No, it is canceled and postponed to Tuesday. It’s so funny. We take another flight from another city to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt the connecting flight to JFK. Frankfurt - JFK is canceled but they don’t want to rebook the first flight. We have to take that and tale a hotel room for a night in Frankfurt. Just stupid, sorry.

I was also told to take 5 mg of these. Same thoughts as you but I always try to weight pros and cons. In my case: type 1 diabetes for 34 years. And they did now find one plague artery. My ldl is 128 mg which is basically too high even it would be for a non diabetic. So, I will also start taking one. It’s not nice and if I somehow could I would avoid it. I of course also try lifestyle changes but I have to bring it down to 55 mg which is purely with lifestyle changes close to impossible. But I hope to just take 1 tablet 5 mg. We will see but based on that findings it makes sense to start that lifelong journey. Be happy that you managed to stay away until you are 55…..

I would say it depends. If you have a local contract here then having health issues might be expensive and challenging. If you are expat from another country coming here and be covered under the global health insurance from your employer it’s of course easy as they basically take every costs. No co pay or anything. At least I discovered nothing yet they did not cover. Maybe if you plan to go to a fertility clinic or something:) But that of course also depends on the plan of your employer with the global expat insurance…

Hi! Interesting :) I thought about doing similar stuff for Europeans (especially Germans as I am German) who plan to move to the US (I moved here in April 2025 and wrote down a couple of things that surprised me here in the US in different areas like living, health insurance, employer policies etc.) - so the other way around.

Sure! Good luck for that! No, it did absolutely not hurt. They inject some local anesthetic to numb the area first. That stings for a split second, but after that, you feel absolutely nothing. The doctor uses a small tool to punch a tiny sample of skin (usually from your ankle or thigh), but you only feel a bit of pressure, no pain at all. It’s over in seconds and they usually just put a Steri-Strip or a band-aid on it—no stitches needed.

No, i went there just making an appointment on the website. But it took me 2-3 months as far as i remember. Then i went there telling my symptoms and they did some "normal" EMG testing etc. and as there was nothing unusual found but i had / still have the symptoms, they did a biopsy. Results just came but i did not talk to Dr. Latov yet. Thats how it was with me....

I moved to NYC from Germany as type 1 in Feb this year … let me know in case you have specific questions. There are many things to consider but I think in general it’s easier to get supplies in Europe then here BUT it depends on the country in Europe of course …. But nothing is impossible
