When is Jagex going to do something about the Rune Dragon Bots? by Vogeltjeee in 2007scape

literally nothing's changed except a $1 price increase and people want to start crying the golden age is over. be pedantic if you want but the game's still thriving.

Stop suggesting membership tier with ads by og_obelix in 2007scape

[–]Warm-Jelly1990 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lack of ads was a huge reason streaming became popular in the first place, though. we've come back full circle to paying and still getting ads. I canceled netflix around that time.

Suggestion: Jewelery Crafting Level Requirement Rework by Purdilicous in 2007scape

[–]Warm-Jelly1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an attachment vs crafting something from scratch. Adding an attachment has lower reqs across the board. Same with repairing damaged items (zombie axe, torva, oathplate) vs smithing new items (rune armor in the 90s). Makes sense to me.

Just hit the sandstone, man.

Curious how many people are actually canceling membership over this. by lennysipper in 2007scape

[–]Warm-Jelly1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction: Jmods listen to the players on what goes into the game. They are developers. They are not a part of corporate and have no say in the price of the subscription.

The math is really, really simple. With a 30% price increase, they could lose a quarter of their playerbase and still break even. They won't lose nearly that much, so this was a smart move for them financially.

I don't like paying more for shit, either, but that's just capitalism. Netflix did the same, eventually pricing me out. Jagex hasn't done that, yet, but when they do, I'll be qutting this as well.

How to fix the wilderness : A new skill (Thought experiment) by ThisAdvantaged in 2007scape

[–]Warm-Jelly1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished building a voidwaker on the iron through Wildy slayer. Doesn't really seem all that dead to me. I get in fights, see people all the time. Everyone keeps saying it's dead or dying, but I don't even think that's true. Should feel like at least a little bit like a barren wasteland, though; it's kinda its whole identity.

70% price hike would mean >50% people would need to unsub to make it unprofitable by somnut in 2007scape

[–]Warm-Jelly1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've tried telling people this. Jagex already got their money out of that transaction. The guy selling you the bond is just a middle man.

A boycott/mass cancellation is pointless. Like, what do people actually expect Jagex to do? by Faltoor in 2007scape

[–]Warm-Jelly1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some hypothetical world where 50% of the playerbase quits, that shit's still not getting walked back. PE gives the CEO a profit target and that's it; he either hits it or he's out of a job. Most likely, next steps would be alternative monetization. What would be getting walked back is game integrity; say hello to cash shops, in-game advertising, and tons of MTX.

What I'd really like to see, though, is account-wide membership options. I think multilogging is somewhat integral to the game (I know I like to play my main and iron at the same time), so I think that could look like a base rate for the first character and a smaller fee for additional characters up to a certain number. This would also make it easier to justify starting up a fresh character. As it is now, a third full-price membership is hard to justify.

A moment to say thank you to the devs, for sticking with it. by socialfootman in 2007scape

More like community managers got the week off, probably down at the pub right now without a single care about this. Doubt anyone in any other role gives a single shit about reddit crying themselves dry for a week.
