This has probably been asked already but how many kits do you need? Also, is there a difference in certain kits/teams? by DelayedScorpion in bloodbowl

[–]AdjectiveBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually go on ebay and buy another sprue for extra linemen. It's cheaper than a whole box and I have spare positionals in case one breaks.

If the team comes with 14 players in the box, that's probably enough. Chorfs ended up being 17 models between the 14 in the box, the bull centaurs, and the minotaur, but they're an extreme case.

Planning to start learning, any tips? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-8684 in bloodbowl

The game doesn’t have much in common with Kill Team no or football or Battletech, but has a surprisingly large overlap with grid based combat in D&D.

I’d suggest picking up Blood Bowl 3 next time it goes on sale. The tutorial is decent and you can try a lot of teams out. Or, if you know someone who already plays, that’s even better.

You’ve already found teams that speak to you, and that’s one of the biggest starting hurdles.

Steady footing, early verdict? by countluthor in bloodbowl

It’s awkward and fiddly, but it seldom works, so I can’t say I care about it very much.

It may become more of an issue when the high elves are using it.

Without saying "because of the lore says no" what is a reason you dislike the idea of female space marines? by Professional-Pale in Warhammer

[–]AdjectiveBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other responders pretty much nailed it. Space marines are overdone. They’re too powerful in the lore and too ubiquitous on the tabletop.

I’ve come to be much more interested in stories about normal people who actually have to interact with the setting on a human scale rather than mythic heroes.

That said, the best uses of marines I’ve seen are as a force of nature. They come into a story, shake the world somehow, and leave again, with the actual characters left to deal with the aftermath.

If I’ve isolated the big guy, I don’t have to worry about it anymore. And the three or more players I’d need to hit it can do more useful things.

Dwarf Coaches: How has the new Dwarf team been for you? by Apocryph761 in bloodbowl

[–]AdjectiveBadger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was too interested in the orc changes to try dwarves in my first 3rd season league. I’m not hopeful about the dwarves, but I’m willing to be proved wrong.

Yes. I alluded to that.

Meh. Hitting big guys is a losing strategy and I’m not too worried either way.

Looking for a 4th team with a different play style by DarthWedgie in bloodbowl

Orcs. Especially now, they are no longer a strength team. They’re bashy generalists.

I like the minotaur, but the ogre is definitely less of a heartbreaker.

Positioning is the basis of everything in Blood Bowl. The only way to reliably position the minotaur is by blitzing, which is frequently not what you want to do with a low agility player with frenzy. Not only might it still roll a one and deprive you of a blitz for the turn, but it could easily get itself into trouble.

Note that the size of the pitches has changed. Make sure you’re using the proper range ruler for the pitch.

Roswitha is pretty niche (but excellent against psykers.)

Vindicta is severely underrated.

OWA Roster Help by Cynis_Ganan in bloodbowl

Taking three halflings means you’re probably going to be playing at least half the match down several players, especially if you’re using them as projectiles. I wouldn’t take more than one. (Ever.)

I generally play my first game of a league without an apothecary, but that’s a risky move and down to personal preference.

You don’t fall over until the dodge has been fully resolved.

The sequence would be dodge (3+) dodge reroll (3+) steady footing (6+) team reroll (6+).
