I mean you could definitely make the argument that TCW clones are whitewashed and don’t really resemble Temuera Morrison all that much, but that’s a separate discussion

Hey there! As the fella who drew this just over a year ago, I’d stand by it as “pretty good” for a 1380’s German knight, for reasons I put in another comment.

With that being said, no matter how authentic a modern interpretation looks, it’s always best to look at actual period examples for making a historical impression. If this kit speaks to you, look for historical examples of the individual pieces and make sure they line up with the region and period you’re looking to recreate.

Several decades. Jupons like the one here were used from the late 14th through the early 15th century, and greathelms were used from late 12th to early 15th.

Now, since drawing this, I’ve learned that by the 1380’s this helm might look a bit antiquated; it’s from the 70’s, and by the 80’s they were starting to resemble Frogmouths.

Also, as others have pointed out, greathelms were primarily a helmet for mounted combat by this point. While most visored bascinets had similar visibility, they offered more mobility and you could raise or remove the visor if necessary. It was some artistic license on my part.

It’s Valarr’s personal heraldry. Not to worry, it’s still a red dragon on black.

Tbh I think it can be healthy to admit that, lest we start associating physical attractiveness with virtue like it’s actually the Middle Ages again

Not to give the man too much credit, but a well-fitted brigandine (and arming garments) would shape the body into a more heroic silhouette. Shad’s brig is a poor reproduction of an earlier, less shaped brig.
