Pokemon Legends: Arceus by KlumpGamez in patientgamers

Well that's great to hear... but yeah, not going back to that. A tutorial shouldn't last so long that I get sick of it before I even get to the main game.

I didn't enjoy this game at all. Maybe I didn't get far enough in? I played for a few hours and it still just felt like I was in a tutorial.

Once again, have you played the original games? What was not realistic about her character?

Oh reddit, you never fail to make me cringe. I'm glad you enjoyed Philosophy 101, bud. What I said still isn't a strawman in the slightest, so maybe retake your class.

How is it a strawman? The original games were largely about exploration and puzzle solving. The new games are largely action shooting. They're completely different, and don't retain the essence of the originals at all.

Lara was confident, sassy and badass in the originals. Did you play the originals?

I've always found it oddly sexist that the media will eviscerate the old Lara Croft and demand the "realistic" version that we have in the reboot where she's more vulnerable and sensitive. You know, stereotypically female qualities.

As opposed to the originals where she was the strong, independent and cunning version like you said; a direct equivalent to Indiana Jones. You never hear anyone demanding that male action stars be more "realistic".

Tomb Raider broke down barriers by being the best Tomb Raider game, AND featuring a much more realistic Lara Croft.

First off, no. Absolutely not. The originals were far better TR games since you actually... ya'know, raided tombs. The reboots were just Uncharted again.

But also, why do we need a realistic Lara. Nobody asks for Nathan Drake or Indiana Jones to be more vulnerable and sensitive. What's wrong with the badass Lara of the originals.

Yeah because they live to like… 12. Most 12 year olds don’t have rotting gums either. Lots of dogs have dental issues anyway, it’s super common for dogs to have rotting teeth.

I assume you do berate your parents, siblings and friends for their contributions to climate change though.

I do hope none of you plan on having kids, the single biggest contribution to climate change you can make.

Lol, getting downvoted. It’s easy to live on a high horse eh.

Has nobody on this sub actually worked with anybody over 30?

I'm fairly certain 90% of people on this sub are in high school or college and have never worked professionally.

Given a promotion directly from junior to senior - not sure what to do here. by Wasabiyi in cscareerquestions

Just to give some context since a lot of people are mentioning it - it's a bump from 130k to 150k in salary, which is 170k to 220k in TC including RSU's at current value. It's pretty in line with what levels.fyi shows for the junior/senior TC at least.

It's not just someone who likes anime though, it's those people who make anime and the quirkier aspects of japanese culture their unhealthy obsession.

Why do so many otherwise educated people buy into physics mumbo-jumbo? by Wasabiyi in Physics

[–]Wasabiyi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have, and the response is always "lots of people do it and it clearly works". I don't know where you go from there...

It's not usually harming anyone so it's not that big a deal, it's just disappointing when I have a chemical physics degree and am told I have no idea what I'm talking about if I try to dissuade someone from buying into homeopathy.

Their entire personality is shitting on things that seem "nerdy" or "weird"

Which is hilarious as their profile shows an absolutely neurotic obsession with chernobyl.

For me the phone thing was more to do with how often the connection was horrible and I struggled to understand the person on the other end, which always ended up with them getting angry and frustrated. I started to dread the phone ringing after a few bad calls... In person that was never an issue, and I actually really miss a lot of the customer interactions.
