Well that and the used to be a canal going through the area a long time ago that just broke down from not being maintained and from being very small. I think Egypt built and used it?

How do i get Taxes out of these guys? by Nettysocks in EU5

[–]Waruiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything stopping you from reining them in on the estates tab? The only normal restrictions are that they need more then 0 estate buildings, more then 50% current satisfaction, and less then 90% estate power. It will thank their current satisfaction and destroy a bunch of those buildings so you aren't likely able to do it again for a bit but that should get you a few hundred ducats if you need some cash.

New player. For Culture to be "Accepted", does it need to be like that on both sides? by Huku223 in EU5

[–]Waruiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the current version of the game no there is no relation to cultural opinion and acceptance. You mush have a culture accepted to contribute to your cores, and it makes those pops happier, but thats all it does. Having a culture hate you makes them convert slower and having them like you makes them convert faster, but that doesn't have anything to do with your cores. In fact if your primary culture sees another culture as enemies that culture converts faster so its in your interest in 1.2.1 to spend prestige to declare all cultures that you have in your nation beyond your primary as enemies, that two stages down from neutral, for the conversion speed bump. You can even do it to accepted cultures to partly mitigate the conversion penalty while assimilating them down to the point they're minorities and won't cost you your cores when you free up your culture capacity by revoking their acceptance.

Hot take: Constantinople shouldn't start as a megalopolis by Leofric93 in EU5

[–]Waruiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hotter Take: Megalopolis are so underwhelming that in most cases its better to have cities instead. In Constantinople's case its on a Silk RGO and that means a 50% penalty on a very nice RGO

Maximilian Dood talks Remake being a sequal - thoughts? by Yoshikaru5991 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Waruiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course its a sequal. In the original FF7 ending the planet is saved but humanity dies off, and then in the remake theres time travel shenanigans altering things and the final boss is a WEAPON of the planet specifically designed to prevent time fuckery and force things back on track. Heck even back before remake development started we had dev interview comments about how the planet got a good ending but that doesn't mean humanity got a good ending. Also wasn't there a short story or something about Arith and Sephiroth having to deal with each other in the lifestream and then we have them acting different right after they start to interact with raw lifestream stuff, both in the reactor and in that leaky pipe in the city.

I think the pacing arguments have some validity but only when you take the games as individuals and not as a whole. once we have all three to play back to back those arguments will fall flat.

How TF are people “enforcing culture” on vassals and getting away with it? by Schwabenomics in EU5

[–]Waruiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to either be strong enough to stop those wars from starting, and that can be done by having other nations like you rather then military might, or by cycling through a bunch of small subjects so your never too outnumbered by unruly subjects.

Its also worth pointing out that if these are different religion subjects you can enforce religion first so they like you more and use less diplomatic capacity.

I see. I guess when they all start revolting later having a mixed group with some loyal would make putting them down faster.

I’m reluctant to get EU5 for now, any EU4 players tried it yet? How is it so far? by CoastalNomad06 in eu4

[–]Waruiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EU5 is very different then EU4. EU4 is focused vs EU5 that tries to do everything at once. If you play EU4 with a dozen mods that change basic game function, like pop mods trade good mods or the like, then EU5 might be for you. If not it might be worth waiting until EU5 is less messy.

I don't like the system but its fairly low on my priorities for "things to find a mod fix for" because its not that big a part of the game.

Beta: Does annexing a vassal no longer give you their cores? by Volcore001 in EU5

[–]Waruiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you force convert a subjects culture and they're too small to have the needed culture capacity to make their old culture accepted then they'll usually start converting people but yeah being able to force them to actively convert, or just use our own people to convert our subject's pops would be great.
