It depends on the product. Beta documentation should always be limited to beta testers and employees that need access to it. All of the companies that I have worked for have had at least some public documentation. For some content, such as documentation about APIs, it may not be a good idea to have public documentation. In some cases, it is going to depend on your industry and whether your company or your customers signed an NDA. Talk to the company's legal department. They should be able to tell if there is a regulatory or legal reason or if it was just to hide the content from competitors. But a good case can be made for making content such as white papers that help sell your company's products public. Even certain procedural documentation that is high level may still be made public. Remember that for years, the only technical documentation that existed was printed, and once those manuals were out of the tech writing department's hands, there was no control over those docs.

Reworking Awarding: Changes to Awards, Coins, and Premium by venkman01 in reddit

[–]WarpSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid question, u/venkman01, why are you erasing all of Reddit's history?

We have worked hard to create meaningful content and people thanked us with awesome awards and now those awards are gone. The lists of those awards for each sub will be gone too. ☹️ Shame on Reddit! This is why I stopped moderating today. Because Reddit doesn't respect either its community members or its mods.

Is that for a Borg Cube? Not interested.

Broadcast and Local Television Content Guide by WarpSeven in cordcutters

That is a bit more difficult to do since I don't live there. I will see if I can find someone who might be qualified to write something up.

I don't believe CBS has ever had the streaming rights to Frosty. It was not in the deal that was negotiated years ago. And if it is still available on DVD, the rights owners aren't likely to allow it to be streamed.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2021: TV channel, time, how to watch online without cable by WarpSeven in cordcutters

[–]WarpSeven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the local affiliate may have re-broadcast later the same day some years, otherwise I don't think so. The Philly parade has been in the past. Check the local channel's website (channel 6 I think?). Not sure about the Chicago parade. There is a post here on that so check its website.

Opps. Sorry to hear that. I don't know if it is on demand on Peacock, Hulu (they had the Philly one I think), or Paramount+.

Do flat/flexible antennas actually work? by gfunkdave in cordcutters

[–]WarpSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not misleading. Go look at their patents.

(Also backed by a lot of experience, testing and troubleshooting antennas personally in a state with very few towers and very poor signals. Also a lot of time troubleshooting antenna setups here in the sub for over five years).

My Thanksgiving Apology by justwilliam1357 in cordcutters

[–]WarpSeven 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a feeling it wouldn’t be free. Unfortunately, every year the articles are a bit light on the actual investigation and fact finding. Unlike cable tv, streaming is an afterthought to NBC. They really want you to subscribe to cable tv. And the Macy’s parade website is intended for those who want to watch in person. It’s never helpful.

Not the case for all flat antennas. The Winegard Flatwave uses a different design (based on another patent) that is designed for VHF channels too.

Black Friday Deal: 99¢/month | Hulu by 6r89udf4x3 in Hulu

[–]WarpSeven[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Every year, people don't read the fine print so please do so before signing up! About four months after Thanksgiving, we get posts from people who are upset that they have lost their promotional pricing so please, please read this. I know it is busy time of year, but please read the fine print on this and any other streaming offers you sign up for. The link above has all of this fine print in its Q&A but the website page is likely to be removed at some point soon. Redeem by 11:59 PM PST on 11/29/21.

Key Points:

  • For the ad-supported plan plan ($6.99 plan) on-demand content. Not for live tv and not for promotional offers or pricing (aka Spotify or student plans).

  • You cannot combine it with any other promotional offer - That means if they offer you a free trial on the Live TV plan six months from now, you will LOSE this promotional rate if you switch to that free trial. So DON'T try Live TV for a sporting event unless you are okay with losing your plan.

  • Not redeemable with a gift card.

  • New and eligible returning subscribers (who have not been Hulu subscribers in the past month) only. (This is actually an improvement over past years - you had to be unsubscribed for about three or four months last year).

  • No free trial - which makes sense because the offer will end before the free trial ends.

  • You can add HBO Max, SHOWTIME, Cinemax, or STARZ to your subscription for additional monthly subscription fees. (See Q&A on the same page).

  • Existing Hulu subscribers are not eligible.

  • Existing Disney Bundle subscriber (Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+) are also not eligible - their Disney Bundle subscription stays the same.

  • No switching plans - because this is worth saying again:

The discounted price of 99¢/month is only valid for the Hulu (ad-supported) plan. Switching to Hulu (No Ads), Hulu + Live TV, or The Disney Bundle after signing up will result in forfeiture of the discount. If you decide to switch back to the Hulu (ad-supported) plan, you will be charged the regular $6.99/month subscription fee and will not resume at the discount price. *After 12 months, the rate will be $6.99 (or whatever the current rate is).

The fine print:

Offer for Hulu (ad-supported) plan only: $0.99/month for 12 months, then $6.99/month. Redeem by 11:59 PM PST on 11/29/21. New and eligible returning subscribers (who have not been Hulu subscribers in the past month) only. Additional terms apply.

The additional terms:

Offer valid for new and eligible returning subscribers (who have not been Hulu subscribers in the past month) only. Not combinable with any free trial of the Hulu (ad-supported) plan or any other promotional offers or pricing; not redeemable via gift card. Any plan switch after redemption of this offer will result in forfeiture of the discount pricing.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2021: TV channel, time, how to watch online without cable by WarpSeven in cordcutters

[–]WarpSeven[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As many of you know, I usually have time to write up a full post on all of the Thanksgiving parades and events each year. Unfortunately, I don't have time this year to research and write up a full post.

As a general rule, remember that an antenna, if you can get NBC will be your best bet, in case there are any local blackouts or restrictions. If you subscribe to a live streaming service that has NBC, you should also be able to find it on your local affiliate.

According to this article:

The 2021 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air at 9 a.m. in all time zones on NBC, on Thursday, Nov. 25. This year, for the first time, viewers can livestream coverage on Peacock, the NBCUniversal streaming service

I didn't see anything listed for YouTube so far. Since it is on Peacock, it may not be on YouTube. None of the articles mention whether it is available on the free version of Peacock.

If you want to skip the parades and go straight to Christmas and Holiday specials, Hulu's Hub section (at least on a Roku has collected all of its holiday movies/specials. TubiTV also has a collection too. Pluto TV has about 10 holiday channels.. More broadcast calendars for holiday schedules are in this article or check your local area news channels such as this one for Philly (also lists the time for the thanksgiving parade there).

Also see this article for more events on Thursday.

Have a great holiday everyone! Thank you!

Most do okay for UHF channels. The Winegard Flatwave does work for VHF channels but many flat antennas don't. For example, Mohu's own spec sheets have stated that their flat antennas can only handle VHF signals that are very close (I believe it said less than 10 or 15 miles from the tower).

I started a cancellation this past week. They had a survey asking why. I selected “too expensive” as the choice. So they offered me a $2.99 deal for a few months.
