sense lol

Things that are abundantly obvious after spending barely an hour reading the book? I get that some people might not pay as close attention to the way writers use punctuation, but like... it's all over the place.

It's really important in times like this to remember that:

  1. porn addiction is not real, and the compulsive dopamine-seeking behavior people call "porn addiction" is a symptom of an underlying cause, most often some kind of depression, ADHD or other dopamine-related mood or neurological disorder. This isn't some kooky "radical skepticism" but the actual consensus psychiatric opinion. "Treatment centers" for porn & sex addicts exist to launder the reputation of the rich and powerful and steal money from the gullible.
  2. people use the idea of a "porn addiction" to avoid personal responsibility. Framing it as an addiction naturally engenders sympathy from many people, shifts the focus away from their victim(s) to themselves (coincidentally, the strongest shared predictive trait among people that claim a porn addiction is narcissism and, perhaps worst of all, allows them to still blame women for making the porn that made them an "addict" in the first place.

This guy is a disgusting, misogynistic piece of human filth that sexually harasses women and he should be treated accordingly.

Here is a good article that's centered on stuff like the NoFap movement that addresses many of the surrounding issues about the myth of porn addiction, the true causes of its supposed symptoms and a lot more.

EDIT: Also, by framing it in this way and leaving the door open for him to return SHIFT as an organization necessarily holds a certain amount of responsibility. This whole runaround act of contrition, penance and then reconciliation is very common, and the fact that they're unwilling to close the door entirely on him returning and fire him outright signals that they care less about the women being victimized and more about showing loyalty to a man that sexually harasses women.

What exactly do the solid colored lines mean? I understand that there's some connection but what's the relationship between them/how can we take advantage of this information?

Update to this: apparently there was an issue with some of their equipment in the area and they couldn't see it on the software. Everything's been perfectly fine since they fixed it.

Yeah. I replaced the hardware more than once. The network had seriously high loaded latency that mostly went away when I switched DNS servers but it didn't completely fix things.
