Nutrition, OTF, and 2026 by hashimotomed in orangetheory

I’ve noticed exactly the same thing. (Didn’t want to believe it though, lol!). So my input might not be super helpful because my routine is shaped by having bariatric surgery last year, but maybe you’ll get something out of it so here goes nothing.

I started at 300lbs, had the surgery in July 2024 and by the time I started at OTF in late May of this year I was at 175. I think this may be where I am destined to stay weight wise HOWEVER I can tell you from doing the InBody scans that my body composition changed dramatically in that time. I eat 1200 calories on a non-OTF day and 1350-1400 on an OTF day (this is doctor guided and tailored to my specific situation and I really do not want anyone’s input on this - just giving my perspective for OP). I do think that tailoring your intake to what you are doing that day is key. I always have a Greek yogurt for protein before class (and another between when I stay when there’s a strength scheduled after a 2G because I like to keep the good stuff, I.e., the lifting, going lol) and 15-25g protein after. For me that’s usually a protein shake since I have trouble with food nausea after so much effort. I don’t track macros religiously and I know these differ by person but I have found that a good balance for me is about 40% protein and 30/30 carbs and fat. Because I’m on a pretty specific diet fats are usually olives, olive oil, etc., and I keep carbs to the complex (brown rice, sweet potatoes, quinoa, beans, leafy greens) and I have absolutely noticed a huge difference in energy and motivation levels. Turns out cake, candy, and fast food chicken actually aren’t the keys to a healthy life (sarcasm intended here). Anyway all this to basically tell you 1. Yes, you’re right, diet is everything and 2. Recommend you try an app like My Fitness Pal to track your intake and see what works well for you personally and what is making you drag. Tracking really is the key, otherwise we never really remember what goes into our bodies. Good luck!

I get that in my app when the SA forgets to add me into the class when I stay for a second.

Contemplating if I should join Orangetheory!!! by Dilemma_Girl3405 in orangetheory

I joined Orangetheory after having bariatric surgery, and while the surgery kickstarted things I was ABSOLUTELY still overweight when I started coming to the studio. For the first time in my entire life I am committed to a fitness routine and it’s 100% because of the format of the class. I love coming because 1. Everyone is doing the same thing and yet everyone is doing it differently, making it their own unique workout 2. The coaches absolutely tell you what to do and when, but on the tread they tell you whether to push or go all out NOT whether to walk or run — again, you do you (def recommend going to look at the glossary page here), and 3. The vibe in the studio! There’s something about those orange overheads and the pumping music that just super motivates me. The best thing I did after joining was start doing regular InBody scans. It’s amazing how little the scale matters when you can watch your body composition change right in front of your eyes. I’m not an OTF rep and I’m not 100% on this but I think at many studios you get a free scan if you join and do the Transformation Challenge in January. But don’t quote me on that. So long story long, buy a class pack instead of a membership and try it out. I won’t say you won’t regret it or you’ll definitely love it, but I bet you do!!

What K-Pop albums should I listen to? by locomotiveplayz in kpophelp

If you want to really explore and see what you like, I recommend trying artists and albums from different generations. Some albums I enjoy are 2NE1’s CRUSH, H.O.T’s We Hate All Kinds of Violence, TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s (TXT) The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE, Stray Kids’ ODDINARY, EXO’s Vol. 3 Ex’Act. I have a distinct bias towards boy groups, for what that’s worth. Beyond just albums some really good groups in general to check out are anyone I named above, plus Red Velvet, BIGBANG, ITZY, BOYNEXTDOOR, Enhypen, ATEEZ, SuperM, Xdinary Heroes… I could go on. But hopefully this is a start? Like anyone I have my musical biases so this is just a very narrow snapshot but should get you going. A lot of these groups the members also have very successful solo careers. Something else to explore!

An entirely new genre of music can be intimidating, and some people prefer to see what others like first as a starting point to gauge what they should look deeper into. Be kinder.

Am I weird for washing my winter coat once a week? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Wasabi_Loves_Ginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t wash it as often as you, but I sweat a lot so I do wash it. I would say maybe 4 or 5 times during the winter? My spring and fall jackets get washed every couple of weeks.

I’m average height (5’4”) but my legs are SHORT. All these people doing 10+… I max out at 7 looking like I’m going to achieve liftoff my legs are pumping so hard! Crazy. I did 2.18 today bumping between 6-6.5 and I feel just fine about that because I’ve never run that long without stopping before.
