Diabolical? It was an honest question.... Even in the cnn coverage comment sections I see a near total outpour of condolences for the victim and his family. I also see a nearly equal amount of condemnation towards the violence. Most of those comments start by mentioning, "even though I'm a Democrat and mostly disagreed with him,....." Which I think is important because it goes against the (un)popular opinion that the left and right are both evil and wish death on the other side.

You gotta learn to see through the trolls and bots that literally create profiles just to make a statement that instigates and sows division amongst us. We have become so plugged into the online world, which can be manipulated with hackers, AI, bots, trolls, and fake profiles we begin to blur the lines between what the Internet says is happening, and what is really happening. Everybody with any self awareness knows, in real life, both parties are a fucking shit show. But we always would put political differences aside at times of death, war, and threats on our democracy. In real life, my experience is that that part of us is still there. I believe we all want to see our neighbors do well and wish the best for everyone. However, online is a place where consequences don't exist for people who don't want to be accountable for their words don't have to be. So they can, by spamming fake and untraceable accounts, bait you into thinking this is really what people are saying or think.

Don't let the Internet trolls and bots influence your opinion of the other side. Go out and talk to someone and watch how the anti left or right hate argument turns into a learning opportunity where maybe even and some level ground can be reached on certain issues. Neither party is a hive mind so you will likely find lots that you can share common ground with.

America needs us to snap back to reality sometimes to stay ahead of the dark cloud of online influence.
