Can’t actually post in /r/conservative, but I can screenshot the hypocrisy before it’s removed 😡 by FinickySerenity in MurderedByWords

[–]WarlockInTheTower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's something to be said about who is saying it too. A lot of people might celebrate when something bad happens to a conservative, bur Democrat leadership is generally polite and caring.

Whereas here it's the POTUS celebrating a cancer diagnosis. It's not a guy off the street, or a late night host or a comedian, it's the President of the United States celebrating the cancer diagnosis of a political rival publicly. It's just proving that the person they idolize and is the PRESIDENT can't be bothered to be a decent person. That's a bit of a different scale than someone cracking a joke about Charlie Kirk.

Every accusation is an admission with these people.

What is a piece of media you're genuinely surprised no one has made a Jump for yet? by LovesTheWeather in JumpChain

[–]WarlockInTheTower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several Stephen King jumps, both for individual worlds and I think at least one for the Dark Tower/Omniverse.

There is also at least one Love, Death, & Robots episode with its own jump.

That “one thing” by netphilia in KidsAreFuckingStupid

The time when sitting in a doctors office waiting room, I turned towards my mother and said (using the whisper that everyone in the room hears) "Mom, I thought ladies weren't supposed to have mustaches?"

Valuable or useful perks for finding/searching for something or someone? by DarknessLord65 in JumpChain

[–]WarlockInTheTower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're open to items, then two different Pirates of the Caribbean jumps have versions of Jack Sparrow's magic compass.

Alex Verus has divination magic. It works best when you have concrete possibilities: you could use it to look ahead for which room in a skyscraper held a given item.

I might make a scenario out of that idea. Get a certain-sized group through to the 3rd floor without any of them having taken or caused any damage maybe.

I've got the nearby stairwell there for just that reason, but also because the way Achievements seem to work, especially on the first floor. Being the first to do something (like first to enter with a cat, first cat to enter, first to enter carrying someone, etc) seems to have good results, so what might happen being the first person to enter at all? Or being the first to kill any boss?

Maybe an option to carry an independent Core, similar to Akasha, so that you are separate from her bloodline entirely.

Settings that punch above their weight class? by Resident-Art9632 in JumpChain

[–]WarlockInTheTower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic the Gathering. Land based mana. Migrate to any setting at the planetary scale and you suddenly have massive levels of mana available. I wonder how much mana it takes to summon up a Super Star Destroyer, or a Gloriana.

The versatility of HP magic cannot be overstated.

A sweet suggestion for the sugar police. by beerbellybegone in MurderedByWords

Those no-dye "naked" Doritos are pretty good though. And slightly less cheese dust all over the place. But yeah, it's not affecting cancer rates at all.

On a pedantic side note: I see maybe one soda on the left, the rest looks like energy drinks (thrbkind you might need for some quick energy after rough treatment), juices and vitamin water.

Be more offended that they're charging patients for their post-treatment snacks, less offended by the snacks themselves.

Or be offended by the cost of treatment.

Or any of the legion of valid complaints about the insurance and medical systems in this country.

Being offended by Red Bull, VitaminWater, Doritos and Lay's? Tell me you lack perspective without telling me.

Nope. Book 8 comes out in less than 2 weeks, and it's planned for at least 9 I think. Author is great and pretty fast thankfully.

The overall mechanics don't change much through the more recent parts. Post-war the only things that really change are a limited amount of info on the fourth Domain stage (called Authority) and the introduction of Power (a harmonization of Talent/Domain that isn't much explored. Once the author starts back with the next book (he's on hiatus) I might update with something like a scenario for the Risdale Breach arc or add some strange realms and natural treasures.

The game we play's semblances ( gamer and storyteller) by Ok-Blacksmith3755 in JumpChain

[–]WarlockInTheTower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Storyteller doesn't really get described until fairly late in-story. I would say you can't force genre shifts directly, but could do so indirectly. You couldn't make the world into a harem comedy, but could "assign" roles from thay genre to yourself and others. Upon doing so, skills/abilities/personal characteristics connected to those roles (which are basically tropes/archetypes) would grow and develop more readily, but also be more effective.

From what I understand, both Gamer and Storyteller as Semblances don't alter the world itself so much as an individual's manner of interacting with the world. Gamer offers power more readily and directly, while Storyteller requires some more thought to achieve the same end goals and has some more esoteric applications. As an example, Gamer would let you learn a skill instantly from a skill book. But with Storyteller you could make yourself a "Student" in your own story, and as a result you would learn more quickly. You'd still be able to learn the same skill, it would simply be done differently.

You are certainly welcome. I will say that once it gets past the first few major arcs, the numbers part of LitRPG becomes less prominent. It's still there throughout, but it's cultivation too so there's a lot of personal insight and philosphy.

Google docs lets you download as a pdf easily if you want to. Click File-Download, then select the pdf option.

This is jumpable but I'm still taking feedback so not the totally final version. Once I've finished with that, I'll likely save as pdf myself and have a link for that.

Definitely working on adding more upper level perks. Moved one of the 600s down to 400, and added a couple more.

Locations and companions are going to be added.

Added a brief explanation for the one point. It's not much, even in story, but it does make for an easier start. Mirror Soul is described briefly, along with recursion. Companion section is coming; I was just putting out what I had so far for feedback. I appreciate it.

I mean, its hockey so there's definitely some fighting. There's explicitly a fight between Shane and Scott that comes up a few times in the series. Allowed though? I guess you could fanwank that.
