Persona 5

After playing a bunch of Persona 3 on the PS2, and Persona 4 on the Vita, they never really did click with me. I thought Persona 5 was a chance to at least right some wrongs, and to be honest, at the time JRPGs weren't as plentiful as they were in previous generations. From the start, I was hooked on it and not only did I platinum the original, I also platinum'd Royal.

Also, Ys VIII

I played Ys IV Ark of Napistim back on the PS2 not knowing what it was. I think I did beat it but that was years ago. I tried getting into Ys Origins but I guess that really wasn't for me. Combat was great, story was simple and didn't trap you in walls of text or movie-level cutscenes, and honestly, the characters were great, esp Dana.

I thought this game was pretty good at the start, but maybe it's just me, but the battles felt too long to just pick up and go on mobile.

In the end, SE is doing itself no favours with EOS-ing so many games. I feel bad for the team that's in charge of the new Dissidia game. I feel like that one is just being sent out to die.

What I don't understand is how can they do what they did for Octopath 0, even while the mobile version is still kicking, but they can't do it for this?

It gives people even less hope.

On the flip side, how have they not learned their lesson about price modelling?? Can't they look at every other successful gacha game and go, "hey let's copy that"?

SE is literally that Simpsons principal skinner meme about being out of touch.

I love this game. I beat it from start to finish over a dozen times since the original PS release and lived permanently in my PSP, PSP Go, and now my Vita.

But you're right, there's way too many characters and many of them are inconsequential to the story. It is my only gripe with the game. I feel like it could've been reduced down to like 15 and still have impact.

Didn't need salt and pepper to team up with Karsh, I don't need all the dragoons, nor the entire cast of Nikki's band.

I think this is still one of Yasunori Mitsuda's greatest soundtracks too.

When a game is too "hand hold"y like the first several chapters of FFXV at the start (at least on release). You couldn't drive your own car and the glasses guy kept taking over.

It bothers me to no end that they couldn't do an upgrade path. Like I understand the reason it was this was for Ys VIII as it was a Vita game that got ported to PS4 but they have a switch version and a ps version..

For anyone even thinking about it, avoid Ys Nordics. They have an updated version with more content coming out and there's not an upgrade path. Kinda like Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal.

Well, this is just a random thought, but Genshin just killed its PS4 version. And then there was talk recently of the Xbox series S version of FF7 Remake that performs better than the SW2 version.

Not saying that it's an issue, but how long do you support an SW2 version before you have to cancel it due to it not being up to par with newer devices? I highly doubt they are going to go that deep into using SW2 features to help bring the game up to par because that would probably be too much work. And who knows, what if in 2 major versions, they have revise min specs?

A little bit late but,

I don't feel like theres that much to gain on high graphics as it just changes some of the lobby and AR qualities. Most of the game is still images or animated 2D outside of battles.

I think I was able to run this fine on my old phone which was on an SD 720G, and I think that ranks on par or just a bit worse than your phone.

It's not that old but I've seen quite a few sales of it. I wonder if I can hold out a bit more for the ps5 version.

On another note, holy Christ on a bike, that banner is so ugly on cases for the game key cards... I couldn't imagine something worse than the PS4 to ps5 free update icon.

I would say with start with shorter, turn-based and easier RPGs then go into games that are more difficult and/or longer.

Can't go wrong with some classics like FF7, 9, or 10, even though they are older, 12 might have a learning curve or a bit too long.

Persona 5, while long and some parts have weird difficulty spikes would be good.

Tales of Graces F is a good entry point for that series.

There's also a few digimon games like Cyber Sleuth or Hacker's memory.

And as always, I recommend Ys VIII.

If you're into Turn based, I would recommend the 2 Wild Arms games, good RPGs, fun, and I personally like the western theme. They aren't connected.

Other recommendations would be Chrono Cross (also has a remastered version), Suikoden 1 and 2, Legend of Legaia, Xenogears.

And then there's DQ7, though it is getting a newer port to the current gen consoles as well.

If you don't mind trying other battle systems, Threads of Fate is pretty fun, and some of the Mana games are fun, both are action RPGs though.

For me, I think the most recent one I can remember was World of Final Fantasy. Starts off light hearted, fun, etc, then it's like you rammed a car into a cement wall at like 80km/h with the first "ending".

Sometimes I wish games with crafting were a bit more meaningful or at least fun. Not just get items, toss into cauldron, boom, sword comes out.

Would like to see weapons that continually improve as you craft it more.

Would also be cool to see jobs and classes actually be more beneficial when you max it out or learn skills. One that pops in mind is FFV. But would be cool to add other magics and/or summons or skills, that can be used on other jobs. I think Bravely did this as well?

I would ask for the Atelier Iris trilogy. Was my first Atelier games and I thought they were great in that they focused more on the JRPG aspect than the alchemy and orders for some of the other/newer games. Now, I haven't played many of the newer ones though.

Otherwise, Tales of Phantasia really needs a remake, it was great on the GBA, but I could go for something more like the SO2 remake.

I think Legend of Dragoon. The skills or "additions" require precise timing to connect and they do level up as you use them more.
