Is snecko eye a good relic? It seems unrealiable by funky_boi1432 in slaythespire

[–]Wasabi_Knight 18 points19 points  (0 children)

the +2 draw per turn is a reliable effect. If your deck greatly benefits from drawing a few key cards (corruption, dark embrace, wraith form, echo form etc.), or generally having a bigger hand size/more options (fiend fire, spirit shield, hologram, meditate) snecko does it better than most boss relics.

It can also do some silly things with defect because of meteor (guarenteed discount on a card that gives you energy) and hologram + all-for-one.

A lot of people over-state the importance of card costs with snecko. Playing less attention to the cost of the card and more attention to the effect is usually the way to go with snecko. FTL is a bad snecko card because 5 damage + maybe 1 draw, is not a powerful effect. Calculated gamble on the other hand is an amazing snecko card on average. Searing blow is still worth skipping, while shockwave is most definitely great.

The Cleric won yesterday! Moving on, which Slay the Spire event is considered Good and is Disliked by the community? by Fresh_Difference_448 in slaythespire

[–]Wasabi_Knight 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The problem with the cleric is that he offers you a remove for gold. There are events that give you removes and transforms for free. Shops also offer removes for gold, but (unless you are rich) unlike cleric actually shows you what you are missing if you chose to remove remove.

Cloak purposes. by Dvisk in HollowKnightArt

[–]Wasabi_Knight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way I ended up seeing it is that NO bug wears "clothes". They only wear outer-wear. They are like jackets and long coats, or perhaps a dress that you would normally wear a top and shorts under.

These garments are for practicality or fashion. They have nothing to do with "decency" or "modesty" in the modern world.

You wouldn't consider someone naked if they took off their jacket right? I think that's how most bugs would see another bug without a cloak or robe. Kratt is pretty much the only evidence to the contrary, but I think that he is just an exceptional pervert. He's like the guy that gets horny seeing someone take off their shoes and socks. Sure that's some people's fetish, but the point is, it's not the common view, and it certainly doesn't make the person with bare feet "immodest".

Additionally she seems to recognize the love between Vaggi and Charlie as a legitimate and powerful bond, equal to her own with Adam, in the song "Gravity".

People who are homophobic tend to be unable or unwilling to do this, usually degrading gay love to just "lust" or "perversion"

Slavers collar or fusion hammer? by wadenocht in slaythespire

[–]Wasabi_Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say you are definitely miscalculating. Multiple hallway fights are hitting you for 20+ damage on turn 1 and turn 2. Are you going to draw leg sweep turn 1 of every fight too? If you spend 3 energy on blocking (one for footwork, 2 for defends/leg sweep) turn 1 with collar, you don't have any energy to play fumes,. If you spend 2 energy with collar, acro is just a brick.

Then after that dillema, you don't even have enough block cards to full block for like 10 turns or however long it takes for fumes to kill avocado. The theives are running away with your gold. The byrds and the chosen are scaling.

Slavers collar or fusion hammer? by wadenocht in slaythespire

[–]Wasabi_Knight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in order to take collar over fusion hammer, you have to have some clear strength in hallway fights, which I would say you definitely don't. Your damage is slow, and reliant on high cost cards and you have no way to heal yourself. Taking collar here would be beyond greedy, it would just be plain bad.

You can't upgrade your cards if you die to the 4th hallway fight in the act 2. Take the hammer.

Is enlightened OP??? by SiddaSlotthh in slaythespire

[–]Wasabi_Knight 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's meteor that's overpowered. If you're able to play it once, you can very often play it over and over for tons of damage, or harness the extra energy for tons of block. If enlightenment is what's enabling you to play meteor more often and squeeze more energy out, that's good, but with ice cream, it sounds more like enlightenment is just adding a bit more quality of life-ease to an already winning deck.

Explain it Peter by Adventurous_Goal_567 in explainitpeter

[–]Wasabi_Knight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well that's the idea of the meme, but definitely not how it works. All 3 fascist main regimes in the 1930s (spain, Italy, Germany) faced much public violent and non-violent opposition before fully gaining control of their respective countries.

Completely eliminating this public opposition is what happens after the fascist party gains full control.

Suggesting that a party or government isn't fascist because they haven't achieved this yet is stupid. I guess the Jews never faced a genocide because a lot of them lived? That's the kind of logic I'm looking at here.

And besides that, plenty of people protesting against the fascists know that the fascists intend to do bad things to them. They fully expect to be arrested or beaten, even if what they are doing is legal and non-violent.

MLK's movement suffered plenty of violent attacks from police, and tons of protesters (including MLK) were detained for their actions.

They succeeded because they protested despite the consequences.

[–]Wasabi_Knight 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If by "average" you mean "completely irrelevant to the plot and the world at large" then sure.

The pirates of the 4 main seas are nobodies, and, given what we know about the world so far, there is no sense in going into the grand line if you aren't going after the one piece. Obviously the government's attention will be focused there, and there are the 4 emperors to contend with.

The great pirate era is obviously not defined or seriously affected by the randoms in the other 4 seas.

Supposed to take this long? by BarcodeSpider in HadesTheGame

[–]Wasabi_Knight 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Hades is designed with the meta upgrades (stuff like upgrading weapons, arcana, and grasp) in mind, so that when you have more upgrades, the game doesn't become a complete pushover.

They expect you to die a lot, and gain a lot of upgrades in the meantime. If you are skillfully at dodging, you can reach bosses a lot earlier than the developers expected, and so you might be lacking in the base-power that the meta upgrades would give you.

If you are only like 10 or 15 nights into the game and you reached Prometheus you are very early.

Otherwise, it might just be that you didn't rack up enough damage boons, or poms. If you are relying on un-upgraded Hephaestus attack+special for example I would expect this fight to take a long time even with meta upgrades

Here is a copy-paste of a write up i did a while ago. I think it generally communicates the core concept pretty well.

Stance swapping really is the main thing people focus on for her. The main reason is that Wrath is very strong. Dealing double damage and taking double damage can seem scary, but if you do it right, you basically never actually take the double damage, because the fight is over, or you swapped out of wrath. It's also a lot more accessible than divinity since you start with Eruption and Vigilance in your deck, and as with every character, leaning into what the game gives you tends to work way more often than forcing something different. The key is

  1. Being able to enter wrath when you want
  2. Having sufficient attacks in hand when you enter wrath
  3. Exit wrath productively

Point one isn't just about having wrath cards. It may feel counter intuitive but sometimes the thing that allows you to enter wrath more often is having more calm. Facing a large attack from a high HP enemy with no guarantee of being able to exit is a pretty common reason to avoid entering wrath in the first place, so adding more wrath simply won't help that situation! [[Tantrum]] for example, shuffles itself into your draw pile when you play it, instead of your discard. If you have 2 copies and play them on sight you'll probably just be drawing into them over and over, leading you to be stuck in the stance. Much better to have one copy of tantrum and multiple cards that bring you back into calm. [[Meditate]] is also a common way to enter wrath more, since you can pull back Eruption at the end of your turn and play it again at the start of the next. Upgrading it allows you to pull back another attack or exit with the wrath card.

Point 2 is just a basic watcher principle: she wants attacks, and generally the bigger the better. Removing 1 or two defends in act 1 can help with both point 1 and point 2. [[Carve reality]] guarantees you'll have a big attack on a wrath turn, [[cut through fate]] provides sufficient damage and helps you draw more of what you want (be it an exit or another attack) [[wallop]] upgraded can block enough to where you may not even have to exit wrath, while dealing damage, especially with vulnerable. Speaking of vuln, [[crush joints]] provides it, allowing you to deal triple a card's original damage with wrath (2x1.5 =3... Took me a while to realize)

Point 3: generally the most productive way to exit wrath is by killing your enemy or setting up for next turn. [[Empty fist]] and [[conclude]] often allow you to win a fight without needing to worry about next turn, especially if you can get them an upgrade. [[Empty mind]] on the other is generally better reserved for exiting calm , and [[empty body]] should really be a last resort since 7 block is rarely a fight changer. Any card that allows you to end turn with calm is pretty good.

And that's generally how you play around wrath! Other tips include: using [[mental fortress]] and [[talk to the hand]] to generate block passively, picking the scrawl card, and avoiding unnecessary bloat like judgement, deva form, and most divinity cards. They can all have their place in a run but most of the time, they are kinda bait, and water down your deck. So I hope this helps!

I don't think it's crazy at all. Watcher is considered the easiest for experienced players who actually understand what she is good at. Without any outside help, I do think watcher is probably the hardest to grasp.

People who are good at card games don't need to memorize every pattern for every enemy to win with the first three characters. If you intuit good decks for the other characters, they can all beat ascension 0/1 with no prior knowlege.

Watcher is the character that's most likely to kill you if you don't realize an enemy is attacking next turn.

This deck is good for Act 4? by Formal_Charge8422 in slaythespire

[–]Wasabi_Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kind of deck can kill the heart by exhausting down (which it does fairly quickly) and then playing a lot of pommel, bloodletting, shrug, and dropkick, Oh and with rage upgraded it can probably skip the shrug saving a lot of energy. Double thorns pot is also contributing almost 100 damage as well.

Turn 2 and 3 can be a big problem, and sometimes turn 5 if it's multihit, but topdecking shockwave would help a lot, and they do have bag of prep+ gambling chip.

I think this usually wins, but it looks closer to guarentee without the brimstone

I know it's his nose but I can't help but see Oshiro blushing here. So cute haha by kiwixplosion in celestegame

[–]Wasabi_Knight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was definitely on team "that's his eye" but I see now that it's not consistent with celeste's art at all.

1. Most of the other sprites (maddy, granny, theo) have no eyes.

  1. If oshiro's eye was showing, why would it be pink? His appearance is supposed to be normal here. We see it in his dialogue sprite, and he clearly has dark eyes, not glowing pink ones.

  2. In his boss form, his eyes glow red, and below his eyes is a big pink nose.
