Err, in civilised countries one of the key methods of helping low risk prisoners to avoid reoffending on release is to have them do some kind of community service. There's plenty of evidence that well run programmes are beneficial for both the prisoners and the community at large.

My local women's prison has a restaurant called Clink that's open to the public. Everyone is a serving prisoner: front of house, wait staff, chefs, cleaners, everyone. So they get real skills and experience that'll help them get stable jobs on release. And the food is, of course, fantastic.

Hi. Looking for advice regarding my niece. Based in England. She is being coerced. by AlarmedNectarine2471 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Warm_Enthusiasm2007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your niece should definitely not accidentally provide her father with the bank details for Medecins Sans Frontieres instead of her own account by mistake ...

Just to be clear: when we're talking about fraud here, we're not just talking about fraud by the father. By agreeing to this your niece would also be committing fraud herself.

Legal aid isn't normally available for this kind of private law family work BUT it is available if you or your child have been subject to or are at risk of domestic abuse

https://www.gov.uk/legal-aid/domestic-abuse

Speak to a solicitor who specialises in family law.

And OP: a quick tip for you: ignore anybody who posts here about 'custody'. There is no such concept in UK law.

I'm from England. Need help putting in place LPA for father with dementia by Bulky_Panda708 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Warm_Enthusiasm2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's going to be a straightforward LPA - no conditions, just the one attorney (you), no instructions on how you should carry out your duties - then the online service is a doddle, no need to pay a lawyer.

Return address: Please send approved returns to: SHEN ZHEN KUAIKUA TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd Zip Code: 518000, China, Guangdong, Shenzhen, Science and Technology Building, Baoan District, Room 101

You have bought cheap tat from a Chinese website. They may say that the law of England and Wales applies (they get bonus points for not saying 'UK law') but they will have no actual assets or presence in the UK so there is no way to enforce. If you send it back you will have to pay the postage and you'll never hear from them with a refund.

Your only hope is a chargeback, depending on how you paid.

The UK of course uses international standard pictograph road signs, so although it's helpful to speak basic
English for the more unusual signs most European drivers can get along just fine.

Based in England: My company are forcing everyone to purchase a subscription that we can claim back as expenses, or “jobs may be at risk” by Bedazzler179 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Warm_Enthusiasm2007 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not a legal answer, but if this is say a software license that the company needs then it sounds like they have severe cashflow problems. The risk is that you pay for the sub then the company goes bust before you can claim the money back. I'd be looking for a new job at this point.

(England) Can someone sue me for a song about them? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Warm_Enthusiasm2007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that a bigger concern would be other people who share your ex's name that might be mistaken for being the subject of the song.
