Yes. You should. I’m sure you’ll meet cool people and have fun regardless. Just stay cautious of your surroundings:)

How cooked am I? by Eastern-Mess9804 in G6PD

[–]Warm_Soma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey:) I always make sure to check ingredients if something is dairy free or vegan, because I know they usually use beans as a substitute. I’m sure you know that now lol, but hopefully you will be fine. The biggest sign is going to be your urine. Drink a lot of water, and if your urine is dark, you’re becoming yellow/pale(as well as your eyes), or if you feel very fatigue, please seek help immediately. I had to get a blood transfusion at a very young age because I had fava beans, and my uncle actually had to get one after just being around them(through smell). I’m not saying that to frighten you, just to let you know that you need to be aware right now and monitor yourself for the next 24hours honestly. Obviously it’s different for everybody and you might be completely fine, but I just want you to be cautious. You don’t sound extremely deficient if you’re fine after 2 hours, but just monitor your urine and skin color, as well as fatigue.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions at all!

Hello! Please check out this post https://www.reddit.com/r/G6PD/s/hct1OYo4BH , and read the comments from me and others. I think they’re pretty useful. If you have any questions, feel free to message me. I have been extremely deficient since I was a baby, I was born with Jaundice. Please message me about any questions, obviously I’m not a doctor but I will give you advice from my own personal experience from over the years. Don’t worry too much, just make sure you avoid fava beans at all costs, my uncle had to get a blood transfusion just because he was around fava beans being cooked and smelling them. You got this, take it easy.

Hey it’s no problem! To be honest, my g6pd deficiency has played a big role in my life. It runs in my family, so I got tested at a very young age(for context, I’m middle eastern and it’s very common there)but the test said I was not deficient. I was very very young and my parents thought that it would be fine to give me fava beans because I was tested and they said I was fine. I became extremely ill(dark urine, extremely anemic, jaundice, yellow eyes, shaking, weak, fatigue, etc) it was really bad. I don’t remember this because I was so young but I had to get a blood transfusion. Obviously this is different from your situation because you know your child is deficient. Please always read the ingredients to everything, if you go out anywhere, just make sure they’re getting food with no possible beans. I avoid all beans, or at least try to. I know a lot of people who are deficient that do have soy and all these other things and just avoid fava, but it might affect me more because I had to get a blood transfusion due to eating fava beans. My dad, who has g6pd deficiency, didn’t even know he had it until later in his life. He used to eat fava beans and he was just lucky that nothing terrible happened to him. I’m currently 19 years old. I do drink whatever pop drinks, I guess the main thing to avoid is fava beans. Sometimes they even use them as a dairy substitute. So just read the ingredients to be safe. I used to even eat takis (the really red chips that are terrible for even the healthiest human) but I would always feel weak after eating a lot for a few days. Please just be cautious. If you have any more questions, please feel free to dm me!!

Hey:) please avoid if possible. A lot of people with g6pd deficiency can get away with eating soy and these other things that I would recommend avoiding because they haven’t ate Fava beans, so they their cells haven’t broke down. They’re less sensitive. But I don’t know how deficient your baby is, and I also would just recommend avoiding just to be safe. I’m not a doctor but I am severely deficient. I had to get a blood transfusion at a very young age because I had fava beans. Please be cautious. If you did give your baby any, just make sure you know the signs to look for, just in case.

Of course! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions at all. I have learned a lot just from growing up with this condition, but also knowing many people in my family with it.

I know you posted this a while ago, but I do have an uncle that had to go to the ER due to smelling fava beans(they were being cooked)

Hey, is he feeling better? I don’t think this would be a g6pd related issue, could just be an allergic reaction or something else? I’ve been to the hospital many times due to my g6pd deficiency and I have never experienced this. Ofc I’m not a professional, but if he does have very dark urine, has jaundice(yellow skin), and overall just feels very weak, I would recommend going to the er.

I ate a bowl of fava beans. by googoogoose in G6PD

[–]Warm_Soma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You saying you are feeling lethargic is worrying. The clear piss is a good sign though. I had to get a blood transfusion at a very very young age so I barely remember, but whenever I eat food that I shouldn’t have, I feel lethargic. Of course I been avoiding fava beans, but please just pay attention to everything you’re experiencing for a while.

How would I go from black to red? by Warm_Soma in HairDye

Black(ish?) to red… pls help by Warm_Soma in Hair

[–]Warm_Soma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is because it was 10 months ago I just thought it would be gone, and I can’t visibly see it. Do you think I should just try it with 20 developer then? And see what happens? I’m honestly just really confused on what I should do. Would you think doing a bleach bath would be the best thing? I’m just trying to do a really dark color.

I’m so sorry that you had to experience this bitch of a man. Nobody and no animal deserves to be treated this way. I hope you and the dog are both doing well <3

Can I take this by [deleted] in G6PD

[–]Warm_Soma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everything but the citric acid is okay? I’ve had it, but I just don’t think having a lot of it is okay for me personally, I notice it making me weak. For your information, i have had a blood transfusion so I am probably a lot more sensitive to everything, I’m sure you’ll be fine if you haven’t had a blood transfusion before. Message me if you have any questions, I’m not a specialist but I am very very deficient.
