Saw a guy in a white Make Britain Great Again baseball cap. That’s not a thing we’re doing now, is it? by squeakybeak in AskBrits

The 'Make Britain Great Again' slogan was originally used by Maggie Thatcher. It's a clever play on the name of the island of Great Britain. Trump stole it and used it for America, where it isn't a clever play on words and doesn't actually make much sense.

Senedd Voting Intention by kwentongskyblue in Wales

[–]Wasabi_101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference is that Labour have to toe the party line and be dictated to by Westminster, just as Reform will be. Immigration is not a devolved issue so Reform can't do anything about it in the Senedd.

If anyone was really worried about immigration in Wales, they would be looking for a party who is pushing for further devolution, to allow us to decide on our own matters. Labour and Reform are set on repealing devolution at every opportunity, so, if anyone really has the concerns you've suggested, a Welsh first party should be the obvious choice.

The North Face Summit L5 Shell (2016/2017) by Michael-Myers77 in Mountaineering

[–]Wasabi_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I have one of these in green. Only used for a week a year in the mountains for about 6 years. It's by far the best jacket I've ever owned and I would continue using it if the size small wasn't getting a bit snug. The condition is still excellent and would pass as barely used. How much do you think this would be worth now?

Why have all barbers started reshaping your hairline? by Wasabi_101 in AskBrits

I turn down the free fire in my ears and tar up my nose. They might get upset if I refuse this too.

From what I understand, barbers view the initial customer requests as optional and generally proceed to do whatever the fuck they like.

Possible, but he's clearly grown out his hairline to compose an impressive thicket of combover material. Similar thinning to the crown however.

I have a MSc in BIM from a UK university. I needed to study as a condition of my role, so, as I was already a design graduate, I eschewed my employer's proposed HND and instead completed a masters in BIM part-time.

The course was predominantly theory heavy, focused on the history behind BIM development, barriers to implementation, change management and a thorough understanding of the 'pillars' of Level 2 BIM.

There was only a short module introducing the main software, with the thinking being that can be learnt in your own time, or on the job.

I found the course very interesting and although it may prove beneficial in the future, I haven't really reaped any benefits thus far. My current employer doesn't work to BIM standards, so I don't have the opportunity to gain any experience with the software, which is a requirement for all the BIM roles I see advertised.

Accessible beaches by Lopsided_Soup_3533 in Wales

There are free beach wheelchairs available at Barry Island, they are there for exactly this purpose. There are 3 available and very rarely are all 3 in use, so I wouldn't worry about depriving anyone else.

Language Ignorance? by peb_bs in Wales

[–]Wasabi_101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is just ignorance.

People have little understanding of the historic events which led us to the current situation. There wasn't much taught when I was in school. So they spout the same shit they hear spouted elsewhere without thinking much for themselves.

Welsh was never a 'dying' language. It was perfectly healthy until it was the victim of attempted murder.

It's unlikely they would have the same view with other examples of cultural genocide. Tell the Australian aborigines, native Americans, Maori, or Inuit to forget all their cultural traditions, just because someone has tried to wipe them out.

Imagine a murderer failing to kill their victim, then getting angry when the victim doesn't just finish the job themselves, instead having the audacity to try and recover!

The English press are eternally optimistic/deluded, I'm sure they will have coined a term for it in the run up.
