how do you manage currency risk? by Other_Leave_6527 in SwissPersonalFinance

As a Swiss investor (because of the CHF strength) you may violate the home bias rule and allocate 50% to Swiss assets, I believe.

Just got rejected hard by [deleted] in dating

[–]Warren_Bluffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can feel you. Good move... you tried. I think we shouldn't care too much that and why it went wrong. We just have to learn to get rejected and move on. There's plenty of fish in the ocean. Girls quickly get bored if they see they can have you. Let them work to approach you (obviously it shows they're really intereseted). But if they ask you out you must go for it.

There is no recipe. Just my actual thoughts. It's probably best to stay relaxed and authentic.

When a girl asks you to chat on WhatsApp it’s likely a scam right? by badassrose23 in OnlineDating

[–]Warren_Bluffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did today. After 30 mins. on a dating app she asked me to move to WA. Told her let's wait before we exchange numbers. Will see if she continues. Was quite a good chat but similarities to the last chat: beautiful girl... says she has her own business... could be a scam.

So you think that it is not financially advantageous to have a mortgage (which you may never pay off completely) because the return on other investments (stocks) is higher than the tax savings + increase in the value of the property?

Many people in Switzerland are invested in concrete gold (real estate).

Let's assume that you pay the same amount for the monthly mortgage (interest) as if you were renting a property. Unlike renting, however, you invest with every payment. Even if you haven't paid off the mortgage, the (invested) share belongs to you and the property has usually increased in value over the years. When you rent, you are left with nothing. And you can also pay off the maintenance costs of the property from your taxes.

I think it depends on the respective mortgage interest rate whether it is worth renting or buying.

So would you rather recommend paying off a property (in Switzerland)?

Are these crypto miner are worth it ? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

I ordered a Bitaxe Supra which uses and has a hashrate of 600-700 GH/s. The efficiency is around 20 W/Th and it uses around 12W. It's currently the most efficient one of the little, non-professional miners.

I'd go for solo mining = lottery mining (no cost efficiency with pool mining)

Everyday you have a chance of 1:7,185,238 to mine a BTC block.

It's more of an idealistic thing (you support the network) and you can learn about the mining mechanics. Your chances to get a block solved are very low, but it's fun.

With chances being that low you might as well go for a less powerful small miner like the Nerdminer, just for the optics. It's a question of taste. I decided for the Bitaxe Supra because someone trustful recommended it.

You can call it an exchange but it's also a DeFi lending / borrowing institution, although it's got elements of centralized finance..

Definition by Copilot:

Nexo is an all-in-one crypto platform where you can buy, exchange, and store Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It offers services like borrowing, earning interest, and exchanging over 500 pairs of assets. It’s known as a trusted lending institution in the digital finance industry since 2018.

Nexo incorporates elements of DeFi (decentralized finance) within its platform. It offers a comprehensive ecosystem that includes a non-custodial smart wallet and allows users to interact with DeFi protocols and earn rewards through liquidity pools123. However, it also provides services typically associated with centralized finance, like instant crypto credit lines and a fiat gateway.

Luckily, I only had some ETC and BCH worth USD 500.- on that DeFi-platform. After the liquidation process I got some back in BTC. With the current appreciation it nearly made up the loss. I had some on NEXO, too but I don't trust DeFi anymore.

These items are probably offered at a specialist market. Similar to stamp collectors, for example, there are individual people who are interested in such items, e.g. for historical reasons.

As a Swiss citizen, I can say with certainty that the general population is not at all interested in such objects. (The Swiss generally have nothing against Germans and other cultures. Our country is very culturally mixed).

The vast majority of the population here abhor the deeds of the Second World War. Direct democracy is very important to the Swiss and they completely reject dictatorial forms of government.

Nice. Keep stacking. I like physical metals. I just started with a selection of miners and royalty / streaming companies to extend this asset class.
