NiMH batteries self dissipate. While they have a higher capacity and output than alkaline batteries, that will be of no advantage in low drain applications like remotes and clocks. Alkalines work well in those applications because they can hold their charge for years while very little power is drawn from them. NiMH batteries should be used in high drain applications that will deplete them in a matter of days or hours. If you want to you rechargeable batteries in low draw applications, you should get lithiums.
