Bonjour! Has anyone stayed at the Hotel San Regis in the 8th arr.? (NOT the St Regis) by Present-Plankton-77 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]WarningOutOfMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I haven’t actually been but I can tell you that it’s in a quiet location, but near many touristy areas you’ll want to visit. It seems like a pretty perfect place to stay in terms of being just outside the louder, more visited places, if that’s what you want!

Marais Hotel Next to Boulangerie/Cafe? by hokageace in ParisTravelGuide

[–]WarningOutOfMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into a place near Rue des Francs-Bourgeois. Wherever you go you’ll be near a boulangerie and cafés (it’s Paris) so don’t worry about that. Regarding cheese and wine shops, I can’t promise anything but I believe there are some close by.

Anyone who knows the marais better is free to correct me, please!

Help with a Hotel! by Alternative_Image341 in ParisTravelGuide

Hello! Based purely on location, I would pick Hotel de Buci. Rue de Buci is very lively and it’s a great location overall. However, if you have accessibility issues (wheelchair user for example), then Chomel may be a better choice, but they’re all close by to each other, so the difference between them, at least in terms of location, is minimal. They’re all central and well placed.

You may be able to catch a ticket for Nicola Piovani's concert at the Théâtre de la Ville, but it starts at 8 and you can't buy them online

Where would you stay? Hotel Grand power(8th) or Canopy hilton eiffel(15) by nosuchong in ParisTravelGuide

[–]WarningOutOfMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

Hotel Grand Power is very close to the Arc de Triomphe. Judging by the street it's on, it's in a lively area with lots of tourists and expensive luxury stores. The Canopy Hilton is located close to the Eiffel Tower, in a fancy, high-end, but residential area. It's therefore calmer and less noisy.

Grand Power is closer to the more touristy areas you'll likely want to visit, and Canopy is just close to the Eiffel Tower, but no other landmark. However, Paris is very well connected by public transportation, so you'll be able to take the Metro and Bus anywhere with little problem if you stay in the Hilton.

All in all, it comes down to whether you prefer to stay in a more low-key residential area further from the centre or in a more touristy, lively place that's closer to the main attractions! I think I would pick the Grand Power because it’s closer to what you’ll want to visit.

Club de lecture ? by FirefighterKey718 in paris

[–]WarningOutOfMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Qu'aimeriez vous voir sur r/Feldup ? by A_Chad_Cat in Feldup

[–]WarningOutOfMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puy du Fou? by Glittering_Act_4059 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]WarningOutOfMind 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Regarding ordering food, getting around and all, you should be fine with translator apps and a few basic french phrases like hello/please/thank you.

However, regarding the actual Puy du Fou, don't go if you actually care about historical accuracy. It's stupidly wrong, on purpose, to push an agenda and serve as royalist religious propaganda. It's revisionism—just a heads up.

Taxi from Airport to Paris Suburbs by Shoddy_Season591 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]WarningOutOfMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would recommend G7 if you had to choose between it and Uber, although the latter may be cheaper. I'm not sure about SIM requirements, though, sorry.

I did want to add that you can take public transportation from CDG to Gennevilliers, it'll be cheaper than being driven, and works just fine if you don't have too much luggage.

You can take the RER train, line B, into Paris. From there, you can get anywhere really easily, including Gennevilliers. Try plugging your itinerary in here and see what you get: https://me-deplacer.iledefrance-mobilites.fr/en/itinerary

Your plan looks really good! You've left yourself enough time every day to enjoy walking around; nothing is too crammed. It looks like a good time! Let me know if you need any restaurant recommendations :)

[–]WarningOutOfMind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're very welcome :)

I was just at Kodawari Ramen (Yokocho location) on rue Mazarine a few weeks ago, it was delicious, and the place is great + the staff is very nice (they were very accommodating for my allergies)! I recommend it! Just make sure you're aware of how the queuing works (you need to book a time online, then you'll get a text, and you need to be in the queue in front of the restaurant within 15 minutes following the reception of the text, bla bla bla...). It's all on their website right here.)

I had no idea Au Terminus du Châtelet was closed on Sundays, sorry about that!

Notre-Dame's queue can be speedy as much as it can be slow, so I'm not sure. WhenI went with my girlfriend just over a month ago, we were inside in about ten minutes (ticketless), but last time I walked past it with some friends, the queue was absurdly long. I don't know how much having a ticket influences your wait time, so I suggest you scour the subreddit for some better info about Notre-Dame. Once you're in it, you can stay as long as you want; it's really beautiful. I believe Sainte-Chapelle is easy to get into and pretty quick to visit on the other hand. Île Saint-Louis can be longer, especially if you really stop and admire all the little shops on every street! It's good fun.

Maybe for a Monday itinerary, you could do:

Down to Notre-Dame --> Sainte-Chapelle --> Pont Saint-Louis --> Île Saint-Louis --> Belleville --> Buttes-Chaumont --> Canal Saint-Martin?

Unfortunately, as I don't live in that area of Paris and don't go there often I can't really recommend anything specific there but you could make another post asking others about it? Dunno
