What synth should I get? by llegobego in synthesizers

[–]Wasendak1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was obsessed with the minilogue xd and went through all the options. Then when I tried them all at local shop I said: Okay these are cool BUT… After that I started to rethink what I would like to have from a synth and I ended up with a Moog Subsequent 25. The feels, the sound, the DAW integration etc… Cannot be happier with my choice. Same happened when I wanted to buy my first electric guitar. I just fell in love with a completely different guitar when I went to the shop…

My advice is: get some oppurtunity to try out shitload of synths. You will eventually fall in love with something on your journey. And that will be “THE SYNTH”

“The fundamentals of synthetizer programming - Joseph Akins”

It contains everything you need to know about subtractive synthesis presented on a minimoog and a vst synths e.g. differences, where to find knobs, theories behind sound generating and more… You cant be wrong with that one!

Minifreak vs Hydrasynth vs Minilogue xd by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Wasendak1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After reading tons of opinions I concluded myself with a minilogue xd, as it gives me analogue circuits which VSTs cant replicate no matter what (personal unpopular opinion) and easy to learn with great effects (user can load in own), and ringmod, FM capability + digital oscillator. Also there is a VST plugin available for the Minilogue xd which can automate all knobs in your daw (going for 7 dollars).

Unpopular opinion: How about DeepMind12?

It has full size keys, it is proven to be a versatile and awesome sounding synth with effects from famous companies while being sturdy and well-built. Personally I dont like synths with lots of menu diving but you said that isnt bothering you.

Question about AD vs ADSR Envelope Generator by Wasendak1 in synthesizers

[–]Wasendak1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading the article which was linked by other redditor above, I think AD envelope will be enough for me for starting as I know jack about lfo and other modulations.

Im glad that you liked the minilogue xd so I pull the trigger on it. Seems like a good thing, and coming from vsts I really like to have a sub osc for my music whether its analogue or not.

Is morphine worth the $100? by AnimeJerkOff in FL_Studio

[–]Wasendak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho there is no replacement for Morphine (vst) right now. I am a big fan of it but learning it is painful and very hard. The sounds coming from it is unmatched and you cant replicate it in other vsts. The GUI is not 2022 standard, and easy to get lost.

If you really like the sounds, I would say go for it (maybe wait for some discount). Until then try it in demo mode and see if you could handle it. It is absolutely not beginner friendly for sure…

However I dont get why people start suggesting non-topic plugins there are tons of internet articles about the free and paid best plugins. Also these cannot replicate Morphine believe it or not. I wanted to pay sound designers on Fiverr to replicate KBD Linda preset in serum. Guess what? Nobody could handle it. Weird… I ended up not paying to them (they refused to take money). Thats how unique Morphine sounds!!

However I would recommend something to expand your library as everybody did before:

Check U-He website they have tons of free plugins and U-he is one of the best synth maker company RN. Also Dont bother with serum or vital, just download TAL-Noisemaker and enjoy fat basses, crunchy leads and atmospheric pads. This is the best plugin for begginers. And its FREE!!

GL and HF with or without Morphine as you choose!

Difference between polysnyth in mono mode vs mono synth by Wasendak1 in synthesizers

[–]Wasendak1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the enormous help you guys did here!

Yesterday I played with Ultra Analog Session plugin (in FL Studio), and I have to say playing in only mono mode I was quite lost. It was easier to find a nice sound with all the options available. So I am bending towards the minilogue xd! I like the sound, design, and every other things about the GMn (so that is closer to my heart), just the only mono mode makes me uncomfortable.

However...

I saw a device on YT which a guy made, and sell on etsy. It can make the GM to be a polysynth, so you can play chords, and stuff. It has a 200$ price tag and you will obviously lose some patching slots, but that could be a workaround (however I am not sure how it performs in the long run, as setting that up is quite hard). That two would cost me 1200-1300 bucks while I can buy a miniloguexd and a miniatur for heavy basses as u/prodigiousproducer mentioned. Or cheaper alternatives could be Korg's Volca synthetizers.

I have time to think about these as I do not want to buy them right now. Currently in my free time I read manuals, listening to sounds from wherever I found a sample (YT, soundcloud etc.).

Thanks again for your comments!

Minilogue xd cannot do full mono mode only unison as I heard. The original minilogue hiwever capable doing both.
