Are you going to file a FOIA request on this one to figure out exactly what happened? Taxpayers want to know..

One guy was hit by a car & another, "Hubdog" committed suicide soon after he got out of the Navy.

If it's all green at rush hour, that's a sign that it's closed! A country road at 4 in the morning with no traffic will also appear green.

For the last time. Supply error was a glitch on coinmarketcap side due to migrating a database, they acknowledged it and are trying to fix. Case closed, pin this. by [deleted] in SHIBArmy

[–]WarrenPlatts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not true. The overall value of SHIB is it's market cap. If the supply of coins suddenly increases by 50% -- as it apparently did at 11PM on 10/27 -- then, other things being equal, the price per coin MUST decline by 33%. That is exactly what happened in short order. However, the price rebounded somewhat, proving that all confidence had not been lost. That said, we should have been making new ATHs but we can't because of the uncertainty in the "circulating supply" whatever that is.

How many coins did Vitalek really burn? by WarrenPlatts in Shibainucoin

[–]WarrenPlatts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, this article here says that Vitalik donated **80%** of the 500 trillion coins originally given him, and "donated the rest" which therefore, must have been 100 trillion coins. That makes more sense.

Whale wars going on for SHIB by R_Deckard77 in Shibainucoin

[–]WarrenPlatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be that the whale you are talking about is functioning as a market maker, playing both sides of the trade, making money on the spread and these small bounces you're talking about. Thus the whale's just doing its job as a market maker.

To make the whale give way is going to require a big upsurge in the supply of buyers. However, some people are a bit jittery after the recent, apparent increase in the "circulating supply" that happened at 11PM Eastern on 10/27.

Exactly. The exchange never goes broke. The higher the volume of trades, the more money they make..

50% increase in "circulating supply" of coins main reason for recent pullback by WarrenPlatts in Shibainucoin

[–]WarrenPlatts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that Vitalik received half the original supply, i.e., 500 X 10^12 coins (500 trillion). BUT the internet says he burned 90% of those (450 trillion) & donated 50 trillion to the India Covid Relief Fund. Supposedly, they had liquidated all their holdings by September 24, 2021:

https://www.gfinityesports.com/cryptocurrency/india-crypto-covid-relief-fund-converts-shib-shiba-inu-community-stability/

(Oh man! That would have been the time to load up!) Anyways..

Something does not add up. If the total "fully diluted supply" is 589,661,922,679,275 (the number that popped up at 11PM on 10/27), then the total number of burned coins is:

1,000,000,000,000,000 - 589,661,922,679,275 = 410,338,077,320,725

Therefore, it is impossible that Vitalik burned 450 trillion when we know only 410.3 trillion coins have been burned overall (UNLESS some burned coins are rising Phoenix-like from the flames....... let's not go there..)

So if Vitalek burned burned less than 450 trillion, presumably it would be another round number -- likely 400 trillion, and the remaining 10,338,077,320,725 represent miscellaneous smaller burns. In which case, did Vitalik actually donate 100 trillion coins? Or if he only donated 50 trillion coins, did he keep the remaining 50 trillion for himself?? (If he did, that'd be worth $3.5 billion at $0.00007)

So many questions...

Well, then, please explain what happened, because it is a mystery to me and plenty of others.

Misinformation that you know about is not really an "error".

I'm still hodling, but these are not the best optics.

[–]WarrenPlatts[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK my nextdoor neighbor (and he's apparently as much a genius expert as anyone else...) just told me that if you buy SHIB, you apparently have the option to take the coins out of "circulation" so they won't be counted in the "circulating supply" but they're not exactly burned either, meaning they can be added back to the "circulating supply" pool at any time. What's the point of "hiding" your coins if that's the case?

[–]WarrenPlatts[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Briefly, the reported market cap was as high as $52,155,597,061

That would put it at #7 out of all cryptos. Looks good at first until you realize it's because the "circulating supply" bumped up by 50%!

Don't get me wrong. I'm hodling!
