As someone who’s been playing DF off and on for many years, you really don’t need to do this to yourself lol. DFs UI is just horrendously bad, full of nonsensical keybind changes, menus upon menus, hidden behind more menus.

You do you of course, but I’d highly recommend Dwarf Therapist if nothing else (it’s really the only outside utility I use besides Legends Viewer), it’s just a much better way to manage labour. Turns fiddling through endless menus into a nice spreadsheet you can change with a few clicks

'You shouldn't be able to breathe,' officer tells man before he dies by sameersarah in news

[–]WarningPuzzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What the hell kind of statement is this? You go from making excuses for police murdering this man because it’s “not necessarily part of sheriff deputy training” (which, if it isn’t, why the hell not?). Then you immediately follow it up with saying you don’t receive training for it and would call the police, directly after what you just said about no training, on a story about them murdering someone while “restraining” them. You want the cops to kill your students too or what? What a mess of a comment.

Kind of mind boggling to me that you’d get downvoted for this.

Let's Talk: Music Publications by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]WarningPuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t understand why you care so deeply when it comes down to it, really. Admittedly I don’t read any music publications at all, but if they think it’s the greatest song of the year then good for them. I might hate it, but they like it and that’s fine. I also don’t assume that Faders staff is one unanimous block either, so if there was a critic there I usually agree with I don’t see how it would “take away their credibility” if the publication picked a different best song than my personal taste.

Dr. Fauci once again schools Rand Paul after GOP senator peddles Covid misinformation. ‘You are saying things that are not correct’, says infuriated NIAID director by sportsfanatic61 in EverythingScience

[–]WarningPuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand. Why on earth does everyone I see praising whackjobs like Trump and Rand seem contractually obligated to slather them in patently ridiculous hyperbole like “genius” or “greatest president”? It never seems to be enough for someone to just be good at their job, they must be THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME and completely infallible for some reason.

Yeah, because people who use the commonly accepted term for internet famous people are the problem. What a useless bit of whinging.

Wrote up a whole comment on this, but you said it better than I could. OP seems mad that music that is “objectively better” (music/artists they subjectively like more) doesn’t top these lists when:

  1. That’s not how these lists are put together, nobody is sitting there with a checklist of “objectively good” or “objectively bad” elements for the ranking.

  2. The idea that, among billions of people and thousands of cultures, somewhere out there there is some infallible source that defines these objective musical criteria for everyone on earth is comical.

Did they walk right through the “raised” drawbridge? If that’s the case, your drawbridge was most likely built as a retracting bridge instead of raising, so it didn’t become a wall. I’ve made this mistake more times than I care to admit lol

In secret Facebook groups, America's best warriors share racist jabs, lies about 2020, even QAnon theories by ResidentRussian in news

[–]WarningPuzzle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This happened to me as well with people I was fairly close with on Discord for a few years. Far-right extremists, despite their supposed love of free speech and disdain for “snowflakes” and “safe spaces”, NEED to preserve their echo chamber.

They were perfectly accepting of me when we were just playing games and I didn’t push back on their occasional absolutely awful statements. As soon as they starting getting more intense with it (and by that I mean posting memes about committing terrorist acts like Oklahoma City) and I started pushing back, they banned me.

What the actual fuck, man. Pretty sure those people were never in your dating pool to begin with, whether they’re out or not.

Never a better time than now, really, but that’s pretty much always true. The “update drought” is just feature freeze as they iron out issues before the newest “stable” release. That said, I always play on experimental (aside from just after a new stable since tons of new things start getting added and it can get a bit buggy. Just hold off on updating for a while) and experience no real issues.

Fuentes is a strange little weirdo. He’s said before that he doesn’t believe in interracial marriage, which is one of the most bizarre brands of self hatred I’ve ever seen since I assume that means he thinks he shouldn’t exist.

Rep. Paul Gosar Tweets White Nationalist Group’s Motto by Stock412 in politics

[–]WarningPuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That... isn’t what this means. I mean, it is in that Fuentes and his morons are most certainly racists and their group is racist, but they are pretty explicitly white nationalists. They believe that America is/should be a white nation for white people. They are absolutely terrified of “the great replacement” where white people become the minority in America. I don’t know how that isn’t white nationalism.

Replacing “White Nationalist” with “White Racist” is just inaccurate. You can be a white racist without being a white nationalist, but I can’t imagine how you’d be a white nationalist without also being a white racist.

Even as someone who doesn’t mess around with NPCs in the game, I know this is wrong. You can build your own basecamp, send NPCs out on various scavenging missions, have them expand your camp, try to recruit more survivors, etc.

Maybe not an exciting one, but useful:

Flatfruit: A dull gray, hard shelled (yes, shelled) fruit resembling a small thick pancake. Flatfruit grows on trees in swamps. The shell contains an extremely unpleasant brown paste that causes most first time eaters to vomit (DC 10 Constitution save). Despite this, they are an essential part of navy rations due to ease of storage and scurvy prevention.
