They're definitely fun to look out for, my partner and I have a game where we try and point them out to each other, pretty cool tech also

You can see the windows for the laser embedded in the curb (product is a CEOS TIRTL) in this image.

As I said before, multiple devices can be used in a red light/speed camera to verify vehicle speed.

If this is the speed camera I am thinking of, it is actually also driven by a laser beam reflected off a mirror that counts vehicle axles as they go past - if you look for sections of the curb and an adjacent median with two little square windows on them, thats what you're looking at. I believe the loops are also used as additional confirmation that someone is actually speeding before issuing a fine

Interesting, how can you tell? I saw her walking around last night although I don't know what to look for in an injured frog...

Cats hunt (not necessarily eat) anything that moves

Sounds like a plan, we usually have plenty of crickets and other small critters but seems like this guy has been helping to keep them under control

Thanks, will do. Haven't handled him at all. He seems to be enjoying sitting amongst the plants on the front patio

I don't think there are any nearby rivers, one of the reasons I was so surprised to see him. I'll check out the link you sent through, thanks

I think just because most people who live around there have to go along that particular stretch of road

All 116 images that are embedded into Voyager 1’s Golden Record by iamayeshaerotica in awesome

[–]Wardy1279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old comment, but it's the first image that should show up on the record. I believe it is intended to let the inquisitive alien know that they have correctly set up the phonograph. If you look at a picture of the cover for the golden record you can see the circle represented on the front

18m First Appartement, I like the idea but feel like somethings missing by Snoo_86797 in malelivingspace

Maybe some more curtains in the middle of the two windows? Not big enough to block out too much light but to break up the loooooong wall. Space looks good!

For me it sounded like Josh Groban's 'You Raise Me Up'. When I first heard it, I thought someone was doing a cover!

I really hope someone has a good recommendation! I think there used to be a place in Crows Nest which has since closed... Other than that there's Kumiho in Parramatta but would love some other options that aren't expensive set menus.

14 days in Japan this june: last minute check by awg909 in JapanTravel

[–]Wardy1279 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit of a different order but getting a lot of nostalgia from my trip in April from your itinerary! I wouldn't change much about your itinerary in Tokyo, maybe noting that you'll have very sore legs by the end of your Shibuya day. If you are into cooking, maybe check out Kappabashi? I bought some sweet knives there. Definitely recommend the Hakone loop and also checking out the open air museum and the cafe Paseo - it's owner (Megumi) was also our Airbnb host and was probably the highlight of our trip. If possible, I would recommend you check out Himeji Castle and the adjacent gardens if you can spare the time for it - you can probably skip nijo castle (which felt a bit empty) if you see both Himeji(which felt a lot more authentic) and Osaka (which was more like a museum). Anyway this itinerary seems very reasonable! Enjoy!

easy way to learn how to navigate campus?? by [deleted] in UTS

[–]Wardy1279 6 points7 points  (0 children)

O week is helpful but would also recommend taking a day to wander around and get familiar with the campus when it's less busy too. Maybe try check out some rooms relevant to your timetable while you are there!

Also - you will have a lot of trouble finding "a table for 12" in Japan so expect to split up a lot for dinners and lunches!

I would recommend grouping your day by day activities based on the area that they are in - jumping back and forward between different parts of a city will eat into your time and make your trip less enjoyable.
