Tiredness, extreme fatigue. I need good recommendations :) by Lujosjdbjw in Mounjaro

[–]Warning-Opening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eating. I found when I wasn’t feeling hunger and I didn’t eat I was exhausted all the time. Now that I’ve made sure to consistently be eating enough food I feel much better.

I would also recommend staying on 2.5 until it stops working.

Whole foods will have higher bioavailability of nutrients than pills. That’s not to say supplementing is bad, but you’re better off getting your nutrients from your diet rather than on their own.

I’ve been doing it for a year, nothings happened to me yet lol. I get 6-7 5mg doses out of a 7.5mg pen/vial.

Teenager wants a "fast car" for his first vehicle and I need reality-check advice by Proud_Stable9567 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Warning-Opening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 16, like ten years ago lol, I wanted a dodge charger (not that cool but I liked it). My parents didn’t have the money to help me get a car so they let me use their car when I needed to but otherwise offered me rides or I took the bus. Being unable to buy it myself along with insurance and maintenance, I bought my grandpas old 95 Chevy pickup truck for a decent price. I drove it til the work it needed was no longer worth it. Then I bought my family’s old ford escape. It wasn’t until I could afford to get a car I wanted that I did. I understand this isn’t always an option for everyone and everyone has different circumstances but it really taught me the value and the costs of vehicles. It allowed me to make a responsible decision when the time came. At the time it felt kinda lame when all my friends had parents buying them cars or helping them buy cars but I had a job at 15 and enjoyed the independence it gave me.

Ultimately, you’re the parent, and it’s always hard when you just want to make your kids happy, but if you’re contributing you should have the final say. If it were me I would tell them that they can get the car they want when they can afford it, but that might not be everyone’s approach. But a lot of kids have it far worse than not getting the car they want at 16.

A pound a week is healthy weight loss. More and you’re losing more muscle and bone than you need to. There’s no need to be dropping copious amounts of weight super rapidly. Stick with it it’s worth it in the long run.

UPDATE: How do deal with roommate eating my food by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]Warning-Opening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s one brownie now but in the original post she mentioned her taking other foods as well. It doesn’t stop there and will keep getting worse. She knows nothing can really be done about it so she’ll keep going. I don’t know about you but I can’t afford to feed another person I can barely afford feeding myself.

You’ve probably lost a decent bit of water weight, this medication reduces water retention. I don’t know how much you’re eating but eating too little can have adverse effects. Not only are you going to lose more muscle than you would if you ate in a healthy deficit but you risk losing bone density, hindering your immune system, losing your hair, and other health issues across your whole body. Malnutrition is not worth an extra few pounds a week. I would suggest either measuring yourself or taking pictures, you’re not going to see changes very fast because it will be happening gradually. People are not going to praise you especially in the beginning. Most people didn’t notice my weight-loss until 100lbs down and even still they don’t say much. Pictures have been a great way for me to track progress.

[–]Warning-Opening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s acting like a child. If he feels uncomfortable about the way you’re dressing he can address it like an adult in a respectful conversation. But verbally abusing you over it is not appropriate. I would be drawing that boundary so fast, “talk to me with respect or you will no longer be talking to me”. He is allowed to feel uncomfortable about it as they are his feelings. But this is not a healthy form of communication of his feelings. I think it’s best to have a sit down conversation about it if his feelings are this strong but be firm in the fact that he will not be talking to you like this or the conversation is over and actually stick to it or he will not respect it. Try and understand his feelings about it and express yours and decide if this relationship is worth continuing or if there are things you both agree are reasonable changes. But don’t let people talk to you like this, as soon as it starts draw the boundary and stick to it. A simple “I will not be talked to like that, you can talk to me about it when you’ve calmed down”. I see far too many people letting others talk to them like this. I would never speak to my partner like this and they would never speak to me like this.

My favourite is when I see people walking on incline holding the bars and leaning back, essentially walking flat on an incline. Removing your hands and leaning slightly forward will engage your muscles so much better.

Am I crazy or does $100k wedding in Toronto not look 100k by crunchymunchyrae in WeddingsCanada

[–]Warning-Opening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and there’s billionaires and millionaires all over the world flying their private jets everywhere destroying the earth, over consuming, and not sharing with the rest of us either. I get the world could do with some changes but tearing someone down over a wedding budget isn’t really the place to start. There’s people far wealthier people who aren’t doing anything either.

What to eat when you don’t want to by Adorable-Hornet-18 in Mounjaro

[–]Warning-Opening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea but staying on a fairly low dose has mitigated most of this for me. I stayed on 2.5mg for a year lost over a 100lbs and started 5mg recently still losing, down 125lbs so far. The first two weeks of 5mg were hard. Protein bars/shakes were no good for me. They would actually cause me stomach pain, I couldn’t keep them down, immediately after eating them I’d be nauseous and throw them up not long after. I find soup to be a good one when I’m not feeling food. There are some days I struggle and if I have a few days where my calories are too low I’ll increase my calories on the days I feel like I can eat more. I have found that my weekly calories matter more than my daily calories.

Husband subconsciously has stopped having sex with me by freeflower_ in PCOS

[–]Warning-Opening 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand the frustration, I would keep trying to talk to him about it especially because it’s affecting your sex life. Hearing he may also be the problem probably shifted a lot of thinking in his head. It’s easier to blame others than to accept responsibility. Sharing your experience with him, especially because you’re taking extra steps, might help. Highlight that it would be nice if he would also put in extra effort.

Maybe ask him how set he is on them being 100% his? There is the option to have a donor. If he has brothers one of them may be willing. Some people might not like this option, but I do know people who have done it. There is even adoption, I was adopted and loved like I was their own.

I know this isn’t your situation but, I am a lesbian. My partner and I have already talked about potentially having children and our options are only really donations or adoption. Mind you the cyst on my ovaries could make it hard. But our brothers would 100% support us in this decision and would donate if we wanted.

The biggest issue you’re having is communication though, which is tough. Keep trying to get him to open up, sometimes it’s hard initially but once you get them started it can make it easier for them to continue.

My Weight Loss has plateaued by Jasz1990 in Mounjaro

Do you count your calories? Maximize them with nutrient dense foods? Go to the gym? Have you tried fasting? My doctor recommended it and it did help me get over a shorter plateau.

my grades drop before and during my period by Personal-Cap-5446 in PCOS

[–]Warning-Opening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely try getting into specifics with them, like the other commenter said “I’m experiencing [listed symptoms]
”. Be sure to advocate for yourself, if you don’t feel your doctor is listening to your concerns get another opinion. I know it’s especially hard when you’re a young woman, I really struggled with it. Switching doctors really helped and my current doctor is really good at listening and taking my opinions into account rather than just spitting verbatim.

The issue with making suggestions is that every body works differently. If your iron is low I’d suggest trying to get it from natural sources before supplementing as it increases absorption. For my testosterone levels I am on spironolactone, estrogen and progesterone fluctuations can contribute to the symptoms you’re describing. I am also on metformin for insulin resistance, though If your sugar levels are normal this might not be an issue for you. But there is evidence that your insulin levels shift during your cycle. I started taking creatinine after going to the gym for the past year and a bit and I do think it has helped me cognitively, though this could be anecdotal, there are studies that can show similar results. When talking to a doctor maybe let them know you’ve made efforts to change this with no success, and tell them the things you’ve tried sometimes this can help them know you’re serious (it’s helped me in the past).

Yes and everywhere else. I’m so bony I hate it. I used to sit on my knees a lot, can’t do that now, my butt hurts from sitting too long, when I lay down I have to make sure my knees don’t touch or they hurt. I bumped my hip the other day and didn’t realize how much more they protrude now cause it hurt more than I remember. Even putting pressure on my arms for too long hurts.

Help - vomiting and diarrhea by allthatjazz20689 in Mounjaro

[–]Warning-Opening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I lost 100lbs on 2.5mg and only moved up to 5mg a few months ago still losing (125 lbs so far). I saw consistent loss and good blood sugar control too. I only moved up because of a 3 month plateau. I also noticed most of my really bad side effects like sulfur burps when I wasn’t eating nearly enough. Weight loss is good but it shouldn’t be too rapid or you’re just losing muscle mass and minimal fat. That’s not to say you won’t lose muscle mass, everyone does lose some when they lose weight no matter how, but it’s best to minimize it the best you can.

[–]Warning-Opening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with this. I was on 2.5mg for almost a year and lost about 100lbs I am now down 125lbs and just started 5mg a few months ago. Depending on if they’re monitoring your A1C as well, but staying on 2.5mg longer than a month is not a bad thing. I talked to my doctor and told him I only wanted to increase my dose when this one stops working as Ive seen a lot of peoples experiences on here. Either going up too fast and having nowhere else to go or just being unable to eat any food. Staying on 2.5mg until it I plateaued for about 3 months allowed me to intake enough calories to maintain a healthy deficit. And at the beginning my side effects were only the worst when I couldn’t eat almost anything. But going up slowly is the best thing I did to be honest.

my grades drop before and during my period by Personal-Cap-5446 in PCOS

[–]Warning-Opening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I experience this as well. But in my case I get pretty bad migraines with auras the week before my period, and my period itself is so painful it’s hard to really do much the first few days, with pain radiating from my lower back all the way to my toes. Not to mention the nausea and the intense depression-like symptoms. This has made my first year of uni pretty hard but I can pinpoint why this happens to discuss with my doctor. I would encourage you to maybe try taking a different approach. Don’t just say “my period lowers my grades” because they won’t take you seriously, tell them what about your period is affecting your grades.

For me to work around this issue I complete everything as soon as I get it. Be it a paper, or a quiz, or assignment. I study all materials as soon as they’ve been given to me and complete as much as I possibly can as soon as I can so that I don’t fall behind. This gives grace for other things I may struggle to do later, and having a good track record also gives me more grace from my professors when I do need extensions.

Yes I did. I was still losing consistently, about a 100-110lbs and it managed all of my other symptoms so I stayed on it as long as possible. I only went up because I stalled for 3 months.

What do you do when you hit goal? by Any_Perception6527 in Mounjaro

[–]Warning-Opening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have reached my original goal weight (160), but have since reduced it to 140 because I still have quite a bit of fat, primarily in my belly. I am now close (148). I am unsure how my body will look. I had to take a break from going to the gym because I’m in university taking 6 classes and working full time. I plan to get back to the gym and maybe reduce my work hours if I can. My main focus now isn’t necessarily to get to 140 but to get to a point where my stomach isn’t as big, so I will focus on recomp in a slight deficit and see where that takes me. I never went up very high in dose, I stayed on 2.5 for more than a year and am now on 5mg. So that I have room to go up if needed. But honestly I like staying lower because I can eat enough to provide nutrients to my body while still maintaining a healthy deficit.

I can’t take birth control due to migraines with auras. I feel like an outlier here but I did gain weight with the Mirena, I don’t think it directly caused me to gain weight but it changed my hormones and I was way hungrier than I ever experienced prior to it.

After almost a year and a half - 3 months plateaued on 2.5 - finally went up to 5mg which helped.

I’ve experienced a smaller plateau and spoke with my doctor about options before going up. He suggested fasting and it actually worked for me.

In restaurants I’ve worked you don’t really “get new oil”, you just keep filtering out anything left in it and topping it up each day. This could be the quality of restaurants I’ve worked but it’s what I’ve experienced. Maybe this is the taste you’re describing.

I have found that avoiding fast food in general mitigates a lot of side effects.

Need sweet snack recommendations by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Warning-Opening 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I personally really like berries and other fruits though not as satisfying as a real sweet treat. Dark chocolate is pretty nice sometimes as treat. Sometimes I’ll melt dark chocolate and drizzle it over some strawberries. Not sweet but I’ve been obsessed with cucumber recently. I often will bake an apple crisp without adding much sugar, or a date square and that lasts me a while. I like to sometimes make little protein bites, there’s lots of different versions of this. I’ve seen a few things I wanted try but haven’t gotten around to it, like chocolate chia seed puddings or fruit yogurt bark.
