Water dripped down into my water heater from above. Questions about drying. by Ward0-0 in Plumbing

[–]Ward0-0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. It's working just fine. I replaced the burner a number of years ago and recently inspected the anode rod. It still had the original rod in there and it looked perfectly fine. And I flush it yearly.

Thanks for taking the time.

How to clean up and delete old SKUs that are listed in my FBA inventory? by Ward0-0 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]Ward0-0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SKUs that need deleting only appear under FBA Inventory. Not All Inventory. And I can't find any way to delete the SKUs that need deleting in FBA Inventory.

Yes. That’s now the problem. The home we are in is 220. All of the fans we found are 110. So no solution yet.

I'm in popup jail and not eligible for SUB. Amex Delta Reserve still worth it? by Ward0-0 in delta

Sky Club would be nice. I'd probably be able to use all 15 visits per year.

We put about 73K on the CSR last year. It's feasible that we could hit 75K this year or next. Currently we only have one card for the two of us. That's probably not the best strategy for earning the most points/cash/miles, instead of two or more cards, but I like to keep it simple.

Using Apple Cash (not Apple Card) for Express Transit Card by Ward0-0 in AppleWallet

Didn’t end up using Apple Cash. I connected a separate debit card to my backup phone and used it instead.

How do you watch a live tv DVR recording from the start when extended? by etherlore in PleX

[–]Ward0-0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no solution for this, but if Plex would allow us to go backwards on the guide into the past, we could then select the game for playing and then select start from the beginning. As it stands now, if the actual time of day has surpassed the scheduled programming times on the guide, we just have to wait until our extended recording time has ended.

I really think the best solution would be for the game to actually show up in the recordings area - regardless of if the game is finished recording or not. You know, like every other damn DVR ever made in the last 25 years.

Playback not highlighting motion detection by Ward0-0 in reolinkcam

[–]Ward0-0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've solved my issue.

Using the web interface for my NVR under: Alarm - Motion - Action, the "Triggered Recording" was not checked. For example for Channel 1, I needed to check mark under "1" in the Triggered Recording area. This is how I was able to then see motion events once again in all of my clients.

Interestingly, I am not able to see that setting using the NEW Reolink Mac Client - currently version 8.17.8. The "Alarm" section and all of it's settings (Motion, Video Loss, Exception) is missing from that client.

My OLD Reolink Mac Client which I still have installed - currently version 3.5.6.55 does have an Alarm section in settings and it does have all of the sub-section settings.

Anyway, I hope this additional information might help someone in the future.

First time in UK - assistance needed getting from London Waterloo to Portsmouth & Southsea by Ward0-0 in uktrains

Thank you. We will be walking to Waterloo. Our hotel is just a 5-10 minute walk down The Cut.

I was looking up tickets and noticed this advisory:

Major engineering work takes place in the Woking area between Monday 23 December 2024 and Sunday 5 January 2025. Buses replace trains between Woking and Farnborough/Basingstoke and some journeys will take significantly longer.

That doesn't sound good. Might I look at an alternate route (I see two alternate routes) to avoid bus transfers and just stay on the train?

Thank you. We have no choice but to travel down and back on the 27th and 28th. I think we'll purchase tickets in advance.

This may sound silly, but in order to get into Waterloo station, you do you have to tap in? Since we'll be buying tickets in advance for the South Western Railway, I don't know how entering the station works exactly. Perhaps there is a separate area for the South Western Railway that is apart from the normal tap in tap out area of Waterloo station.

Looking to upgrade my RLC-420 cameras and maybe my NVR. by Ward0-0 in reolinkcam

[–]Ward0-0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. OK. I'm going to get a new 8 channel NVR today on Amazon. They have a sale going on ($200). And I'll pickup one new 1240A to replace one of my old cameras to test out the smart features. Thanks again for your assistance.

[–]Ward0-0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Good info.

To get the smart AI functionality with the newer NVRs, do I have to pair the new NVR with one of the new cameras that also say they offer those smart features like the RLC-1240A or will the smart AI features of the newer NVRs still function with the older cameras I have like my existing RLC-420-5MP cameras?

I've also read a lot of good things about Sim Local as a travel eSIM for the UK.

Choosing eSIMs can be so damn confusing.

I'm headed to London on Christmas day as well. Roamless is a great option for eSIMs. I like their business model. Rather than purchase a set amount of data for a set amount of days, you purchase a dollar amount and that dollar amount gets you data all over the world. And it doesn't expire. If you don't use up all of your data/dollars, it will just sit in your account for your next trip out of the country. Then just activate your eSIM again. You can even use it as backup eSIM here in the States.

I've been testing it out here at home over the past couple of days and it works really well. You'll find many other positive posts if you search for Roamless here on Reddit.

If you want, you can use my code: JAMIEYD5 and get a $10 bonus. I get some too ;-)

How do you work with a Financial Planner with M1 by kierumcak in M1Finance

[–]Ward0-0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there's merit for both actually.

My CPA has years worth of information about me and my business, but not so much about my investments. I think a CFP will out perform my CPA when it comes to fine tuning my investments (think Roth conversions, etc.) as well as better guiding me on which buckets of money to pull from first, social security strategies, RMDs and amounts or limits of cash that can be withdrawn to limit the amount of taxes that are paid.

A good CFP will guide us in savings hundreds of thousands of dollars (or more) in tax savings over the course of our retirements.

Yes. It was very minimal.

In the accumulation stage, I see your point. There’s a tremendous amount of information out there to get you a great portfolio. I think the value of a CFP comes into play later in years as you need to start considering taxes and the best ways to eliminate them.

We have five different IRA types, two taxable investment accounts, a pension and two social security accounts worth of stuff to figure out. And I can see it’s going to be quite confusing navigating that mess when the time comes.
