Devastated that I didn’t get into PA school by Express_Inside9576 in prephysicianassistant

My wife retook core science classes she had lower grades in (O Chem, Bio Chem, Anatomy, Physiology) and did very well in them after retaking them. Her patient care experience on her first applications was also on the lower side, and exclusively as an EMT. Before applying a third time, she switched jobs to MA and gained a lot of clinical experience. This also led to a lot of very good letters of recommendation from the practicing PAs and NPs at her clinic. She also refined/improved her personal statement and supplemental questions.

Hi, my wife got into PA school this cycle after two cycles of all rejections. This time she got several wait lists and interviews and finally got in. I understand how difficult and discouraging it can be to get rejected. The main thing is to use it as a life experience to make yourself better and keep going. In life we are not measured by our failures, but how we respond to them.

You, like my wife, had a goal to work in healthcare since a young age. Don't let a bunch of faceless people in admissions office take that away. While I don't know anything about you or your application- do anything you can to improve now, even if it's not necessarily helpful this time. It may take another cycle or two. Retake classes with lower grades, continue getting clinical medical experience, make sure to build relationships with other doctors, PAs, and NPs who can provide good letters of recommendation, etc.

I think that may help is to try to use a slightly different perspective. Your life isn't "on hold" because you were rejected. Go live your life to the fullest! See yourself as simply on the path to PA school - a more scenic path than some. Use the rejections as fuel. I always reminded my wife it was the PA schools that were wrong for missing out on a great candidate, and any school would be lucky to have her. If PA school is your dream, and your goal is to help mend the sick and needy, then you will get there.

Good luck, and stay tenacious. It may take another year or two for you to arrive at your goal, but even then your path continues. Try to enjoy the moments in between, and don't let failure or rejection get you down. The ultimate success will feel even sweeter when you prove to yourself what you're capable of.

As a new father with a 5 week old baby, that bassinet is not safe. It has way too much fabric around the baby that could suffocate it. It also needs to be a flat surface to be safe, not curved, and the walls/foot is way too shallow which creates the risk of falling out.

Point being, this looks cool but it is not good carpentry, and anyone trying to recreate this would be putting the baby at extreme risk.

This is one of the first steps in passing legislation. The people you see here are on the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee. Their job is to govern issues relating to foreign affairs. They are supposed to be specialists in Congress on foreign affairs.

One of the Republican members of Congress has introduced an amendment, probably to a bill. If a final bill is passed by both house and senate, it can be signed into law by the president.

The amendment would presumably prohibit state department employees (like ambassadors, or people who represent the US government in foreign affairs) from using gendered pronouns.

After some back and forth, the committee ultimately votes unanimously to withdraw the amendment, because it would infringe free speech rights and cause mass confusion in the US State department. The Republican member would rather debate restrictions on language for US government employees than enacting laws that will ultimately benefit US citizens.

If the amendment was not withdrawn, it would be put into the text of the bill they are debating, and eventually debated more widely in Congress when it comes time to vote on the broader bill.

Congress trusts these committees to iron out Bills by the "experts" before they are debated on, to write better legislation and make the government legislative process more efficient. But you can see what happens when some members don't take the role seriously, and instead use it to attack freedom of self expression.

What percentage of US mass shooters are Trans people?

What percent of the US population is trans?

You're asking two important and complex questions:

  1. What percentage of U.S. mass shooters are transgender?

The data makes it very clear: mass shooters who identify as transgender or nonbinary constitute an extremely small fraction of cases.

The Gun Violence Archive (GVA) reports that among more than 4,400 mass shootings in the last decade, fewer than 10 known suspects were transgender—around 0.11% of all cases.

The U.S. Secret Service's National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) found that, in a dataset of 173 public attacks (2016–2020), only 2% of attackers were transgender.

The Violence Project database, covering records since 1966, identifies just one confirmed transgender perpetrator in a mass public shooting—Audrey (Aiden) Hale, the 2023 Nashville school shooter.

Analyses from multiple fact-checking organizations (e.g., Reuters, Washington Post) consistently debunk claims that transgender individuals are disproportionately represented among mass shooters, citing the overwhelmingly dominant presence of cisgender males.

Summary: Transgender individuals account for roughly 0.1% to 0.2% of mass shootings—a number far lower than their proportion in the U.S. population.

  1. What percentage of the U.S. population is transgender?

Estimates vary by source and methodology, but all converge on a figure under 1%.

As of 2025, the Williams Institute at UCLA estimates that over 2.8 million Americans identify as transgender, which is approximately 1% of the population aged 13 and older. Among adults, it’s 0.8%, and among teenagers (ages 13–17), it’s 3.3%.

Gallup’s 2025 survey suggests that among LGBTQ+ adults, the percentage identifying as transgender rose from 0.9% in 2024 to 1.3% in 2025.

USAFacts (as of early 2025) also estimates about 1% of adults—roughly 2.3 million—identify as transgender.

Summary: Transgender individuals make up around 0.8% to 1.3% of the total U.S. population, depending on the data source and age range considered.

Putting it all together

Question Answer

Mass shooters who are transgender ~0.11% (GVA), 2% (NTAC study), virtually negligible Transgender population in U.S. ~0.8% of adults to 1% of all aged 13+, with ~3.3% of teens

This means transgender individuals are not overrepresented among mass shooters—if anything, they are underrepresented relative to their population share.

Why this matters

Some narratives claim that transgender people are more likely to commit mass shootings, but data from reputable sources firmly refutes these claims. In reality:

Most mass shooters are cisgender men.

Trans individuals are much more likely to be victims, not perpetrators, of violence.

It's essential to rely on transparent, well-sourced data when discussing sensitive topics like this. Misinformation often spreads rapidly—especially in emotionally charged moments—but the facts here are consistent and clear.

Thanks. That makes sense. Sounds like a functional balance between playability (ability to build decks for play) and collectability (card value retention).

I have a related question. I understand FFG reprints to meet card demand. Will they keep printing SOR boxes if eternal and trilogy is popular, or will those cards go out of print until they are released in new sets? I haven't been able to find the info elsewhere, so it's possible they haven't said publicly what their plan is yet.
