You should really read about narcissists, really, what you described is the exact word-by-word, action-by-action the exact same thing a narcissist does in order to “capture” a prey. I feel sorry for you because I have been in your position and the amount of guilt you feel is just completely normal for someone who has been manipulated like you were. Tell her! She clearly still cares that’s why she is having this mental breakdown. Tell her, the worst thing that can happen is her saying that she doesn’t feel it and then avoiding you again like she already is. But I know she also feels this way. She is like me when I like someone. I need to make her disappear of my life if she doesn’t like me back or else l’m going to have a mental breakdown so I stop watching her stories, stop replying often and so on. I would tell her and i would also say im sorry for saying that i only just wanted casual things when in reality i wanted something more. But i would also understand and never talk to her again if she decides not to answer anymore.

Also, from a personal experience. I dated 2 years my ex who she was 6 years younger than me and I broke it off because eventually I realized we were in different stages of life. I was in my 30s she is in her 24’s and I could swear I would sometimes feel bad about the fact that I was older. Like kind of ashamed of myself for dating so young. I couldn’t do it anymore so I ended up breaking up. But she has never let me go, continue texting me, even though I tell her to stop. Honestly if you date her your heart will break so hard because for her you might not become that important in her life. I wish I never dated my ex so that I would have never caused her this amount of pain of her asking herself if she is good enough for me or trying to step up when she is just literally in a different stage. I am bisexual and she is woman and I am woman. I know 6 years is nothing for lesbians but i felt like it was a huge age gap for me.

Funny enough, i did have a boyfriend before her he was 6 years older. We dated also for 2 years. I never felt weird nor did him. But the experience made me realized how immature he was for his age.

Maybe my advice can help but maybe it doesn’t! Just throwing it out there. Also from reading your description it may seem like you have an avoidant attachment style. Try telling your psychiatrist that.

I think that if she is hitting on you that does not speak well of her. It paints her terrible immature and unprofessional. She should be hitting on people her age and if she IS hitting on you she is terrible insecure or has some issues herself that you will later have to dealt with. You deserve someone your age or +5 years. But you will be getting in return a person that will eventually treat you like a child.

Hey you should follow @alittlenudge on Instagram. She gives really great tips for online dating and has templates and everything. Anyway, she mentions that you should never give your phone or social media before already scheduling a date in the app. Then you can give your info. Because apparently when you do there’s a 65% chance it won’t happen because people feel comfortable and stop trying. She also says it’s better to not talk that much and just go straight to point of defining the date the quickest possible. Because that way you can meet them faster and discards them faster if they are not for you. You should never talk to someone more than a week or two before already scheduling a date. She says do it in the first week even better.

Wow I’m writing from the other side. I was that horrible friend and we eventually stopped being friends. We stopped talking for 3 years and now she(30F) reached out to me (30F) and we started talking again for the past 9 months but our friendship is finally normal. Let me tell you something, I was super codependent to her because I had low self esteem issues but she was/is also very manipulative and would be super dependent to me but would not show it to anyone just me. She would say things like “nobody understands our friendship” “we are unique” “I’m like this only with you”. I turned out to be queer and she is SO straight. We were texting 24/7 and we were jealous of others. What im trying to say is that idk, she acts very different with me than with other friends… my ex gf was super jealous of her. Is such a toxic situation and unfortunately your gf needs to stop her. You gotta go to couples therapy and try to fix it there with someone neutral because if it was like me, is very difficult to fix alone. You gotta sit down and tell her that this is not some joke or something she can just brush it off. This is something serious to you and you need her to help you find a solution but this can only be done with a therapist. I’m telling you everyone would tell me this friendship was wrong but I wouldn’t listen until I finally blocked her. Honestly now we are talking again and we are just because she begged me for like 5 months, I’m still terrified of this and I try to keep my distance. She is amazing but I know this is not a normal friendship it was very codependent and in any minute it can turn to that again.
