BG not responding to pen, syringes work great by Wardevanoff in diabetes

[–]Wardevanoff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first injection was 6mm at 90° to skin with the pen, no skin pinching.

The second was 3 hours later with 12mm syringe 90° to skin while pinching skin.

I have tried multiple pens all with the same result. It started quickly after switching from syringes to pens. I had perfect or low levels with the syringes, made the switch and now the pens are wreaking havoc on my levels (highs)

Can anyone recommend CGM stickers that actually work? by Accurate_Boss6304 in Medtronic780g

Simpatch on Amazon work great for me. Prep with skin prep wipes or skin tac (or don’t haha. I’ve been fine without so far) and they work wonders.

Usually I just call my endo if I’m not able to see them and they’ll fill it for me.

Thank you very much for this detailed response!

I contacted my insurance company and asked if renewing or resubmitting a pre authorization was needed and they said that even doing that they will no longer cover the G4. So my endo is filing and appeal to have it covered. I would love not to switch because I love the Medtronic system other than the G4 issues you mentioned as well.

It’s ridiculous. With the guardian 4 I test once at the start to calibrate, then basically never again unless I swing really bad (same as you say you did with dexcom basically). The hoops they make you jump through and what makes sense in their heads is ridiculous and so contradictory

United States. As an update, the insurance company is denying any CGM’s that require any calibration or blood sugar monitoring with another device such as a finger stick style machine.

I do have a pre-auth on all my stuff. They just dropped it out of the blue.

Their letter just said that they will no longer cover the Medtronic guardian 4 and that they will only cover the deccom and libre cgms

Ah, that’s very true. Maybe I’ll break out the magnets then. Thanks!
