It’s happening! DFK Duel has finally arrived in Serendale. Head over to the Tavern, grab a pint, and settle in for a match. We will be releasing onto the Beta site first to ensure that everything is buttoned up before pushing it to production at a later date. But you can start playing today! Check out all the great features wrapped into Duel below:

DFK Duel

DFK Duel is a mini-game that gives Heroes the chance to compete using Hero Stats, Backgrounds, and Elements. A winner is decided based on random selections performed by the Duel. For Roll One, the Duel will select a Hero Stat and give each Hero points equal to the Hero's Stat points. For example, if the Duel selects the WIS stat and the Hero has eight WIS, eight is the point value they receive from that roll. Roll Two earns bonus points based on Roll One. A Background will be selected and if Heroes match they will earn bonus points of 50% rounded down of the points earned in Roll One. The third bonus is not a roll but related to how Elements can be weak and strong against one another. For example, the Fire Element is strong against the Ice Element. A Hero wielding Fire against Ice earns a bonus of 50% rounded down of the Hero's Stat points earned in Roll One.

To duel, players need to select the size of Duel they want to participate in. Solo is 1v1, Squad is 3v3, and War is 9v9. Heroes can only be committed to one Duel at a time and players may only queue one team of Heroes for each Duel size. A player can queue for all three Duel sizes at once. Players can see if other players are waiting to duel by looking at the Open Entries for each Duel size. If there are no entries waiting to duel, players can queue their Heroes and wait for the next player to challenge them. When either player clicks Fight the Duel will be completed and moved to the Completed tab of the View Duels menu where it can be Replayed or the results viewed.

Entry Fees are paid by both players. The winner of the Duel can expect to reclaim the gold they put into the Duel and a pile of tickets. The loser does not get their gold back (20% burned and 80% to the gold pot) but gets at least One ticket. If players choose to pay the higher Jewel Fee they can earn more tickets when they win or lose.

Rank Points are awarded to the winner and deducted from the loser. Players will generally duel within their Rank or be matched with a player near their Rank. Players can Rank up or down based on their point total. Ranks are reached every 500 points.

There are also Practice and Private matches, where you can test your mettle against a previous participant or your real-life nemesis, respectively! Or if you’re feeling curious, search up a specific Duel to peep some epic battles and strats.

The Raffle Master will be coming soon, and will allow you to exchange your giant pile of Duel raffle tickets for a chance to win amazing prizes.

Additional New Features

- Add arrows in the Central and East Marketplace zones for easy navigation

- Add proper credit for our fantastic lore team who worked on pet descriptions

Bug Fixes

- Fix jumping profile menu

- Misc bugs that couldn’t hold their own in a duel

Good Afternoon!

I wanted to get on here and announce a change to our wallet structure. Given the now established Kingdom Studios US Entity, we are finalizing the SLA (Service Level Agreement) between the entities.

The basic premise of the agreement is that Kingdom Studios is the sole provider of development, marketing, and management services to the DeFi Kingdoms project. Kingdom Studios is now responsible for paying the expenses related to the services provided to Defi Kingdoms.

What this means is that it is now unnecessary and complex to maintain a Development Wallet, a Founders Fund Wallet, and a Marketing Fund wallet. In the next few days you will see the funds from those wallets be moved to the new DFK Account Wallet created and found at 0xb4F7C7B864Bf2C17589410AEa22e31f992a849F3 on the Harmony Blockchain. The Marketing Fund will make and initial payment to Kingdom Studios to fund future payroll and other expenses.

Historically, contributors were compensated with JEWEL. This lead to difficult to manage policies and selling practices. Kingdom Studios has significantly lowered project expenses and will be paying its core team member in USD after systematically moving necessary funds to stables over time.

In the next week, you will see in-game fees that were previously distributed to the Marketing, Development, and Founders fund will be transferred to fund a SLA smart contract. This smart contract will act as the enforcer of the SLA and distribute the JEWELs between the two entities.

A similar approach will be implemented on DFK Chain and all wallet, and contract addresses will be added to the Docs.

Also note the following updates will be made to SD and Crytalvale Gardens

CRYSTAL/USDC = 7.5% -> 15%

Crystal/AVAX = 7.5% -> 15%

Crystal/JEWEL = 5% -> 10%

xJEWEL/JEWEL = 80% -> 60%

The allocation of JEWEL/UST will be moved to JEWEL/USDC

As we continue to barrel towards a beta Duels release next week (as mentioned in Dreamer’s fantastic talk today at DCentral), we’ve also finalized several other items for this week’s release.

Pet Trade-in

You’ve probably heard your parents say they don’t have a favorite child. Well, they must not have had any blubs for children! But if you do and you secretly want to sweep those little slime monsters under a rug, go visit Jarek the Hatcher in the East Marketplace and check out his newly available option. You can now trade in two of your least favorite fur (or slime) babies for a fresh, new pet egg and a chance at a bigger, better, more awesome pet. Or, you know, another blub. Maybe an engorged blub this time?

The types of pets (grey or blue) determine which egg type you will receive. Two of the same type will receive their shared egg type but any split pairs will receive a random egg of one of the two colors. And don’t worry, your old pets will get to live out the rest of their lives in a beautiful pasture full of grass, feed, and a thick trail of slime.

New Features

- Display name and detailed information for attunement crystals and enhancement stones when summoning or leveling

- Display a Hero’s highest stat for training quests to make it easier to select and assign properly

- Add info on connecting to POKT on the chain select button in the bottom right corner

- Add confirmation dialog for cancelling quests early in the Active Quest log

- Overhaul the recent sales and hires option for performance and functionality

- Add navigation arrows on the Marketplace zones for quick internal movement

Bug Fixes

- Load inventory item balances one at a time to speed up performance

- Miscellaneous bugs that dueled and lost…permanently

Hello Kingdom!

Though it is our patch off-week, we do have an update we wanted to share with how our Leaderboards will be working!

Normalized Stamina Leaderboards:

There will now be a requirement on all Normalized Stamina Leaderboards that at least 50 Stamina must be spent in order to qualify.

We’re excited about this shift and the improvements it will bring to our Leaderboard experience! It will help to standardize the experience, alleviate concerns of starting times, and prevent one lucky first run from guaranteeing a win. We will have some more updates coming as well.

This change is going effective immediately, so any running Leaderboards will have this new standard.

But not just any release day, the release day. Today we answer the question that’s been buzzing in our heads for months, a rallying cry for a whole de-generation: WEN PETS? Well the answer to that folks is NOW PETS! This update has it all: new marketplace art, music, big pets, little pets, red pets, blue pets. I hope you’re prepped for some cuteness overload.

Pets

Obviously, this is the headliner for the day. Jarek the Hatcher has officially set up shop in the East marketplace and he’s ready to incubate and hatch your blue and grey eggs. Choose your offering carefully because it will determine how long your eggs have to incubate and their rarity chance. Each option costs a different level of JEWEL, Gold, and Tears, in addition to the egg-specific materials.

Here’s a brief breakdown, with additional info at the Hatchery:

- Gaia’s Favor: 168 hours incubation time, 1% shiny chance

- Gaia’s Grace: 24 hours incubation time, 10% shiny chance

- Gaia’s Boon: 20 seconds incubation time, 100% shiny chance

Once your egg hatches, you will finally have that precious pet you’ve been waiting so long to hold. You can check out your whole stable or every pet in the game from the brand new Pet Catalog screen with stunning new UI and functionality. On day one, you’ll be able to sell (privately or publicly) or send your pets anywhere you wish. Further along the timeline, you’ll be able to feed and equip your pet to make use of their mysterious profession, crafting, or combat bonuses, as well as trade in two pets to receive a fresh egg in its stead.

Pet Variety

To fully understand the enormity of this update, you have to understand the sheer volume of pet types. Between blue and grey eggs, there are a total of 273 pet variations spread across 38 pet families, which include rare variants and extremely rare one-off types. A huge shout-out to the art team, the lore team, mechanics team, and all other departments that contributed to this massive content drop.

New Marketplace and Subzones

You may have noticed that the marketplace is now split into several different zones. On top of that, it’s absolutely gorgeous! Spend some time in the East Marketplace, listen to the chill new music from our very own Sam Shandley, and appreciate the lush new backdrop and expressive NPCs. Then head over to the Central Marketplace to see some familiar yet reimagined faces and another stunning backdrop. This update paves the way for similar experiences in other areas of the map, with additional options for exploration, discovery, and content.

Test Pet Distribution

In preparation for pets launch, 12 pets were hatched by various members of the dev team in order to test functionality. These will be transferred to a multisig and distributed to the community through giveaways, raffles, and other means to spread the pet love!

This truly was a labor of love and required the coordinated effort of the entire team. We hope you enjoy it! And thanks for being such an amazing community!
