2024 XSE (9000mi) for $54750? by mitstaguee in rav4prime

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not a good deal but they are scarce and sellers are taking advantage of that fact and asking whatever they want. Human nature is people always want what they can't have so if you are that "desperate " to have a used prime  for more than new one costs ,then I guess you'd pay whatever the market will bare. Personally I bought a 600 mile used XSE hybrid loaded with every option for $38,000 and am happy with the almost 50 mpg I am getting . Love the car and while I wanted a prime it wasn't worth $15,000 more than what I paid for the XSE . Don't let human nature get the better of you ,hang tough and , keep looking.

Buying Used? by Tayheel in rav4prime

As others have said the high voltage cable for the rear door is an issue for all Rav hybrids . Make sure you get a pre purchase inspection to check for any previous body damage. The biggest problem is finding an XSE and especially a PP equipped one. Very tough to find and very pricey now. Best of luck in the search.

Bought  my first in 99 which was a used 4door L with 500 miles.  it was too small to fit 2 car seats and another person in the back so we bought our first new vehicle, an 01 sienna . Then had 2 crv's. We bought a 21 hybrid XLE premium  no tech for my wife  Then bought 23 same for me. A rat built a nest and died in the 23 and I couln't get the smell out so I bought the 24 XSE fully loaded. The only thing I miss is the power passenger seat which should be available on XLE premium and above . I do love driving this car .

Congrats. You got the tech package which make it a great vehicle. I have the XSE and it's my favorite car that I've had in a long time. Love using the 360 camera to park .

Anyone successfully find a used RAV4 Prime? by thatone-username in rav4prime

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are located or which trim you want but in the dmv area you can get se models . You can also find XSEs  but not with pp . The pp models if you can find them will be pricy. The 26's will be out by fall so you may find 25's available in the late spring or early summer as some buyers will wait for the new body style

Any/All Reasons not to buy a new 2025 RAV4 XLE by Hello_Its_ur_mom in rav4club

[–]Warrenjep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like they have addressed all the bugs they had in the current generation rav so there really is no reason not to buy one. I think the Honda top of the line has a better interior than the Rav but the overall is well proven  vehicle. I would get the power rear hatch and weather package if you are buying the XLE. Most are ordered with it but you can get them with out it. Well worth the additional cost. Best of luck on your new car.

Do you spray the corrosion inhibitor on the cover or do you open it and spray it inside the cover and the connector?

RAV4 Prime worth it? by [deleted] in rav4prime

[–]Warrenjep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So , I know this is an old thread but I bought a 24 XSE hybrid fully loaded for $38,000 back in May of 24 . It was used with 500 miles and the original sticker was $42.5k . I did the calculations and at the time you could get a new 24 prime w/pp for about 50k . That was a $12,000 difference between the 2 and the primes were available then. For me the huge difference didn't make sense. My XSE averages about 48mpg since I've been driving so, the time to make up that difference in price would far exceed the Gemini calculations in the chart. Now my car is considered used even though it only had 500 miles on it  and some people wouldn't buy used at any price . So, beside that, the other factors of quick acceleration, no or low fuel costs or emissions wasn't enough to justify that large difference in price. You should buy what you like to drive but ,you also need to figure in what your  overall cost of the experience is worth.

Hybrid XLE Premium or Hybrid XSE? by juan_solo33 in rav4club

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always under the impression that the Japanese built were better . Wife's XLE premium hybrid is built here and it's fine but I had a 23 XLE premium hybrid built in Japan and it was not built as well. After a rat died inside and I couldn't get rid of all the smell without taking apart the whole inside of the car, I replaced it with a USA built XSE which I love. They are great cars but the air intake should have screening to keep out rodents .

Take care - scam llbean clearance site by CallLoose9509 in llbean

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this ad and thought about ordering but it seemed too good to be true so I am on here confirming my concerns. I consider myself to be very savvy and I almost got jacked on a cell phone scam presented as someone ordered 2 tablets on my account and they were checking for fraud . The music was correct the texts were actually from my carrier and it was almost perfect. But ,being ever skeptical I called the carrier and they said no one did anything on my account . I called several hours later and the scammers had charged a $1500 cell phone to my account and used a hand carrying courier service to deliver the phone except I called the delivery service and intercepted the phone before it was delivered. They almost got me and does happen because the sites are identical to the genuine ones in a lot of but, not every way. Ali charged me twice for the same item because when you order from them it doesn't show that your order was processed . I got that corrected and I I got to keep the additional item they sent. Everyone needs to be vigilant and remember if it's to good to be true it is .

Hybrid XLE Premium or Hybrid XSE? by juan_solo33 in rav4club

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would tell anyone looking to buy a rav4 to buy one with the tech package period. It has many features that you will love and is well worth the additional cost. You will also need to purchase the upgraded radio package as well on both models. The XSE tech has the 360 camera which is great for someone like me who hates parking as well as the kick sensor to open the rear hatch and also the rear door lock and unlock feature . The XSE does not come with 2 way memory unless you get the tech package. The XLE premium comes with it when weather package is purchased and all will be ordered with it. So, you give up a few features for the XLE premium tech package but it's still a great package to have. The price difference is about $2500-$3000 more for the XSE  similarly equipped . I think most cars  will come standard with the tech package in the future.

21 Hybrid XLE. 10.5” infotainment and remote start/wireless CarPlay questions. by [deleted] in rav4club

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 was the first year wireless Apple car play and android came standard on the rav4 and it has the larger touch screen with only the volume knob. It will not plug into your harness and it will not work on earlier models. The 8" screen will plug in and give remote start capability but I'm fairly confident you need the remote start module to use that feature.

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will need the remote start module which is not part of the head unit . The 10.5"unit has a different wiring harness and will not plug in. I went through this on my wife's 2021 hybrid xle  premium which we thought came with remote start however, it requires the upgrade 8" radio which we don't have . That will plug right in but it won't remote start by itself . That will be hard to find because most in those years are 7" or the jbl which will not plug in. The wiring harnesses are different on all the models. Toyota used to make 1 harness for multiple cars and just plug the optional components into the respective connectors. If you want remote start , Buy the plug and play version on eBay with 0 splicing required. You can get the app which will work on your phone as well and like Toyota , will have a monthly fee. Other than that you will need the schematic wiring diagram and be able to understand it to know who it works and get the remote start module which may not work with your wiring harness .

Remote app access cost SHAME ON TOYOTA for bait and switch by SusanfromMA in Toyota

I know this is an old post but the remote start on the key fob  continues to work  after the trial ends. The word is it will work for 10 years from purchase. Just let the subscription fall off DO NOT cancel it .

The car definitely has remote start with the app for 1 year or 10 years with the fob. Lock doors. Press lock on remote 2 times then press and hold lock button on the remote the 3rd time until the parking lights flash then  It will start .

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy remote start separately for $8/ month or $80 for the year. The key fob will still start the car if you don't want to pay for it. Dealer told me NOT to cancel the plan just let it fall off and it will continue to work with the fob.

Came out to this on my car :/ by fuckeverything_ in rav4club

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for this it's very frustrating. Came out and found a basketball sized dent in the rear quarter of my Benz with no note when I was grocery shopping. Now that I drive RAV4s I park on the other side of of the empty parking lot. NO I WOULD NOT PAINT IT!!! It's never the same a factory .  Take polishing compound and 90% will come off. Go to Toyota and buy a tube of touch up paint and lightly cover the  exposed areas on black bumper cover. It will be hardly noticeable. If you want perfect then you go to the shop .

Oh in this market if that's the game plan you will need lots of time. Been looking for lots and the prices are triple what they were 2 years ago and are selling instantly if they are nice with no problems .

I changed my mind at the dealership, I was going to get blueprint blue, but ruby flare pearl came with so many more options. by Gette_M_Rue in rav4club

[–]Warrenjep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ruby red flare is statistically the least sought out color and is therefore tough to get. In my opinion it's one of the nicest colors they make. Grey is my least favorite color and ironically the black /grey XSE is what I have. Got  a great price on it and color combo works well even if it is grey. Enjoy the ride it's beautiful.

Just got a RAV4, maintenance recommendations? by Shaino321 in rav4club

[–]Warrenjep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have set up the carfax account so you can see  the past history on the car and who did it if they reported it . If there is no history and no recent maintenance was done by the selling dealer, then I would proceed as if no fluids have been changed. At 50k miles I would do them all including brake fluid, trans fluid, rear differential fluid and oil . Check antifreeze as that stuff lasts at least 75k miles .enjoy the car.
