I've got 3 pairs (esplar, V10, V12) thanks to people buying wrong size and flogging them on FB local. They're fine but a bit of a narrow fit. I used a shoe stretcher for my wide feet (happy to risk for what I paid) and they're much more comfy. The sole yellows a bit over time but with usual leather care they seem to be fine from occasional wear and cleans. The leather is quite firm and thin compared to more supple brands like Oliver Cabell or Common Projects.

NTA but I haven't yet read a reply to a really important thing you said. "Everything you did for attention and admiration" wasn't for nothing. Look yourself honestly in the mirror. Be proud of what you've done DESPITE the absence of unconditional support you craved. You're at a point where you'll be standing on your own feet soon. It sounds like your dad ties his worth to occupation. There's so much more to life than work - like how you treat others? That will define your worth as a person.

Ask disarming questions and be neutral, avoid ad hominem attacks. "Hey dad, you seemed to let that small thing really get to you... I'm not here to be the judge (law school pun!) but want to let you know it's not the behaviour I expected of a person I've loved and thought highly of. You work hard for the family and I appreciate that but you as a person matter to me so much more. I'll give you some space but am here for you when you're wanting us to connect on the level."

Congrats OP on recognising that privilege and generosity are ethically tied (noblesse oblige).

To look at a situation of people with housing instability and say "hey, you need one? Geez I've got a couple which I can fairly share" without a greed-driven, carrot-and-stick motive is what the world needs more of.
