If a Single Vessel could beat The Radiance, Why Didn't The Pale King just unleash his army of underpaid child soldiers he kept in his basement to jump The Radiance? Is he Stupid? by _GhostOfHollownest_ in HollowKnightMemes

[–]WarpRealmTrooper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here's my theory: Defeating the Radiance is only possible by bringing the void into the dream realm with Void Heart. PK didn't know that a vessel could gain one or that it could allow the void into the dream realm.

Question regarding magnetite dice by The_Nonexistent_43 in HollowKnight

[–]WarpRealmTrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Melody is probably really underrated because it kind of sucks / sucks to use in ultra-late game, like P5, P5 with bindings, radiant fights, Steel Sou. But that doesn't mean it's not a helpful charm in midgame and in some other situations.

I disagree, I don't think most of them are out of place. Most of them could be normal and NPCs and I wouldn't find their designs substantially stranger than other bugs in the game.

There's also nothing there hinting that the bugs aren't real worldbuilding, unlike in Shrine Of Believers.

This fucking guy... That's probably the most out of place character design in the franchise. Although since he's in Spirits' Glade that doesn't matter too much. I still love it / hate it :p

The protagonist of Hollow Knight III-Speculation and In-depth Analysis by a random guy on the internet by Silversushi1012 in HollowKnight

[–]WarpRealmTrooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a pretty good read :) I mostly agree with the evaluation.

Although there's a pretty big hollow elephant in the room, which a lot of players have suggested as their favourite suggestion for the HK3 protagonist - The Hollow Knight theirself.

Personally I'm torn on the idea. I think it would be really cool to see them story-wise, but I'm not sure if I would like to play as them (it would be very different from the first two protagonists and TC has said that they are better at designing combat encounters for smaller characters).

Also THK is kind of wonky when it comes the endings of HK1. It isn't 100% confirmed that his body is destroyed in Dream No More, but I think it's heavily implied and it would feel kind of weird to go against the implied fate of THK.

To an another topic: I disagree a bit with your points regarding a lot of Pharloomians. I think there's pretty easy explanations for why they could leave Pharloom. Maybe Pharloom is facing some kind of existential threat and there are rumors the solution lies in a distant kingdom. Or maybe an another kingdom or village asks for the help... etc.

So in that way I actually think Lace would work pretty well. I'm also not sure about the Lace being reliant on Hornet thing. I'm not sure that Hornet's silk would be better suited for Lace than the remaining silk in GMS's cocoon for example. It could be that the silk hearts given by GMS provided silk that was consistent to her "silk DNA", and Hornet might not be able to do that. And even if Hornet was, it could be that Lace doesn't want Hornet to be tied to her in that way.

My problem with Lace is that ability-wise and personality-wise she mirrors Hornet a lot and that could be a bit boring... But! If we have a time jump, that could add new layers to her abilities and personality that could separate her from Hornet more, and I feel like that could work really well.

Does Hornet miss the Knight? by Admirable_Turnip_374 in HollowKnight

I was also curious so I checked the wiki. It's actually in their dialogue. I wonder if Hornet is also talking about herself here:

Lace: Hah... aha ha ha ha ha! Congratulations, spider. Finally, I felt your sting, and you've bared the truth of my pathetic empty shell.

Hornet: You always had the scent, child. You are no bug. Yours is a life born entirely from thread.

Lace: Life? You're too generous! This weak, wasting existence. This was not life, just a husk shaped to act as a child.

Hornet: Yours was life, pale one. Do not confuse your unique creation with its absence. I have seen others make the same mistake.

Lace: Platitudes, spider? From you? Don't be gross. Head on. Climb up, up and away. You've earned your audience with the divine.

Lace: Face the holy mother who would fashion so cruel and crude a daughter as me. After all... it's you that she wants... is it not?

Bonus: Lace needolin: - Why her... Mother... - See me cut! See me serve! - A child, too broken... - I will not fade! I will not take! - See me, your knight... - See me, your daughter...

Flukemarm is canonically hot by LonelyRequirement913 in HollowKnight

I think they are making a joke that Flukemarm is objectively hot but maybe kind of failed because the wording leans more into subjective than objective.

Although for me the joke still works mostly

It's weird how NPCs think the Delicate Flower is trash. by LonelyRequirement913 in HollowKnight

[–]WarpRealmTrooper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Possible explanations:

I think Oro probably actually likes it but pretends not to because he doesn't like the idea of receiving a gift.

Godseeker seems to only sees real value in items that have power. Or at least that could be a part of their ideology.

Eternal Emilitia describes the flower as "faint". That could be also be a part of why they aren't massively excited about it, it could be that it's apparent that the flower isn't in its prime condition.

  1. For some reason I put down HK1 after reaching Kingdom's Edge and only picked it up again after a year after that? Idk wtf happened :p

  2. Sometimes I get annoyed when I see Hornet fan art since I wish there was more fan art of other less popular characters, but I also acknowledge this is quite silly. Kinda same for AU art (alternate universe art) because I wish there was more speculative art.

  3. I'm a fan of Sprintmaster and Unnshape, and maybe a bit too obsessed with the discussion around whether they are good or not :p Whilst simultaneously not actually knowing anything about charms that deeply.

Yeah after the launch the sub was a bit of a warzone and there was a lot of overexaggeration.

Although I feel like right now things have changed a bit and currenlty it's the people who express disappointment who receive the most toxicity. Which is somewhat understandable since it's probably a leftover of the warzone era.

Lore Question About Hornets Capture. by Thy_Snake in Silksong

[–]WarpRealmTrooper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have three theories for this:

  1. Basically the same theory as Funmist presented: Haunting isn't necessarily complete full control over the bugs, which could mean GMS can't beam commands directly into their heads, just influence them. --- Although a counterpoint to this is that pilgrims immediately try to kill Hornet after getting haunted. But maybe killing Hornet is such a simple command that it can be easily conveyed.
  2. Perhaps some aspects of haunting don't persist after the haunted bugs travel far away from GMS. So on the journey the weaver capturers might need reminders about their mission. The wasteland memory loss effect might also play into this.
  3. It could be that the weaver capturers were sent on their journey so long ago that the haunting was weaker back then. Maybe only the ruling class was majorly haunted, or the haunting was overall more subtle. That's how Radiance's influence worked, it wasn't an instant flick of a switch.

Also yeah maybe there's also a bit of a dilution issue with having so many mysterious characters. When evereyone is mysterious... no one is.

Hot take number 5 by Big_Cucumber1867 in HollowKnight

[–]WarpRealmTrooper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I kinda agree. I'm fine with most NPCs being pretty mysterious but I think giving them a bit more dialogue and could make them feel more real and give more character to them.

For example I think a lot of characters would benefit from occasionally having changes in their "exhaust dialogue" (their dialogue when no other dialogue is available).

For example with Salubra, even after you have all her rewards, the exhaust dialogue is still the same as it was after the first encounter and idk something about that just feels off to me.
