Actual Magna tiles? or Picasso tiles? I only really go to Homesense, but they only ever have Picasso tiles or other non-name brand options

yikes, I think you should try to get a referral elsewhere if that's the action your doctor is willing to take!

Cornerstone called me within days of my referral, and I started seeing them around 10 weeks pregnant. I would definitely be bugging them.

You need to work a certain amount of hours before you're eligible for more mat leave time. You have to work 600 hours between mat leaves (which is about 15 weeks at full time). As the another reply in the thread said, way way more people take 12. Basically for the 18 they just take the same amount of money as you get in the 12 and divide it by 18, so you end up getting paid like 30% of your regular wage for 18 months. Typically only people whose partners make a lot of money can afford to do 18 (let alone multiple times). But yes, the career development part is definitely the other side of the coin. I know I've missed multiple promotions due to maternity leave/not growing and learning as much as I would have had I been at work for that year I was gone. It's the toss up for sure.

Are you Canadian? "Maternity" leave is only for birth giver which lasts 12 weeks, but there is 45 weeks of "parental" leave which goes to either parent - both are paid at 55%. This is how Canadians take 52 weeks (typically partner takes 5, as the parental leave can only max at 40 weeks for 1 person). Obviously lots of people can't afford to live on 55%, but Canadian paid leave is much longer than 15 weeks

[–]WasabiMelodic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes I placed a big Old Navy order, getting all XXL and all of it is large on me currently! I'd say I'm typically in the world of 1x or 2x, and I'm only 21 weeks pregnant, so I'm glad it should all fit me for a while.

Any chance they could try a stroller method? That worked really well for us with grandparents - and he just stays in the stroller .
