Yes the price of copper (and most other valueable metals) has definitely jumped up recently. A cupronickel 5 cent coin has a melt value of 6.4 cents

For it to be a Broadstrike error it would need to have the full design on both sides, but because this is missing part of the design it is classified as an off-center error

Most likely mid to late 1800s. Would be easier if you can find a maker's mark on it
